Apparatuses and methods for tuning a muffler. An apparatus comprises a housing for a muffler, a first inlet pipe, and a second inlet pipe. The housing includes a coupling chamber. The first inlet pipe has a first set of physical features and carries exhaust to the coupling chamber. The second inlet pipe has a second set of physical features and carries the exhaust to the coupling chamber. The first set of physical features varies from the second set of physical features with respect to at least one physical feature such that a first sound waveform passing through the first inlet pipe and a second sound waveform passing through the second inlet pipe are uniquely tuned to thereby tune an overall sound waveform emitted by the muffler.

The catalytic converter is formed by a honeycomb body that has a plurality of flow channels through which exhaust gas can flow. The honeycomb body is accommodated in a casing tube, which surrounds the honeycomb body, and is connected to the casing tube in a materially bonded manner. The catalytic converter is arranged in the interior of the muffler.

EXHAUST HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM

An exhaust heat recovery system may include a muffler including a muffler case, a pipe through which exhaust gas flows, a baffle partitioning an internal space of the muffler case into a first space and a second space, and a valve mounted on an end portion of the pipe to change a direction in which the exhaust gas flows, and a heat exchanger mounted outside the muffler to fluidically-communicate with both the first and second spaces, allowing the exhaust gas to be introduced thereinto and to be discharged therefrom, the heat exchanger including a cooling channel through which cooling water flows, and heat exchange between the exhaust gas and the cooling water being performed in the heat exchanger.

Double inlets exhaust system for unmanned aerial vehicle

The dual inlet exhaust design for the flying device incorporates easy-to-assemble designs with low number of components, suitable for limited space and small volume requirements, good performance. The exhaust is designed as a three-chamber cylinder with two coaxial inlet pipes running through the two chambers on both sides, extending into the middle compartment. The width of the two inlet tubes in the middle compartment is different. The inlet pipe at the two compartments on both sides has a bore. The outlet tube is located in the middle compartment, deviating to the side with a smaller expansion inlet, with the longitudinal axis of the outlet tube passing through the inlet tube.

EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION DEVICE

An exhaust gas purification device includes a pre-oxidation catalyst disposed in an exhaust gas passage and a muffler that is provided in such a manner as to surround the pre-oxidation catalyst, and discharges exhaust gas while reducing noise. The muffler has an inlet which is connected to an upstream side exhaust pipe and an outlet which is connected to a downstream side exhaust pipe. The exhaust gas purification device includes a downstream side purification device that is disposed in the exhaust gas passage, and accommodates a second oxidation catalyst and a particulate matter removing filter. The exhaust gas is discharged to the atmosphere after the exhaust gas flows through the downstream side purification device.

Exhaust device for internal combustion engine

An exhaust muffler includes a first muffler section connected to an exhaust pipe and a second muffler section connected to the first muffler section. Exhaust gases delivered from the exhaust pipe are discharged from the first muffler section and the second muffler section out of the exhaust muffler. The first muffler section includes a tubular member made up of an inner pipe to which the exhaust pipe is connected and an outer pipe covering the inner pipe, and a connector connecting the tubular member and the second muffler section to each other. The first muffler section has a first expansion chamber defined therein between the inner pipe and the outer pipe. The inner pipe houses therein a valve for changing an amount of exhaust gases passing through the inner pipe. The first muffler section includes a curved portion that is curved vertically as viewed in side elevation of the vehicle. The exhaust muffler has a second expansion chamber defined in the second muffler section rearward and upward of the first muffler section, the second expansion chamber having a cross-sectional area larger than a cross-sectional area of the first expansion chamber. There is thus provided an exhaust device for an internal combustion engine, which includes a muffler compact in a longitudinal direction thereof.
