Water drop muffler for diesel powered marine generator
11473462 · 2022-10-18 ·

A marine muffler includes a housing having a wet exhaust inlet, a water outlet, and a dry exhaust outlet. An internal chamber is divided by an angularly disposed baffle into lower and upper chambers. Vertical exhaust ducts penetrate the baffle and function to allow exhaust gas and entrained cooling water to pass from the lower chamber into the upper chamber. The second chamber is bounded at the top a second baffle which terminates the upward flow of exhaust thereby redirecting the exhaust downward. A pair of exhaust conduits extend through the second baffle thereby allowing exhaust to pass upward and into a third chamber which is bounded at it's uppermost portion by a third baffle defining a plurality of slotted apertures in fluid communication with the exhaust outlet. Water separated from the exhaust gas is directed to the water outlet by the diagonal baffle whereby it exits the housing.

A muffler assembly for an exhaust system is in fluid communication with a collector via an exhaust conduit. The muffler assembly includes a primary pipe, a valve, a secondary pipe, a tuner tube and a bleed port. The primary pipe extends through an enclosed volume of the muffler. The valve is operable to restrict flow through the primary pipe. When a standing wave is present, a resonance length is defined by a length of the exhaust system that extends from the collector to the valve. The tuner tube includes an open tuner tube end in fluid communication with the primary pipe and a closed tuner tube end. The tuner tube has a tuner tube length that is substantially one-quarter of the resonance length. The bleed port is formed in the primary pipe, allowing fluid communication with the enclosed volume, and positioned downstream from open tuner tube end.

MUFFLER FOR STRATIFIED SCAVENGING ENGINE
20220333520 · 2022-10-20 ·

A cost-effective muffler for a stratified scavenging engine capable of reducing the number of cells with no exhaust gas flowing in a columnar catalyst as much as possible to create a uniform exhaust gas flow in the columnar catalyst and thus obtaining a desired exhaust gas purification rate, so that THC emissions can be effectively curbed, without substantial alteration or dimensional changes to an existing muffler body and columnar catalyst. At least one of distances: from introduction port to partitioning wall plate; from front wall surface of front chamber to front end surface of the columnar catalyst; and from partitioning wall plate to front end surface of the columnar catalyst is within a predetermined range to prevent gas flow introduced into the front chamber through the introduction port and hitting against the partitioning wall plate to be reversed from bypassing cells in the upper end portion of the columnar catalyst as much as possible.

In one aspect, a system is provided and includes an engine including an exhaust valve, an exhaust manifold downstream of the exhaust valve and a muffler downstream of the exhaust manifold. The system also includes a catalyst positioned downstream of the exhaust valve.

Vortex flow apparatus

A vortex flow apparatus including a cylindrical housing that contains a fluid that flows in a swirling circular path. The apparatus may be utilized as a muffler for a combustion engine, a particle separator, or an energy conversion device that physically or chemically acts upon the fluid flow and particles contained within the apparatus. The housing defines an inlet opening that opens into the first end of the housing proximate a first end wall. An outlet tube defines an outlet opening through a first end wall. A projection is attached to a second end wall of the housing and extends into the housing. The outlet tube and projection are aligned with and centered relative to a central axis.

MUFFLER FOR AN EXHAUST SYSTEM OF AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE, ESPECIALLY FOR MOTOR VEHICLES WITH HYBRID DRIVE

A muffler for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine, especially for vehicles with hybrid drive, includes a muffler housing (12), a heat exchanger unit (48), arranged in the muffler housing (12), for transferring heat from combustion exhaust gas to a heat transfer medium, an inlet pipe (38), a first outlet pipe (52) and a second outlet pipe (40). A first exhaust gas flow path (54), in the muffler housing, routs exhaust gas through the heat exchanger unit (48) to the first outlet pipe (52). A second exhaust gas flow path (56), in the muffler housing, routs exhaust gas to a second outlet pipe (40), bypassing the heat exchanger unit (48). A flow path blocking/releasing device (58) for blocking and releasing at least one exhaust gas flow path (54, 56), of the first exhaust gas flow path (54) and of the second exhaust gas flow path (56).

Engine

An engine capable of reducing the content of hydrocarbon in exhaust gas is provided. When viewed parallel to cylinder center axes, tangential virtual lines extending from endpoints of curved port central axes along tangent lines of the endpoints pass intake valve ports, straight port central axes extending from the endpoints of the curved port central axes are further away from a partition wall than the tangential virtual lines, and intake air bent through curved ports passes straight ports and is sucked through the intake valve ports along the wall between the cylinders.

Method for installing inlet pipe and method for supporting inlet pipe

A disposing method for an inlet pipe in a muffler that includes an outer shell, an inlet pipe, and a separating plate, the disposing method comprising: a first step of inserting the inlet pipe into the outer shell from an opening at one end of the outer shell; a second step of disposing the inlet pipe by moving the inlet pipe within the outer shell in a direction substantially orthogonal to the direction of insertion of the inlet pipe; and a third step of disposing the separating plate by inserting the separating plate into the outer shell from the opening at the other end of the outer shell.

Air exhausting device

An air exhausting device includes a muffler internally divided into a plurality of chambers by a separator, an inlet pipe that couples an exhaust pipe of an engine to the muffler, and an outlet pipe that is a path to discharge an exhaust gas inside the muffler to outside air. The muffler is configured of an expansion chamber to which a downstream end of the inlet pipe opens, and a resonator chamber communicated with only the expansion chamber via a plurality of resonator pipes. Any of or both of lengths and thicknesses of the plurality of resonator pipes are different.
