SYSTEMS, METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR DIFFERENTIAL AIR PRESSURE DEVICES
Described herein are various embodiments of differential air pressure systems and components for differential air pressure systems. The air pressure systems comprise a chamber for receiving at least a portion of a user's body. Pressure in the chamber can be changed to adjust force on the user's body. Described herein are various methods and related structures for sealing a user into a pressurizable chamber. Also described herein are various methods and related structures for changing the shape and/or height of the chamber. Described herein are various types and configurations of chambers and support structures for chambers. Also described herein are various methods and related systems for treating various conditions using the differential air pressure systems, including but not limited to obesity, cardiac disease, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, or Down Syndrome.
BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTION SPORTSWEAR GARMENT
A sportswear garment comprising means for adjustably compressing at least one major vein in a user's limb such that blood flow through the at least one major vein is restricted.
SYSTEM, METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR APPLYING AIR PRESSURE ON A PORTION OF THE BODY OF AN INDIVIDUAL
A system is provided by applying pressure to a portion of a body of an individual in a chamber having an aperture along a vertical axis for receiving the portion of the body of the individual. A pressure sensor is coupled to the chamber for measuring a pressure inside the chamber. A negative feedback control system, calibrates, adjusts and maintains the pressure inside the chamber.
Blood flow restriction exercise strap
A blood flow restriction (BFR) exercise strap. The strap is configured with a coupling at a first end of an elastic band. A second free end of the band is releasably retained in the coupling by a lever arm that is biased in a closed configuration against a plurality of teeth carried on an interior surface of the base. The band has graduated indicia carried thereon for determining a constriction level applied by the band to a limb of the user. The graduated indicia allow the user to set a desired level of constriction on each of a left limb and a right limb to provide the user to develop bilateral symmetry of targeted muscle groups of the limbs.
PRESSURE CHAMBER AND LIFT FOR DIFFERENTIAL AIR PRESSURE SYSTEM WITH MEDICAL DATA COLLECTION CAPABILITIES
A differential air pressure system has a pressure bag with windows and preferred folding configuration such that when the bag is folded no window is folded. The pressure bag is supported by a lift support that is proximal to a user control panel and adjacent to or nearly adjacent to the user who is coupled to the pressure bag. A treadmill base for use with differential air pressure equipment is provided. There are various improvements provided to adapt the operations of the DAP system via the use of separate pressure volume and non-pressure volume portions of the treadmill base. Various improvements to serviceability and repairs are provided by placement of components outside of the pressure volume portion or by providing one or more pressure volume access points.
Appropriate pressure determination device, appropriate pressure determination system, and method for determining appropriate pressure
A method of determining a more suitable appropriate pressure for use in muscle strength enhancement methods involving the restriction of blood flow. The pressure of air in a gas bladder of a compression band is temporarily increased to a pressure higher than a presumed appropriate pressure and then gradually reduced. During this process, a pulse wave amplitude is measured, and a maximum pulse wave pressure, which is the pressure of the air in the gas bladder at a time when the pulse wave amplitude that is temporarily increased and then reduced has its maximum value is specified by a maximum pulse wave pressure specifying unit 12E. The unit 12E sends maximum pulse wave pressure data representing a maximum pulse wave pressure to an appropriate pressure calculating unit 12F. The unit 12F multiplies the maximum pulse wave pressure by a coefficient to obtain an appropriate pressure.
METHOD OF GAIT EVALUATION AND TRAINING WITH DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE SYSTEM
There is described an integrated unweighted gait training system having an unweighting system comprising a computer controller; a gait measurement system in communication with the controller; and a display in communication with the computer controller adapted and configured to provide real-time feedback to a user of the integrated unweighting gait training system. The unweighting system may be a differential air pressure (DAP) unweighting system or a non-DAP unweighting system.
Unweighting enclosure, system and method for an exercise device
An inflatable unweighting enclosure for an exercise device is provided formed from a pair of opposing sheets attached to each other by a seam along a closed shape at their perimeter portions, each of which has a top region, an opposite base region, and central region. A trim path interrupts each articulated shape at the base region that defines a perimeter of a base opening for the enclosure when inflated, in which the base and base opening are substantially planar and the base perimeter defines an enclosure inlet. When inflated, the pair of flexible sheets expand laterally apart to define an enclosure inner space and form an elongate, disc-shaped structure interrupted by the base opening. The base opening attaches to a base support of the exercise device, which is shaped and sized to orient and support the enclosure vertically for providing unweighting to a user attached to a top opening.
DAP system control and related devices and methods
A method for controlling a DAP system is provided that includes calculating a user seal interface height based on an estimated user height, and based thereon determining an attachment carriage height and a usage carriage height different than the user seal interface height. The method also includes driving powered vertical lifts to raise each carriage to an attachment position at the attachment carriage height while the user is in the DAP system through the top opening including raising about the user the seal frame attached to the carriages and thereby raising the top opening attached to the seal frame, and also controlling the lifts to retain the attachment position during user seal attachment and confirming the attachment. Responsive to confirming, the method includes driving the lifts to move each carriage to a usage position at the usage carriage height and inflating the enclosure to an unweighting.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANAGEMENT AND SCHEDULING OF DIFFERENTIAL AIR PRESSURE AND OTHER UNWEIGHTED OR ASSISTED TREATMENT SYSTEMS
Systems and methods for management and scheduling of differential air pressure (DAP) and other unweighted or assisted treatment systems are provided. The methods and systems can include generation of a suggested workout based on matching user data to data of other users sharing similar characteristics using an aggregate database of user information and related workout information. The methods and systems can include matching a user to an available and/or appropriate DAP system. Also provided are methods and systems including performing a workout and uploading performance information to an aggregate database of user information.
