METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING WATER PUMP FOR VEHICLE
A method for controlling a water pump for a vehicle includes: determining whether an engine is on; measuring a coolant temperature of the engine and an RPM of the engine when the engine is determined to be operated; determining whether the measured coolant temperature is equal to or greater than a predetermined coolant temperature; determining an RPM of a water pump, which adjusts a coolant flow rate, from the measured coolant temperature and the measured RPM of the engine, when the measured coolant temperature is determined to be equal to or greater than the predetermined coolant temperature; and controlling the water pump such that the water pump is operated according to the determined RPM of the water pump.
Coolant circuit for a liquid-cooled transmission
A coolant circuit has an engine cooling circuit in which coolant can be circulated in order to cool an internal combustion engine via a cylinder head cooling circuit and a crankcase cooling circuit separated from the cylinder head cooling circuit. The coolant circuit includes a transmission cooling circuit for cooling a transmission, the transmission cooling circuit branching off from the engine cooling circuit. A valve is arranged in the transmission cooling circuit. A controller is designed to open and close the valve depending on an operating state of the internal combustion engine and/or the transmission. In particular, the transmission cooling circuit branches off from the crankcase cooling circuit to a section along which the crankcase cooling circuit is separated from the cylinder head cooling circuit.
Fan drive system and management system
A fan drive system includes a hydraulic pump, a hydraulic motor that rotates a fan on the basis of hydraulic oil supplied from the hydraulic pump, a data acquisition unit that acquires an actual fan speed of the fan, a target amount determination unit that determines a target fan speed of the fan on the basis of a state of an object to be cooled of the fan, and an estimating unit that estimates a state of the hydraulic pump or a state of the hydraulic motor on the basis of a change of a feedback amount that indicates a difference between the target fan speed and the actual fan speed.
Method for controlling water pump for vehicle
COOLANT STOP LOGIC
Method and systems for determining when to cancel coolant stop. An initial coolant temperature value is measured. The initial coolant temperature value is used to create Multiple Control Valve (MCV) opening thresholds. A first threshold is generated for MCV opening threshold for engine speed. A second threshold is generated for MCV opening for intake air mass flow. A comparison is made between the first threshold and the currently measured engine speed and/or a comparison is made between the second threshold and the currently measured intake air mass flow. The comparison(s) are then used to determine when to cancel coolant stop and open the MCV.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR DIAGNOSING AN ACTIVE GRILLE SHUTTER SYSTEM
Methods and systems are provided for diagnosing an active grille shutter (AGS) system. In one example, a method may include indicating degradation of an AGS system of a vehicle based on an infrared image information obtained from a camera coupled to the vehicle and adjusting one or more engine operating parameters responsive to the indicating.
Useful life prediction system for cooling components
A system for determining a remaining useful life of a cooling component operatively connected to a prime mover. A controller performs a thermal strain analysis that includes determining the power output of the prime mover based upon sensor signals, determining a temperature output of the prime mover based upon the power output, determining a temperature at each of the plurality of analysis locations based upon the temperature output, determining a temperature difference based upon the temperature at each respective one of the plurality of analysis locations, and determining a thermal strain based upon the temperature difference. The controller repeats the thermal strain analysis at time intervals over a period of time, determines an accumulated damage for the cooling component based upon the thermal strain from each thermal strain analysis, and determines a remaining useful life of the cooling component based upon the material characteristics and the accumulated damage.
Method and system for controlling coolant circulating in engine
The present disclosure provides a method and system, for controlling a coolant circulating in an engine, including: selecting a reference inlet temperature for a coolant flowing through a coolant inlet of an engine; controlling an open rate of the coolant control valve unit based on the reference inlet temperature; sensing an actual inlet temperature of the coolant flowing through the coolant inlet of the engine; sensing an actual outlet temperature of a coolant flowing through a coolant outlet of the engine; calculating a difference value between the actual inlet temperature and the actual outlet temperature; and varying the reference inlet temperature according to the difference value.
Coolant circulation system for vehicle-mounted internal combustion engine
A coolant circulation system includes a coolant circuit including a water jacket, a motor-driven pump, an outlet liquid temperature sensor, and a controller. The controller executes variation determination control for driving the motor-driven pump to determine whether a variation in the temperature of the coolant in a diesel engine is equal to or less than a predetermined value based on an outlet temperature detected by the outlet liquid temperature sensor. The controller executes circulation stop control on condition that it is determined that the variation in the temperature of the coolant is equal to or less than the predetermined value. The controller changes the period during which the circulation stop control is executed in accordance with the outlet liquid temperature detected at the start of the circulation stop control.
ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM HAVING A COOLANT CONTROL VALVE UNIT
An engine cooling system has a coolant control valve unit and includes a cylinder head disposed on a cylinder block. The coolant control valve unit is configured to receive coolant from a coolant outlet side of the cylinder head to control coolant distributed to a heater and a radiator and to control coolant exhausted from the cylinder block. A control unit is configured to determine a heating priority mode according to operation conditions and to substantially open a first coolant passage corresponding to the heater by controlling the coolant control valve unit in the heating priority mode.
