Dual UHEGO control of particulate filter regeneration
A system for particulate filter regeneration includes a pre-converter universal heated exhaust gas oxygen (UHEGO) sensor disposed upstream from a three-way catalytic (TWC) converter and a particulate filter (PF), and a post-converter UHEGO sensor disposed downstream from the TWC converter and upstream from the PF. An engine controller for an internal combustion engine (ICE) and in communication with the pre-converter UHEGO sensor and the post-converter UHEGO sensor is included. The engine controller is configured to determine an amount of particulate mass accumulated in the PF during operation of the ICE and deactivate at least one of a plurality of cylinders of the ICE such that a deactivated cylinder intake air (DCIA) pass-through volume flows through the at least one deactivated cylinder and into the TWC converter and the PF. The DCIA pass-through volume is a function of the determined amount of particulate mass accumulated in the PF.
Exhaust purification system
An exhaust purification system includes: a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) provided on an exhaust passage of an engine; a diesel particulate filter (DPF) provided on the exhaust passage at a position downstream of the DOC to collect particulate matter contained in exhaust gas; electrodes that detect a capacitance of the DOC; a particulate matter accumulation estimating unit that estimates an amount of particulate matter accumulated in the DPF on the basis of the detected capacitance; and a forced regeneration control unit that injects fuel into the DOC and performs forced regeneration that burns and removes at least the particulate matter accumulated in the DPF when the estimated accumulated particulate matter amount surpasses a predetermined amount.
Exhaust purification system of internal combustion engine
In an internal combustion engine of the present invention, an exhaust purification catalyst (13) and a hydrocarbon supply valve (15) are disposed in an engine exhaust path, and NO.sub.x contained in exhaust gas is purified by injecting hydrocarbon from the hydrocarbon supply valve (15) at a predetermined cycle. With respect to the injection amount per unit time of the hydrocarbon from the hydrocarbon supply valve (15), there is a difference provided between the first half and the second half of one injection time period, and in the first-half injection time period (Y), the injection amount per unit time of hydrocarbon is made to be less as compared to the second-half injection time period (X).
After-Treatment System
An after-treatment system includes, in series along an exhaust gas flow direction through the after-treatment system: a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), a diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) delivery device, a soot-reducing device and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst.
Inclined perforated plate at radial inlet
An exhaust component extends between a first end and a second end. The exhaust component defines an internal cavity with a central axis that extends from the first end to the second end. The exhaust component includes an inlet and an outlet, wherein the inlet extends transversely relative to the central axis. A perforated plate is positioned within the internal cavity at the inlet. The perforated plate extends obliquely relative to the center axis.
DUAL PURPOSE CLAMP FOR SECURING AFTERTREATMENT HOUSING JOINTS
An apparatus comprises a housing comprising a housing first portion and a housing second portion. The housing first portion comprises a first joint portion overlapping a second joint portion of the housing second portion so as to form a housing joint. A clamp is positioned on the housing joint and comprises a base portion. A first surface of the base portion is positioned on the housing joint. A plurality of legs extend from the base portion towards the housing each of which are spaced from each other around the housing joint. A plurality of flange segments extend from each side of the base portion away from the housing. A band is positioned on a second surface of the base portion opposite the first surface and around the clamp. The band is positioned between the plurality of flange segments and operatively coupled to the housing via the clamp.
Catalyst component of a motor vehicle exhaust gas cleaning system and use of a catalyst component
A motor vehicle emission control system includes a three zone catalytic converter component having a honeycomb support body with catalytically active coating having a precious metal content applied on the channel walls. The first coating zone extends in the longitudinal direction from the inlet-side end to a first coating boundary and has a first precious metal content. The second coating zone extends in the longitudinal direction from the first coating boundary to a second coating boundary situated downstream from the first coating boundary and has a second precious metal content that is lower than the first precious metal content. The third coating zone extends from the second coating boundary to the outlet-side end and has a third precious metal content that is lower than the second precious metal content. The coating has oxidation catalyst activity and is free of rhodium.
Engine apparatus
An object in mounting an engine on an exhaust gas purifier is to ensure the coupling strength between the engine and a hanger and to balance the whole engine at the time of lifting while avoiding interference between the exhaust gas purifier and the hanger. An engine apparatus includes an exhaust gas purifier configured to purify exhaust gas from the engine. The exhaust gas purifier is mounted on the engine through a mounting base. A lower end of the hanger, which is configured to lift the engine, is fastened to the mounting base. An upper end of the hanger is extended along an outer periphery of the exhaust gas purifier.
EXHAUST MUFFLER, TWO-STROKE ENGINE OR FOUR-STROKE ENGINE HAVING AN EXHAUST MUFFLER, AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER FOR AN EXHAUST MUFFLER
An exhaust muffler has an exhaust inlet, an exhaust outlet, as well as a catalytic converter which, in the flow direction, is disposed between the exhaust inlet and the exhaust outlet. The catalytic converter has at least one throughflow body which includes at least one wire body. At least one first component region of the throughflow body is coated with a catalytically functioning coating. The throughflow body moreover has a second component region which in terms of volume has a smaller quantity of catalytically functioning coating than the first component region.
Exhaust gas purification device
In an exhaust gas purification apparatus provided in an exhaust as path of an engine, it is an object of the present invention to shorten a pipe length of a bypass path bypassing a purification catalyst as short as possible, thereby reducing initial costs. The exhaust gas purification apparatus includes a purification casing in which at least the purification catalyst is accommodated. The purification catalyst purifies exhaust gas from the engine. The purification casing is integrally provided with the bypass path separately from the purification path in which the purification catalyst exists. The bypass path makes the exhaust gas bypasses the purification catalyst without passing through the purification catalyst.
