Control device for internal combustion engine
An object of this invention is to suppress the occurrence of pre-ignition by appropriately controlling a wall surface temperature of a combustion chamber based on a target temperature region in which the frequency with which pre-ignition occurs is reflected, without causing pre-ignition to actually occur. An ECU 50 acquires a wall surface temperature of a combustion chamber 14 or an engine water temperature or the like that correlates therewith as a wall temperature parameter. The ECU 50 is equipped with data for a pre-ignition suppression temperature region that is a region in which the pre-ignition occurrence frequency is smallest among temperature regions of the wall temperature parameter. In a pre-ignition susceptibility operating region A, the wall temperature parameter is controlled so as to fall within the pre-ignition suppression temperature region by operating a cooling water amount varying mechanism 38.
Coolant control systems and methods to prevent over temperature
A coolant control system of a vehicle includes an opening module configured to determine a coolant valve (CV) opening, a flow control valve (FCV) opening, and a block valve (BV) opening based on at least one of a block temperature difference, a head temperature difference, and a coolant outlet temperature difference. A CV control module is configured to selectively actuate a CV based on the CV opening. The CV regulates coolant flow from the FCV to a radiator and a coolant channel bypassing the radiator. A BV control module is configured to selectively actuate a BV based on the BV opening. The BV regulates coolant flow from the engine block to the FCV. A FCV control module is configured to selectively actuate a FCV based on the FCV opening. The FCV regulates coolant flow from the cylinder head and the BV to the CV.
Liquid-cooled internal combustion engine comprising a cylinder block, and method for producing an associated cylinder block
Methods and system are provided for a cooling arrangement of an engine. In one example, the cooling arrangement may include first and second cooling ducts, where the second cooling ducts are arranged in gaps formed between adjacent cylinders and the first ducts are arranged outside of the gaps of the adjacent cylinders.
COOLANT PUMP AND COOLING SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE
A coolant pump for a vehicle includes an impeller mounted at one side of a shaft and configured to pump a coolant, a pulley mounted at the other side of the shaft and configured to receive torque, a pump housing including an inlet into which the coolant inflows and an outlet of which the coolant flows out, a slider disposed to be movable in a longitudinal direction of the shaft so as to selectively block or open the outlet and a driver configured to move the slider, where a passage which supplies the coolant to at least one heat exchange element is formed on the pump housing.
Cooling apparatus of internal combustion engine
The cooling apparatus of the engine according to the invention supplies the cooling water directly to the cylinder block water passage from the cylinder head water passage when the engine temperature is between first and second temperatures, and a supply of the cooling water to the heat exchanger is not requested. The first and second temperatures are lower than the engine completely-warmed temperature. The apparatus supplies the cooling water discharged from the cylinder block and head water passages, to the water passages through the heat exchanger when the engine temperature is between the second temperature and the engine completely-warmed temperature, and the supply of the cooling water to the heat exchanger is not requested.
THERMAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR A VEHICLE PROPULSION SYSTEM
A vehicle propulsion system includes an engine having a coolant inlet and a coolant outlet, a coolant pump having an outlet in communication with the engine coolant inlet, a pressure sensor in fluid communication with the engine coolant outlet and that generates a pressure signal indicative of a pressure in the engine coolant outlet, and a controller in communication with the pressure sensor and the coolant pump. The controller is programmed to control a flow of coolant through the engine from the coolant pump based upon the pressure signal.
Hybrid vehicle
An engine (2) of a hybrid vehicle (1) is configured to operate along a prescribed operation line in an operation property diagram of the engine. In addition to a first operation line (A) that optimizes fuel economy, a second operation line (B) that minimizes undesired emission of particulate matter is defined. The two operation lines substantially coincide with each other in a certain region of the diagram. A control unit (7) of the vehicle switches the operating condition between the first operation line and the second operation line when the first operation line and the second operation line substantially coincide with each other.
