CONTROL DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

An internal combustion engine comprises an engine body, a filter provided in an exhaust passage of the engine body and trapping particulate matter in the exhaust, and a temperature sensor detecting a temperature of gas flowing cut from the filter. A control device controlling this internal combustion engine comprises a fuel cut control pan configured to perform fuel cut control stopping a supply of fuel to a combustion chamber of the engine body and a forced ending part configured to forcibly make the fuel cut control end even if a condition for performance of fuel cut control had stood based on a trend in change of temperature of the gas temperature detected by the temperature sensor.

REUSE EVALUATION SYSTEM FOR CATALYST

A reuse evaluation system is a system that performs an evaluation to reuse a catalyst in a state where the catalyst that purifies an exhaust gas of an engine of a vehicle 1 is mounted on the vehicle. The reuse evaluation system includes a deterioration estimator that estimates a degree of deterioration of the catalyst based on an operating state of the vehicle, a reuse setting unit that sets a range of the degree of deterioration of the catalyst as a reuse range of the catalyst according to a usage of reuse of the catalyst, and a reuse determining unit that determines that the catalyst is reusable in the reuse usages when the degree of deterioration of the catalyst estimated by the deterioration estimator is within the reuse range set by the reuse setting unit.

PRO-ACTIVE THERMAL MEASURE TO RECOVER AND OR RETAIN deNOx PERFORMANCE

A short cyclic thermal treatment process in an engine aftertreatment system of a diesel engine in a vehicle, which may be able to recover and/or retain NOx conversion performance of an engine aftertreatment system by keeping the system clean from unintended pollution like accumulated urea deposits. The thermal treatment process is controlled by a process controller, arranged to carry out a long cyclic cleaning process at a first time interval, at a first exhaust gas temperature higher than the operational temperature in regeneration mode; combined with a short cyclic thermal treatment process at a second time interval, at a second exhaust gas temperature higher than the operational temperature in non-regeneration mode; wherein the second elevated exhaust gas temperature is lower than the first temperature.

Systems and methods for purging reductant from a reductant injector

A reductant insertion system for inserting reductant into an aftertreatment system via a reductant injector comprises a reductant insertion assembly comprising a pump operatively coupled to the reductant injector via a reductant delivery line. A compressed gas source is operatively coupled to the reductant injector and provides a compressed gas to the reductant injector for gas assisted delivery of the reductant. A controller is operatively coupled to the compressed gas source and the reductant insertion assembly and configured to determine whether there is a reductant demand for the reductant. In response to there being no reductant demand, the controller stops the pump and activates the compressed gas source for a predetermined time so as to provide compressed gas to the reductant injector at a pressure sufficient to force reductant contained in the reductant injector upstream towards the reductant insertion assembly via the reductant delivery line while the pump is stopped.

Control device for internal combustion engine

A control device comprising a first exhaust temperature calculation part calculating a temperature of exhaust flowing into a PM trapping device as a first exhaust temperature, a second exhaust temperature calculation part calculating a temperature of exhaust flowing out from the PM trapping device as a second exhaust temperature, a rate of change over time calculation part calculating a rate of change over time of the first exhaust temperature and a rate of change over time of the second exhaust temperature, and a judgment part judging if the PM trapping device is in a removed state removed from the exhaust passage based on a difference between the rate of change over time of the first exhaust temperature and the rate of change over time of the second exhaust temperature.

A catalyst warming apparatus includes an air blower, a fuel feeder, and an air blowing controller. The air blower is disposed between an engine and a purification catalyst in an exhaust pipe communicating with the engine and is configured to blow air toward the purification catalyst. The fuel feeder is configured to cause the purification catalyst to retain fuel. The air blowing controller is configured to start driving the air blower at a predetermined start timing before a start of the engine.

Method of controlling regeneration of particulate filter, exhaust system for executing the same, and non-transitory computer readable recording media

A method of controlling regeneration of a particulate filter which traps particulate matter contained in an exhaust gas may include: raising, by a controller, a temperature of the exhaust gas to regenerate the particulate filter by burning the trapped particulate matter when an amount of the particulate matter trapped in the particulate filter is greater than or equal to a predetermined amount. Raising the temperature of the exhaust gas may include: raising the temperature of the exhaust gas based on a first temperature difference compensation, and raising the temperature of the exhaust gas based on a second temperature difference compensation. In particular, the first and second temperature difference compensations are calculated based on a target temperature of the exhaust gas at an upstream of the particulate filter and an actual temperature of the exhaust gas at the upstream of the particulate filter.
