PROTECTIVE SPORTS HELMET
A protective sports helmet that includes an energy attenuating faceguard connection system, which includes at least one connector that secures the faceguard to the helmet shell without a connection point in the shell's brow region. The lack of a brow region connection point results in a gap or clearance between the faceguard and the shell that has a functional interplay with the connector upon an impact to the faceguard. In general terms, when a substantially on-center impact to the faceguard occurs, the faceguard is displaced towards the shell and the connector bracket flexes outward relative to the helmet shell to help dissipate impact energy.
Non-newtonian materials for the prevention of mild traumatic brain injury
An improved design for an athletic helmet incorporating non-Newtonian fluid shock absorbing structures.
Impact-attenuation sub-layer for a shoulder-pad system
Aspects herein relate to a shoulder-pad system that may be used to attenuate impact in various contexts. The shoulder-pad system may have a number of subcomponents, which may include an impact-plate assembly, an impact-attenuation sub-layer, a base-layer garment, and a securing garment, among others. The shoulder-pad system may be described as modular, in that the various subcomponents may be added to, and/or removed from the system when it is desirable to do so.
Article with a cushioning assembly having inner and outer bladder elements with interfitting features and method of manufacturing an article
An article includes a cushioning assembly which has a first bladder element forming a first fluid chamber, and a second bladder element within the first bladder element and forming a second fluid chamber sealed from and within the first fluid chamber. The first bladder element includes an inner surface having a first feature. The second bladder element includes an outer surface having a second feature. The first feature interfits with the second feature such that a first area of the inner surface of the first bladder element is aligned with a first area of the outer surface of the second bladder element at a bonded interface. The second bladder element is exposed to the first fluid chamber away from the bonded interface. A method of manufacturing the article includes interfitting the first feature with the second feature and bonding at the bonded interface.
PROTECTION DEVICE AND RELATED METHOD OF USE
Protector for an American football player, including, as impact absorption device, an inflatable element defining an inner chamber adapted to receive an inflation fluid and adapted to assume an active inflated condition. Use of an inflatable element as a protector for an American football player and a method for protecting an American football player are also described.
Golf glove comprising enhanced gripping feature
The presently disclosed subject matter is directed to a golf glove that provides enhanced gripping of a golf club. The golf glove includes a compartment positioned within the inside surface of the glove that houses padding material, adjacent to the user's fingers, thumb, and or palm. As a result, the user's grip pressure is reduced to an acceptable level, thereby reducing or eliminating overgripping of the golf club.
APPARATUS, SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR REDUCING HEAD OR NECK TRAUMA
A system for reducing trauma in the head or neck of a living being caused by acceleration of the head relative to a torso of the living being within a range of motion. The system includes a support engaging at least one of the head, neck, and shoulder of the living being without limiting the range of motion of the head or neck relative to the torso; a sensor in electrical communication with the system; a user interface in electrical communication with the sensor; and a damper associated with the support that is configured to mitigate the position, speed or acceleration of the head relative to the torso in response to information received by the sensor or user interface.
Quick release connector
The present invention is directed to an improved sports helmet including a quick release connector assembly for the faceguard that allows for rapid disconnection of the faceguard from the helmet shell. The connector includes a bracket, and a coupler mechanism featuring an elongated pin, a head component, a spring, a retractable engaging element and a washer. The connector assembly is moveable between a use position, wherein the faceguard is secured to the shell by the bracket and the coupler mechanism, and a released position wherein the bracket and the faceguard are disconnected from the shell. An inwardly directed actuation force that lacks a rotational component is applied to the elongated pin to move from the use position to the released position.
Apparatus, system, and method for reducing head or neck trauma
Apparatus, systems, and methods are provided for the reduction of head or neck trauma in a living being by mitigating the acceleration experienced by the head, relative to the torso, during a change in motion; for example, creating a neck support that provides improved extension, compression, rotation, and bending properties to the neck in order to control the acceleration experienced by the head. The apparatus can be configured to create a neck support in which acceleration of the head, relative to the torso, is reduced with minimal structure, discomfort, and other potential downsides to the user of the apparatus.
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING AN ARTICLE OF SPORT GEAR
A method of manufacturing an article of sport gear, the method comprising: providing a first component; making a second component by: (i) applying heat to expand polymeric microspheres each comprising a polymeric shell and a fluid encapsulated in the polymeric shell to produce a core of polymeric cellular material that comprises a first side and a second side opposite one another and a body of expanded polymeric microspheres; (ii) molding a covering onto the core of polymeric cellular material such that the covering covers at least part of the first side and at least part of the second side of the core of polymeric cellular material; and mounting the second component to the first component.
