Stern drives and water lift exhaust systems for stern drives
A stern drive is for propelling a marine vessel in water. The stern drive is configured to power a propulsor located below the surface of the water. The stern drive comprises an internal combustion engine that powers a driveshaft that axially extends through a transom of the marine vessel; an exhaust manifold that conveys exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine; and an elongated exhaust conduit that redirects the exhaust gas from the exhaust manifold transversely with respect to the driveshaft. The elongated exhaust conduit conveys the exhaust gas to an upstream exhaust outlet that discharges the exhaust gas through the transom below the surface of the water and then to a downstream exhaust outlet that is spaced apart from and is located vertically higher than the upstream exhaust outlet. The elongated exhaust conduit functions as a water lift muffler during operation of the stern drive.
PROCESSES USING MOLECULAR SIEVE SSZ-102
Uses are disclosed for a new crystalline molecular sieve designated SSZ-102 synthesized using an N,N′-dimethyl-1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane dication as a structure directing agent. SSZ-102 has ESV framework topology.
OUTBOARD MOTOR
An outboard motor is provided with an upper separator disposed on the lower side of an oil case for storing a lubricating oil of an engine, and an extension case which is separably connected on the lower side of the upper separator. The upper separator has a central exhaust passage through which exhaust gas flows, and a cooling water flow part through which cooling water flows on the outside of the central exhaust passage, the central exhaust passage and the cooling water flow part forming an integrated structure. The exhaust gas and the cooling water are caused to mix in the extension case.

Water jacketed marine exhaust components having multiple stream spray ring configurations
A water jacketed exhaust component includes an exhaust pipe having a radially inwardly tapered tail end, a water jacket disposed in surrounding relation with the exhaust pipe, and a generally V-shaped spray ring. The spray ring includes a first and second set of apertures that create diverging streams of cooling water. A first set of apertures creates an annularly disposed series of streams that are directed downstream and radially inward. These streams are generally directed toward the outer surface of the exhaust pipe structure which extends downstream of the spray ring. A second set of apertures creates an annularly disposed series of streams that are directed downstream and radially outward. These streams are generally directed toward the inner surface of the water jacket structure extending downstream of the spray ring. By providing a water jacketed exhaust component with a spray ring that creates diverging streams of cooling water, the present invention provides a water jacketed marine exhaust component that provides improved exhaust gas cooling over a wider range of engine operating conditions. An alternate embodiment includes a V-shaped spray ring configured to create converging streams of cooling water.
Internal combustion engine with two working spaces of a cylinder
An engine having a cylinder fastened to the engine ease with the biconcave internal partition, which divides the cylinder into the upper and bottom parts. Sparking plugs are mounted on both sides of the partition. The upper and the bottom parts of the cylinder have side scavenging channels which connect suction spaces to the working spaces of both parts of the cylinder. The upper and bottom parts of the cylinder have inlet and outlet orifices. Inside the upper and inside the bottom part of the cylinder and the upper and bottom piston are placed respectively, while both pistons are directed towards each other by the working surfaces. The pistons are connected by a rod that is led through the linear bearing that is embedded in the partition forming a seal. The connecting rod is fastened to the bottom piston and by its other end it is connected to the crankshaft.
Exhaust cooling system for internal combustion engine
A cooling system for an internal combustion engine in which an exhaust purification catalyst is arranged in an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine, the cooling system including: a cooling unit configured to cool the exhaust passage upstream of the exhaust purification catalyst; a heat transmission inhibition portion configured such that heat transfer from the exhaust passage downstream of a location cooled by the cooling unit to the cooling unit is inhibited; and a heat radiation suppression portion that is provided in a curved section positioned in the exhaust passage from a location where the heat transmission inhibition portion is provided to the exhaust purification catalyst, and that is configured to suppress heat radiation transmitted from exhaust gas flowing in the curved section to an atmosphere around the curved section through curved section passage walls forming the curved section. With such a configuration, the decrease in exhaust gas temperature can be suppressed.
