An opposed-piston engine includes an electronic sensor located in a charge air channel, at position between an outlet of a charge air cooler and an air intake component that distributes charge air to cylinder intake ports of the engine. The electronic sensor is disposed to measure a rate of mass airflow between the outlet of the charge air cooler and the intake component and generate electronic signals indicative of the rate of mass airflow from the charge air cooler. A control mechanization of the opposed-piston engine is electrically connected to the electronic sensor for controlling air handling devices, fuel provisioning devices, and/or EGR devices in response to the electronic signals.

The at least one cylinder arrangement (4) forms a combustion chamber (8) and includes an intake arrangement (10) for intake of charge gas, a sparkplug (12), and a pre-chamber (14). The engine (2) comprises a second compressor (16) for compressing a gaseous medium, and a pressure reducer (18). An outlet (20) of the first compressor (6) is arranged in parallel with an outlet (22) of the second compressor (16). The outlet (20) of the first compressor (6) is connected to the pre-chamber (14). The outlet (20) of the first compressor (6) and the outlet (22) of the second compressor (16) are connected to the pressure reducer (18). An outlet (24) of the pressure reducer (18) is connected to the intake arrangement (10).

A marine engine comprises a powerhead having an engine block, a cylinder head and a crankcase containing a crankshaft. Operation of the marine engine causes rotation of the crankshaft. A crankcase cover encloses the crankshaft in the crankcase. A supercharger is on the crankcase cover, the supercharger being configured to provide charge air for combustion in the powerhead. The supercharger comprises a charge air outlet for conveying charge air from the supercharger for combustion in the powerhead, the charge air outlet being oriented so as to discharge the charge air towards the powerhead.

CLEANING SYSTEM FOR AN ENGINE EXHAUST COOLER
A system and method operate by, while an engine is operating, automatically determining whether the engine is in a designated state for EGR cooler cleaning. The EGR cooler is operably coupled to the engine to receive hot EGR from an exhaust of the engine and to provide cooled EGR to an intake of the engine. The system and method also include, responsive to the engine not being in the designated state, automatically preventing a water pump system from introducing a cleaning liquid into a gas inlet of the EGR cooler.
