Exhaust control system
An exhaust management system for use in a motor vehicle having a muffler and a combustion engine generating an exhaust also has a bypass channel configured to be mounted to bypass the muffler of the exhaust system. The system also has a valve controlling air flow through the bypass channel, and a controller operably coupled with the valve. The controller is configured to be switchable between at least two modes. The at least two modes include a provider dynamic mode configured to be modified by a provider only, and a user dynamic mode configured to be modified by a user. The user has no rights to modify the provider dynamic mode.
GASOLINE PARTICULATE FILTER DIAGNOSTICS
Methods and systems are provided for diagnostics of a gasoline particulate filter in an exhaust system. In one example, a method may include indicating degradation of a hose coupled across a particulate filter responsive to a difference between a first differential pressure and a second differential pressure being greater than a threshold, the first differential pressure measured by a differential pressure sensor positioned in the hose responsive to a downstream exhaust tuning valve being fully open, the second differential pressure measured by the differential pressure sensor responsive to the exhaust tuning valve being fully closed.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR A SPLIT EXHAUST ENGINE SYSTEM
Methods and systems are provided for operating a split exhaust engine system that provides blowthrough air and exhaust gas recirculation to an intake passage via a first exhaust manifold and exhaust gas to an exhaust passage via a second exhaust manifold. In one example, the engine system may be installed in a hybrid vehicle, and, in response to a request to restart the engine while the vehicle is being propelled via motor torque only, the engine may be rotated unfueled via the motor torque at less than cranking speed while at least partially opening a valve disposed in a passage coupled between the first exhaust manifold and the intake passage. In another example, in response to the request to restart the engine, all exhaust valves of a second set of exhaust valves coupled to the second exhaust manifold may be deactivated.
Exhaust sound bypass
A vehicle comprising: an internal combustion engine having a cylinder and an exhaust manifold for collecting exhaust gases expelled from the cylinder; an exhaust system configured to channel exhaust gases along a flow path from the exhaust manifold to an exhaust outlet, the exhaust system comprising an exhaust component configured to cause an alteration to engine-generated sound pulses passing through the exhaust component; and a sound bypass device comprising a sound inlet port at a first location on the exhaust system before a first exhaust component along the flow path and a sound outlet port at a second location on the exhaust system after the first exhaust component along the flow path, the sound bypass device being configured to transmit engine-generated sound pulses from the sound inlet port to the sound outlet port whilst preventing flow of exhaust gases from the sound inlet port to the sound outlet port.

In another example, in response to the request to restart the engine, all exhaust valves of a second set of exhaust valves coupled to the second exhaust manifold may be deactivated.
Variable Exhaust Control System
An apparatus for adjusting power and noise characteristics of an internal combustion engine comprises a wall configured to define an engine cylinder that includes a bore and a compression relief passage. A compression relief valve is configured to selectively adjust fluid flow capacity of the compression relief passage. A manifold is configured to be in fluid communication with the exhaust passage and includes an exhaust bypass valve to permit exhaust to at least partially bypass a noise suppressor. Operational characteristics of the engine can be adjusted along a range that extends from a first set of operational characteristics present when both the compression relief valve and the exhaust bypass valve are in a fully open position to a second set of operational characteristics present when both the compression relief valve and the exhaust bypass valve are in a fully closed position.
Gasoline particulate filter diagnostics

In one example, a method may include indicating degradation of a hose coupled across a particulate filter responsive to a difference between a first differential pressure and a second differential pressure being greater than a threshold, the first differential pressure measured by a differential pressure sensor positioned in the hose responsive to a downstream exhaust tuning valve being fully open, the second differential pressure measured by the differential pressure sensor responsive to the exhaust tuning valve being fully closed.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING A SINGLE-SHAFT DUAL EXPANSION INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
An internal combustion engine includes first and second power cylinders and an expander cylinder, and is configured to operate in an expander mode and a bypass mode by selectively fluidly coupling exhaust flow from the first and second power cylinders to the expander cylinder. Operation includes commanding a transition from the bypass mode to the expander mode, including retarding openings of intake valves of the first and second power cylinders to a LIVC position. Exhaust valves of the power cylinders are controlled to effect fluid flow to the expander cylinder, and opening of an outlet valve of the expander cylinder is controlled to a maximum advanced state. The openings of the intake valves of the first and second power cylinders are controlled to desired positions associated with engine operation in the expander mode.
COMPACT DEVICE FOR PURIFICATION AND RECIRCULATION OF EXHAUST GAS
The device includes an upstream pipe, extending along a first direction, and in which at least one purification member is housed, a first downstream pipe, extending along a second direction, and in which at least one heat exchanger is housed, and a second downstream pipe configured to be connected to an exhaust gas outlet tube. The device also includes an intermediate chamber comprising an exhaust gas inlet communicating with the upstream pipe, downstream from the at least one purification member, a first exhaust gas outlet communicating with the first downstream pipe, and a second exhaust gas outlet communicating with the second downstream pipe. The first direction and the second direction form an angle between them comprised between 0 and 90.
EXHAUST GAS CONTROL VALVE
An exhaust gas control valve includes a housing having an interior wall defining a housing interior, a pinion gear coupled to the housing and configured to be rotatably driven, and a helical gear configured to receive torque from the pinion gear and including a plurality of helically arranged teeth. The exhaust gas control valve also includes a valve member disposed at least partially in the housing interior of the housing. The valve member includes a valve shaft extending along an axis and having first and second shaft ends, and a valve body coupled to the valve shaft adjacent to the second shaft end and moveable with the valve shaft along the axis between a first valve position and a second valve position.
