An internal combustion engine has a casing and a piston arrangement including a piston coupled to a track. The track is coupled to a shaft and has an inner cam surface and an outer cam surface. The piston is coupled to the track by followers which run on the respective inner and outer cam surfaces of the track to control motion of the piston. A sliding element is connected to the piston and extends below the piston head having a profiled slider surface which engages a corresponding profile in the casing. Also, the casing includes at least two plates having a cutout for receiving the track and a bore for receiving the shaft, and at least two end plates coupled transverse to the plates. At least one cylinder bore is formed in the end plates, and the piston is arranged to move in reciprocating motion in the cylinder bore.

Main oil gallery for the crankcase of an internal combustion engine

A substantially tubular supply line (2, 11) of a main oil gallery (1, 10) for distributing lubricating or cooling oil to bearing points of a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine. The supply line (2, 11) has at least one inflow opening (3, 5, 6, 13) arranged on the supply line (2, 11) and feed lines (4, 12) having feed line openings (7.1, 7.2) on the supply line (2, 11) for feeding the lubricating or cooling oil to the bearing points of the crankshaft in the crankcase. The inflow opening (3, 5, 6, 7.1, 7.2, 13) is formed in a flow-favorable manner and may define a funnel shape.

Four-cycle OHV engine

The oil filter device is disposed on a side portion of one side of a cylinder body in a width direction in a cylinder head side with respect to an engine case in a space between center lines of main lubricating oil passages and a cylinder axis line of the cylinder body, and includes an oil pump disposed on the engine case and further lubricating oil passages that connect to the main lubricating oil passage.

REDUCED PARASITIC LUBE SYSTEM

The present disclosure provides a lubrication system comprising: a pump having an inlet in fluid communication with a lubricant source and an outlet; a cooler having an inlet in fluid communication with the outlet of the pump and an outlet; a lubrication filter having an inlet in fluid communication with the outlet of the cooler and an outlet; a first delivery path in fluid communication with the outlet of the lubrication filter, the first delivery path being configured to deliver cooled, filtered lubricant to a bearing system of an engine; and a second delivery path in fluid communication with the outlet of the pump, the second delivery path being configured to deliver uncooled, unfiltered lubricant to piston cooling nozzles of the engine.

ENGINE

An engine is described having a crankcase, a liner and a head assembly. The crankcase is split along a plane defining a two part crankcase, where fluid passages are passing through only one of the crankcase portions, so as to not require crossing the split line. A connecting rod also includes a tapered end, and the piston has a complementary carrier receiving the connecting rod.

Internal combustion engine

The internal combustion engine comprises: operating members and operating by a predetermined pressure or more of oil pressure; a hydraulic oil path supplying hydraulic oil to the operating members through crank journals; a lubricating oil path supplying lubricating oil to crankpins through the crank journals; a hydraulic control valve linearly controlling an oil pressure supplied to the operating members due to change of that opening degree; and a control device. The control device controls the opening degree of the hydraulic control valve so that when operating the operating members, the predetermined pressure or more of oil pressure is supplied to the operating members, and controls the opening degree of the hydraulic control valve so that when not operating the operating members, less than the predetermined pressure of oil pressure is supplied to the operating members.

CONTROL DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

A control device controls an internal combustion engine including: an elastic wave sensor arranged and configured to output a signal responsive to the strength of an acoustic emission wave produced at a sliding portion; and a variable oil pump. The control device is configured to execute an oil pressure control such that the oil pressure approaches a target oil pressure according to an engine operating condition. This oil pressure control includes a first pressure-increase processing executed where an AE correlation value correlated with the strength or occurrence frequency of the acoustic emission wave detected by the elastic wave sensor is greater than a first threshold value. The first pressure-increase processing increases the target oil pressure associated with a first engine operating condition present when the AE correlation value becomes greater than the first threshold value, as compared to when the AE correlation value is not greater than that.

Device For Lubricating A Big-end Bearing

A device lubricates a big-end bearing on a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine. The device includes a piston with a fluid channel and an outlet channel fluidically connected thereto, and a connecting rod. The connecting rod has a small connecting rod eye, a large connecting rod eye and a connecting channel. The small connecting rod eye is fluidically connected to the outlet channel. The connecting channel forms a fluidic connection between the small and large connecting rod eyes so that a cooling lubricant fluid can be supplied from the fluid channel to the large connecting rod eye via the outlet channel, the small connecting rod eye and the connecting channel. In this way, the big-end bearing can be lubricated by cooling oil from the fluid channel of the piston.

Engine lubrication structure and motorcycle

An engine lubrication structure supplies oil from an oil pump to individual components of an engine in which a balancer shaft is disposed parallel with a crank shaft in a crank case, the engine includes a turbocharger which compresses intake air using exhaust gas of the engine; a main gallery which supplies oil to a bearing of the crank shaft and a bearing of the balancer shaft and a sub-gallery which supplies, to individual components of the engine, oil that has been supplied to the bearing of the balancer shaft are provided in the crank case; and an oil passage which supplies oil to the turbocharger is connected to the sub-gallery.
