The present disclosure provides an engine cooling system having a coolant temperature sensor to sense the temperature of coolant discharged from an engine; a radiator radiating heat while part of the coolant discharged from the engine is passed through the radiator; a coolant control valve unit to control coolant passing through the radiator and coolant supplied from the engine; and a control unit configured to control the temperature of coolant by controlling the coolant control valve unit according to the coolant temperature sensed by the coolant temperature sensor, wherein the control unit calculates a coolant temperature at an entrance of the engine using the sensed coolant temperature and a heat rejection rate of the engine based on the operation condition, calculates a temperature of coolant discharged from the radiator, and controls the opening degree of the coolant control valve unit using the coolant temperatures.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING COOLANT CIRCULATING IN ENGINE
The present disclosure provides a method and system, for controlling a coolant circulating in an engine, including: selecting a reference inlet temperature for a coolant flowing through a coolant inlet of an engine; controlling an open rate of the coolant control valve unit based on the reference inlet temperature; sensing an actual inlet temperature of the coolant flowing through the coolant inlet of the engine; sensing an actual outlet temperature of a coolant flowing through a coolant outlet of the engine; calculating a difference value between the actual inlet temperature and the actual outlet temperature; and varying the reference inlet temperature according to the difference value.

The present disclosure relates to a thermostat fault diagnosis method. The method includes: a current environment temperature and a boundary temperature and initial opening temperature corresponding to the current environment temperature are acquired; engine thermal equilibrium state data determined based on coolant temperature change data in an engine are acquired; a current coolant temperature is acquired; and according to the engine thermal equilibrium state data and a relationship between the current coolant temperature and the boundary temperature and initial opening temperature, it is judged whether a thermostat is faulty.

A governing system of an engine coolant control system in which first and second portions of coolant are pumped from an engine to a regulator and back to the engine and from the engine to a radiator and back to the engine, respectively, is provided. The governing system includes a temperature sensor of the engine to sense coolant temperatures, an ambient temperature sensor of the radiator to sense ambient temperatures, a heating element disposed to heat the first portion of the coolant at one of a location upstream from the regulator and the regulator, a valve operably disposed along a section of piping through which the first portion of the coolant flows from the engine to the regulator and a controller which controls operations of the heating element and the valve in accordance with the readings of the temperature sensor of the engine and the ambient temperature sensor.
Shutter system for a motor vehicle
A shutter system is provided for a vehicle having an internal combustion engine that receives forced intake air and is cooled by an engine coolant. The vehicle includes a charge air cooler system having an intercooler for cooling the intake air and an engine cooling system. The shutter system includes a shutter positioned downstream of the intercooler and an actuator for moving the shutter between first and second positions. The shutter system further includes a sensor for generating a signal associated with a temperature of the intake air and a processor for comparing the temperature to a threshold. The actuator moves the shutter to the first position in response to receiving the first signal when the temperature is below the threshold. The actuator moves the shutter to the second position in response to receiving the second signal when the temperature is above the threshold.

Electric motor and control unit cooling system
The present disclosure is directed to a cooling system for a system, such as an electric power assisted steering (EPAS) system and the components of such system, such as a motor. The cooling system includes a temperature sensor coupled to an electric motor of the EPAS system, one or more fluid reservoirs, and a fluid transfer device coupled to the motor and to the first fluid reservoirs. The fluid transfer device extends along a length of the motor. The cooling system further includes a pump coupled to the fluid reservoir and the fluid transfer device, a control unit coupled to the sensor and the pump. The control unit is configured to activate the pump in response to temperature detected by the sensor being greater than or equal to a first threshold motor temperature. The pump transfers the fluid in the fluid reservoirs to the fluid transfer device for absorbing the heat of the motor. The fluid transfer device is configured to contain the transferred fluid.

A system including a cooling fan, an actuator with an actuator temperature sensor, and a controller is disclosed. The controller may be configured to receive temperature data from the actuator temperature sensor. The temperature data may include information relating to an actuator temperature of the actuator. The controller may be configured to compare the actuator temperature with a temperature threshold associated with the actuator, and control the cooling fan to adjust the actuator temperature based on determining that the actuator temperature satisfies the temperature threshold.
