Methods and apparatus for monitoring health of fuel oxygen conversion unit
Methods of and apparatus for monitoring the health of a fuel oxygen conversion unit for a vehicle or a vehicle engine are provided. For example, a method comprises providing a distribution of sensed values obtained from a plurality of sensors distributed along an axial length of a gas oxygen reduction unit of the fuel oxygen conversion unit and determining the health of the fuel oxygen conversion unit from the distribution. As another example, a fuel oxygen conversion unit defines a circulation gas flowpath from a fuel gas separator to a contactor and comprises a gas oxygen reduction unit positioned in the circulation gas flowpath for reducing an oxygen content of a flow of stripping gas through the circulation gas flowpath. A plurality of sensors are distributed along an axial length of the gas oxygen reduction unit.
Controlling operation of an engine based on emissions monitoring
A machine includes an engine, a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) element fixedly connected to an output of the engine, and a controller. The controller is communicatively coupled to the engine and a sensor at an output of the SCR element. The controller is configured to calculate an estimated amount of emissions at a location of the SCR element, calculate an estimated amount of emissions from an output of the SCR element, measure, using the sensor, an actual amount of emissions from the output of the SCR element, and perform a comparison of the estimated amount of emissions and the actual amount of emissions. The controller is further configured to adjust, based on the comparison, the estimated amount of emissions at the location of the SCR element, and control operation of the engine based on the adjusted amount of emissions.
Particulate matter detecting apparatus capable of mounted condition diagnosis
A particulate matter detecting apparatus (S) comprises a sensor body (S1) which has a sensor device (1) which is retained in a housing (H) secured to an exhaust pipe (101) of an internal combustion engine (ENG) and detects particulate matter contained in exhaust gas, a sensor temperature determining unit (2) which works to determine a temperature of the sensor device, and a mounted condition diagnosis unit (3) which diagnoses a mounted condition where the sensor body is mounted in the exhaust pipe. The mounted condition diagnosis unit includes a diagnosis threshold setting unit (31) and a mount error determining unit (32). The diagnosis threshold setting unit determines a diagnosis threshold (Tth), as used in a diagnosis of the mounted condition, as a function of an operating condition of the internal combustion engine to have a temperature value lower than a temperature of the sensor device when the sensor body is normally mounted in the exhaust pipe. When a sensor temperature (T), as determined by the sensor temperature determining unit, is lower than the diagnosis threshold, the mount error determining unit determines that an error in the mounted condition is occurring.
Apparatus and method for controlling a vehicle action
A control system for a vehicle, the control system comprising one or more controllers, the control system being arranged to: determine a prediction of an end of a current driving cycle of the vehicle, determine a likelihood of slippage from an emissions trap of the vehicle in a next driving cycle of the vehicle in dependence on the prediction of the end of the current driving cycle, and control purging of the emissions trap prior to the prediction of the end of the current driving cycle in dependence on the likelihood of slippage.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR AIR-FUEL RATIO IMBALANCE MONITOR
Methods and systems are provided for an exhaust system. In one example, a method may include determining presence of a zone flow based on a comparison of a first exhaust sensor and a second exhaust sensor. The presence or absence of the zone flow may determine a rate at which an air-fuel ratio is adjusted.
Method for detecting a sensor anomality
A computer implemented method for anomality detection at a first nitrogen oxide (NOx) sensor forming part of an exhaust gas aftertreatment system (EATS) is provided. The EATS is coupled downstream of an internal combustion engine (ICE). The disclosed methodology applies manipulation of the ICE for detecting such a possible anomality.
Aftertreatment system
An aftertreatment system for a diesel engine may include a diesel particulate filter configured for placement in fluid communication with the diesel engine to receive an exhaust flow. The system may also include a selective catalytic reduction system configured for arrangement downstream of the diesel particulate filter and a NO.sub.x sensor configured to measure a NO.sub.x concentration in the exhaust flow entering the selective catalytic reduction system. The system may also include a controller configured to estimate a ratio of NO.sub.2 to NO.sub.x downstream of the diesel particulate filter and based on a factor affecting the generation of NO.sub.2 upstream of the selective catalytic reduction system. The controller may also be configured to adjust the measured NO.sub.x concentration based on the ratio to provide an estimated actual NO.sub.x concentration and dose diesel exhaust fuel into the exhaust flow based on the estimated actual NO.sub.x concentration.
Method for injecting gaseous ammonia into a combustion engine exhaust line
Disclosed is a device for injecting ammonia in gaseous form into an exhaust line of a combustion engine, the device including a supervisor, an evaporation chamber incorporating a heater for heating a quantity of reducing agent thus releasing ammonia in gaseous form that exits the evaporation chamber via a pipe opening into the exhaust line. The control supervisor is associated with an internal first pressure sensor housed in the evaporation chamber and with a second pressure sensor intended to be housed in the exhaust line, including a calculator calculating a quantity of ammonia to be injected into the exhaust line at a given instant as a function of the pressure values from the first and second pressure sensors.
REDUCTANT DOSING CONTROL SYSTEM
Systems and methods for controlling a dosing of reductant for an internal combustion engine system including a catalyst are disclosed. The method includes measuring a value indicative of inlet temperature of the catalyst. When the inlet temperature is less than or equal to a first threshold, the method includes adjusting the dosing of reductant according to a first process. When the inlet temperature is greater than the first threshold, the method includes adjusting the dosing of reductant according to a second process, the second process being different than the first process.
