A valve assembly for an exhaust system of a vehicle. The valve assembly includes a housing, a valve shaft and a valve plate. The housing defines an inlet, an outlet, and a longitudinally exhaust gas passageway in fluid communication with the inlet and the outlet. The valve shaft is rotatable. The valve plate is coupled to the valve shaft and is rotatable between a first position restricting exhaust gas flow through the exhaust gas passageway, and a second position whereat exhaust gas flow through the exhaust gas passageway is less restricted. The first housing includes spaced apart ears integral with and laterally extending from the first housing. The ears opposing each other. The shaft includes an axis of rotation being positioned at the ears and outside of the exhaust gas passageway.

The second cross-sectional area is larger than the first cross-sectional area. The system also includes an impeller rotatably mounted in the housing, and a filter subassembly. The filter subassembly removes part of particulate matter and liquid droplets in the exhaust emissions to transform the exhaust emissions into modified exhaust emissions.

A turbine wheel consists of a first shroud component and a second bladed disc component. The shroud component comprises a shroud structure, a hub structure and a spoke formed integrally therewith and extending between the shroud structure and the hub structure. The bladed disc component comprises a hub member having inner and outer rims, turbine blades disposed on the outer rim, and at least one receiving zone for receiving the spoke, said at least one receiving zone extending radially between the inner and outer rims. The shroud component and the bladed disc component are connected and thus provide the turbine wheel with a shrouded portion. A shrouded turbine wheel can therefore be conveniently assembled starting from at least two components. Further, these components have simplified geometries for easy manufacture, for example using a casting technique, while the overall mechanical performance of the turbine is preserved or improved.

The exhaust extractor includes coaxial inner and outer tubes separating a flow into an inner flow inside the inner tube and an outer flow between the tubes and merging near the exhaust extractor outlet. Helically oriented vanes extend radially from an outer face of the inner tube and reliefs are cut into the inner tube to allow gasses to flow to the outer flow. The inner tube is held in place by end pieces connecting the inner tube to the outer tube. The end pieces include fan blades with wing shaped cross-sections to increase the velocity of exhaust gasses flowing through the exhaust extractor. The fan-like supports and helically oriented vanes cause the outer flow to rotate about a central axis. The exhaust extractor is constructed from only six parts requiring only two welds.
