SUMP AND HEAT EXCHANGER MODULE
A sump and heat exchanger module may include a housing shell and a cover. The housing shell may at least partially define an internal space. The housing shell may include a sump section configured to receive at least a portion of a sump and a heat exchanger section configured to receive at least a portion of a heat exchanger. The cover may be disposed in the housing shell and may divide the internal space into a heat exchanger space and a sump space. The housing shell may further include a recess via which the heat exchanger space opens into the sump space. The cover may be connected to the housing shell and close the recess sealing the heat exchanger space and the sump space from one another.
Lubricant pan and internal combustion engine for a vehicle
A lubricant pan for a vehicle includes a receiving region in which a lubricant is at least temporarily receivable, a first wall element, and a second wall element. A temperature-control channel is disposed between the first wall element and the second wall element and a temperature-control medium is flowable through the temperature-control channel. A core that is porous and permeable to the temperature-control medium is disposed in the temperature-control channel between the first wall element and the second wall element. The temperature-control medium is introducible into the temperature-control channel via a first connector and the temperature-control medium is dischargable from the temperature-control channel via a second connector.
Thermal storage materials and applications thereof
The present invention relates to automotive products, as well as uses thereof, which can facilitate warming of engine oil in an energy efficient and, therefore, more environmentally friendly manner. More specifically, a fluid reservoir is disclosed that includes a double walled vessel that defines a fluid containing compartment and has a self-contained region that shares a wall with the fluid containing compartment. A composition in the self-contained region at least partially covers the shared wall surface, and one or more light sources are positioned in the self-contained region to induce a phase change in the composition. The composition includes a phase-change material (PCM) and a molecular switch material. This fluid reservoir can be used to heat oil in an engine or oil pan.
