An optimized structure for an integrated catalytic muffler is provided to purify exhaust gas from an engine and reduce noise when the exhaust gas flows to the rear of a vehicle. The structure includes a case having an inlet and an outlet, and an SCR catalytic unit that is mounted to the case. Particularly, a portion of the SCR catalytic unit is inserted into the case and the remaining portion is exposed out of the case. The SCR catalytic unit is coupled to the case by bolting or clamping. Accordingly, the production cost and weight are reduced, and maintenance and repair are facilitated.

A muffler includes a shell, baffles, and a plurality of pipes. The shell defines first and second end cavities and a central cavity. The end cavities have larger cross-sectional areas that a cross-sectional area of the central cavity. The baffles cooperate to form multiple chambers within the shell. A first inlet directs a first portion of the exhaust into a first chamber. A second inlet directs a second portion of the exhaust into a second chamber. A first pipe extends through first, third and fourth baffles and includes an inlet in the fourth chamber. The first pipe directs exhaust from the fourth chamber to a first outlet at the first end cavity. A second pipe extends through the second, third and fourth baffles and includes an inlet in the third chamber. The second pipe directs exhaust from the third chamber to a second outlet at the second end cavity.

A heat exchanger system for treatment of a flow of exhaust gases in an exhaust gas aftertreatment system of a vehicle. The heat exchanger system includes a nitrogen monoxide (NO) oxidation site for oxidising nitrogenmonoxide to nitrogen dioxide (NO2). The NO oxidation site is positioned such that the flow of exhaust gases at a downstream end (40) of the NO oxidation site in use of the heat exchanger system is arranged to proceed at a temperature within a predetermined temperature interval corresponding to a desired NO to NO2(NO:NO2) ratio interval in the flow of exhaust gases. An exhaust gas aftertreatment system and a vehicle including such a heat exchanger system, and a method for using such a heat exchanger system, are also provided.

The muffler of the present invention may effectively enhance reduction of low frequency noise without having to necessarily increase package volume.

An exhaust mixer provided may be used for mixing an additive, such as urea, in exhaust fluid flow. The exhaust mixer may be useful in reducing or preventing build-up of solid additive deposits by increasing efficiency of mixing of the additive. The exhaust mixer may be located at least partially within a mixing conduit and includes plurality of elongate mixing blades held in spaced configuration by a support. Each mixing blade may have a longitudinal axis extending along a longitudinal axis of the mixing conduit, wherein an injector module may be located upstream of the inlet of the mixing conduit.

In an exhaust muffler using a double communicating tube as a communicating tube between expansion chambers, the exhaust muffler controls exhaust gas so as not to flow directly between intake and exhaust ports of an inner communicating tube and an outer communicating tube to thereby utilize the volume of the expansion chamber sufficiently. On one end side of the double communicating tube facing into a second expansion chamber, a distal end opening of the inner communicating tube functions as an intake port of an inside passage. A closing member for closing an end in the axial direction of an annular passage is provided in or in the vicinity of a distal end opening of the outer communicating tube. An exhaust port for opening the annular passage outwardly in the radial direction is provided between the closing member of the outer communicating tube and a first partition wall.
