FLOW CONTROL VALVE APPARATUS

A flow control valve apparatus is provided in which a main valve adjusts the flow rate of cooling water by operating a plurality of ports and a sub-valve that operates with the main valve adjusts the flow rates of the cooling water circulating through a cylinder block and a cylinder head. The flow rate of the cooling water is variously adjusted based on the operation conditions of a vehicle.

Engine thermal management device assembly having an engine accessory mounting bracket

An engine assembly having a thermal management device assembly is disclosed. The engine assembly includes an engine having an internal coolant passageway having at least one coolant port. The thermal management device assembly includes a rotary valve unit mounted on an engine accessory mounting bracket. The engine accessory mounting bracket includes an upper mounting platform having a mounting surface extending between an exterior face and an interior face of the mounting bracket, and at least one fluid channel extending through the mounting bracket from the mounting surface to the interior surface. The rotary valve unit is mounted onto the upper mounting platform. The at least one fluid channel of the engine accessory mount provides fluid communication between the coolant port of the internal coolant passageway of the engine and a valve port of the rotary valve unit.

Systems and methods for engine pre-chamber coolant flow

Methods and systems are provided for a pre-chamber. In one example, a system comprises flowing a mixture of coolants to a coolant chamber of the pre-chamber. Additionally or alternatively, only one coolant may be directed to the coolant chamber during some conditions.

COOLING WATER FLOW CONTROL DEVICE OF COOLING SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE

A cooling water flow control device of a cooling system for a vehicle can shorten a warm-up time of a cooling water being supplied to an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler. The cooling water flow control device includes: the EGR cooler that cools an exhaust gas supplied to an intake system of an engine using cooling water and includes an EGR cooler outlet through which the cooling water is discharged; a water pump to circulate the cooling water to the EGR cooler and the engine at an engine startup; and a direct flow path connected to a vent hole formed in the engine to guide the cooling water from the vent hole to a downstream side of an EGR cooler outlet.

Methods and systems for a cooling arrangement

Methods and systems are provided for a cooling arrangement. In one example, the cooling arrangement comprises flowing coolant to only an upper portion of a cylinder head during a cold-start. The cooling arrangement comprises flowing coolant to a cylinder block, a lower portion of the cylinder-head, and the upper portion of the cylinder head outside of the cold-start.

Engine coolant system and method

Methods and systems are provided for a coolant system coupled to cylinders in a locomotive engine. In one example, a coolant system coupled to an individual cylinder may include a cylinder liner jacket encircling the cylinder, a cylinder head lower coolant jacket surrounding a lower surface of a cylinder head placed over the cylinder, a cylinder head upper coolant jacket surrounding an upper surface of the cylinder head, and a cylinder head exhaust port cooling jacket surrounding an exhaust port of the cylinder. Coolant may flow to each of the cooling jackets from a coolant feed gallery located in the engine crankcase, and after flowing through the engine, the coolant may return to a coolant return gallery also located in the engine crankcase.

Coolant flow control apparatus, cooling system provided with the same and control method for the same

A coolant flow control apparatus may include a coolant controller housing of which an inlet for coolant to flow in, an outlet for the coolant to flow out, a first coolant supply line and a second coolant supply line are formed, a water pump mounted to the coolant controller housing for transmitting the coolant, a valve plate selectively opening/closing the first coolant supply line, a valve piston selectively opening/closing the second coolant supply line, a driving unit selectively moving the valve plate and the valve piston for closing or opening the first coolant supply line and the second coolant supply line respectively and a controller configured for controlling an operation of the driving unit.

Method and system for determining thermal state

Systems and methods are provided for determining a temperature of a thermal system that includes fluid conduits. A sensor monitors a current state of the temperature. A controller receives a signal from the sensor that is representative of the current state; determines a flow in the fluid conduits; determines a noise covariance of the thermal system; processes a thermal model of the thermal system; predicts a next-step state of the parameter at a time after the current state; and corrects the next-step state based, at least in-part, on the noise covariance resulting in a corrected next-step state.

Temperature responsive variable water pump and engine cooling system

A water pump of an engine cooling system includes a thermal valve that divides an outlet space of a pump housing of an outlet port, through which the engine coolant pumped into the internal space of a pump housing is discharged, into a front end discharge region and a rear end discharge region. The thermal valve also forms a dual flow path through which the engine coolant is discharged to the front end discharge region and the rear end discharge region according to the increase of the coolant temperature. The cooling of a cylinder block and a cylinder head of an engine are thus separately adjusted.
