Method and system for vehicle cooling systems

Methods and system for operating a vehicle cooling system are described. In one example, the vehicle cooling system cools a heat generating device via a fan and pump. A speed of the fan is commanded by a feedback controller with possible neural network predictive control to track a variable temperature reference that is based on thermal load estimation. A disturbance observer may be applied to observe thermal load and an observer-based observer may be used to generate the temperature reference so that the power consumption of a fan is minimized.

To provide such a cooling fan control device, a cooling device, and a cooling fan control method that can cool a heat exchanger appropriately according to an air density. A cooling fan control device controls a rotation speed of a cooling fan being driven by power supplied from an alternator and cooling the heat exchanger. The cooling fan control device comprises a density detection means detecting the air density. The cooling fan control device comprises a controller, where the smaller the air density detected by the density detection means is, the greater an upper limit of target rotation speed of the cooling fan is set, as long as power consumption of the cooling fan does not exceed a power capacity of a power supply source.

CENTRALIZED COOLING SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE BRAKES, WHEELS, TIRES AND BEARINGS
20220250605 · 2022-08-11 ·

The invention comprises a centralized cooling system for motorized vehicle's brakes, wheels, tires, and bearings, controlled by a Central ECU Module. The system uses one or more fans, preferably brushless, intelligently managed by the Central ECU Module, fixed to the chassis or unibody of the vehicle and connected to forced air outlet ducts, so that the air is channeled directly to the wheel hubs of the vehicle's axles. The system uses, individually or together, through the collection and processing of data by the Central ECU Module, several technical information collected by the vehicle's peripherals, so that it manages the use of the brake cooling system fans intelligently, in relation to the potency applied, the duration the fan is on when the vehicle is turned on and the duration the fan is on when the vehicle is turned off.

The fan end portion includes a mounting portion and a coupling portion. The coupling portion of the fan end portion is configured to be coupled to the coupling portion of the base, and the fan end portion is removably couplable to the base via one or more coupling elements to prevent relative rotation between the base and the fan end portion.

Motor Controller

A motor controller includes a temperature sensor configured to detect a temperature of a motor. An intermittent operation circuit allows the motor to intermittently operate at a rotation speed up to a phase before the motor reaches a rated rotation speed when it is detected that the motor temperature is at a low temperature range. The intermittent operation circuit includes a position fixing circuit configured to allow a constant electric current to flow through stator coils and to fix the motor in a stopped state. The intermittent operation circuit further includes a forced commutation circuit that allows the motor to rotate at a rotation speed up to the start-up rotation. The position fixing circuit allows the constant electric current to have a greater value as the temperature detected by the temperature sensor is lower, and allows the position fixing circuit and the forced commutation circuit to operate alternately.
