Thermostat and component of an oil circuit
A thermostat includes a carrier element which can be anchored in a housing, and a valve element which is movable relative to the carrier element. The valve element contacts the carrier element in a first position, whereby a duct within the housing can be closed. In a second position, which differs from the first position, the valve element does not contact the carrier element, whereby the duct can be opened. A wax element is arranged on the carrier element and is mechanically connected to the valve element. The wax element is configured to generate a stroke in case of a temperature change, by which the valve element can be moved.
Systems and methods for controlling a variable speed water pump
Systems and methods for providing an improved strategy for controlling a variable speed water pump in a vehicle. In some embodiments, more than one water pump speed function is calculated based on values obtained from vehicle sensors, and a controller chooses among the water pump speed function results to set a water pump speed. In some embodiments, the water pump speed is increased when driveline torque is greater than a threshold amount for an amount of time that varies based on the driveline torque. In some embodiments, ambient temperature is considered while determining whether the water pump should provide full coolant flow to an auxiliary coolant loop of a trailer.
Active thermal management in a tow/haul mode
An active thermal management system for a vehicle and a method of operating the system are provided. The active thermal management system may include, but is not limited to, an exhaust gas temperature sensor, an engine metal temperature sensor, an engine coolant output temperature sensor, an engine oil temperature sensor, a cooling system, and a controller, the controller configured to determine when the vehicle is in a tow/haul mode, operate the cooling system when at least one of the temperature of the exhaust gas, the engine metal, the coolant output from the engine and the temperature of the engine oil is greater than a predetermined temperature, and operate the cooling system to bypass a radiator when all of the temperature of the exhaust gas, the engine metal, the temperature of the coolant, and the temperature of the engine oil is lower than a predetermined low temperature.
Temperature sensitive valve mechanism
A pump housing has a main oil passage, a return oil passage provided substantially in parallel with the main oil passage, and a valve insertion hole extending across the main oil passage such that a closed fore end of the valve insertion hole reaches in the vicinity of the return oil passage. The valve insertion hole has a female screw formed at an open end thereof, and a through-hole is formed in the pump housing, having one end connected to the valve insertion hole at a portion adjacent to the closed fore end thereof and an opposite end opened to the outside of the pump housing. With the valve insertion hole thus provided, a temperature sensitive valve mechanism can be readily inserted in the valve insertion hole at any time.
COOLING DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A cooling device for an internal combustion engine includes a circulation path, a coolant temperature sensor, a coolant pump, and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to execute processing for performing feedback control on power of the coolant pump such that the output of the coolant temperature sensor becomes a target temperature, micelle determination processing for determining whether or not micelles are added to a coolant based on pump work of the coolant pump and the flow rate of the coolant flowing through the circulation path, Toms determination processing for determining whether or not the flow rate of the coolant satisfies a Toms effect expression condition, and correction processing for increasing a relative value of the output of the coolant temperature sensor with respect to the target temperature when the micelles is added and the Toms effect expression condition is established.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DIAGNOSING STUCK ATWU VALVE
Methods and systems are provided for diagnosing a stuck Active Transmission Warmup (ATWU) valve. In one example, a method for an ATWU valve monitoring routine of a vehicle comprises determining a temperature difference between an engine coolant temperature (ECT) and a transmission fluid temperature (TFT) over a duration before the ATWU valve is commanded from a closed position to an open position or from the open position to the closed position comparing a rate of change of the TFT before and after the ATWU valve is commanded to the open position or the closed position; and indicating a stuck ATWU valve based on at least one of the temperature difference, the TFT rate of change comparison, or a combination thereof, based on a calibration parameter.
Airflow Control System For An Agricultural Machine
Agricultural machines such as sprayers can be improved by providing a control system configured to adjust an engine cooling package fan with variable speeds, to thereby minimize parasitic losses, based on progress of the HVAC system for attaining a desired temperature in the operator cab. In one aspect, as a gap between actual and desired temperatures (temperature differential) in the cab minimizes, the cooling package fan can be variably adjusted to increase or decrease in speed, depending on heating or cooling occurring in the cab, respectively. However, if a temperature of an area in the engine compartment reaches a predetermined threshold, such variable speed control can cease, and the cooling package fan can instead be controlled to cool the area.
COOLING DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE OF VEHICLE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF
A cooling device for an internal combustion engine of a vehicle according to the claimed invention includes: an electric water pump; a first path including a cooling water passage in a cylinder head and extending through a heater core for air heating and a radiator; and a second path bypassing the heater core and radiator. When the internal combustion engine is automatically stopped while the vehicle is stopping, the cooling device causes the electric water pump to operate, and increases the cooling water circulation ratio through the first path while reducing the cooling water circulation ratio through the second path. Thereby, the cooling device improves fuel economy during acceleration at the vehicle start from the automatic stop state of the internal combustion engine while suppressing the deterioration of the air heating performance during the automatic stop of the internal combustion engine while the vehicle is stopping.
Cooling Device for Internal Combustion Engine of Vehicle and Control Method Thereof
The cooling device according to the present invention includes an electric water pump for circulating cooling water through an internal combustion engine of a vehicle, and controls the discharge flow rate of the electric water pump as follows. Until the cooling water temperature. TW reaches a warm-up completion determination temperature, the cooling device increases the discharge flow rate along with an increase of the cooling water temperature TW. After the cooling water temperature TW reaches the warm-up completion determination temperature, the cooling device controls the discharge flow rate so as to bring the combustion chamber wall temperature TCYL toward a target temperature. Thereby, the cooling device can warm up the internal combustion engine more efficiently, and improve the combustion performance of the internal combustion engine after the completion of warm-up.
