ISOLATOR FOR USE WITH ENGINE THAT IS ASSISTED OR STARTED BY AN MGU OR A MOTOR THROUGH AN ENDLESS DRIVE MEMBER
An isolator for isolating a device driven by an engine via an endless drive member is described. The isolator comprises a shaft adapter that is connectable with a shaft of the device, defining a shaft adapter axis, a rotary drive member that is rotatable relative to the shaft adapter and has an endless drive member engagement surface that is engageable with the endless drive member, and an isolation spring arrangement positioned to transfer torque between the shaft adapter and the rotary drive member. The isolation spring arrangement has at least one isolation spring that is axially offset from the endless drive member engagement surface. The at least one isolation spring has an outer edge that is radially outside the endless drive member engagement surface.

ATTACHMENT METHOD FOR PULLEY DEVICE AND DRIVE SHAFT AND ASSEMBLY FORMED THEREBY
In an aspect, an assembly is provided and includes a pulley device and a drive shaft. The pulley device includes a pulley and has a shaft adapter. A selected amount of combined resistance in the first and second connections to relative rotation in the second direction is generated by a threaded first connection and a second connection between the shaft adapter and the shaft at least some of which is provided by a compression force between them.
COVER FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A chain cover includes a first member, which is made of a hard plastic, and a second member, which is made of a material different from the hard plastic. The first member includes a back face, which faces an engine main body. The second member is joined to the first member. Only the back face of the first member includes a groove, which receives a seal member. The seal member provides a seal between the first member and the engine main body.

INDUSTRIAL HYBRID ENGINE
Based on further ingenuity, it is possible to support a heavy and large electric motor on an engine body with sufficient strength while driving the electric motor with a belt without slipping, thereby providing a more streamlined industrial hybrid engine. The industrial hybrid engine is provided with an endless rotation band wound around a drive pulley of a crankshaft and a motor pulley of an electric motor for motive power. The electric motor is attached to an engine case in a position-fixed state using one support bracket. The support bracket includes first and second support portions for attaching the electric motor, and attachment portions positioned between the first and second support portions for attaching the electric motor to the engine case.
Fastener-Free Idler Pulley
Belt-driven systems, such as a front-end accessory drive for an internal-combustion engine, often include one or more idler pulleys. It is typical for these idler pulleys to be retained by a bolt or bolt and washer. To obviate the bolt and washer, a fastener-less system has a shaft with a circumferential groove and a bearing with an inner race that has a circumferential ridge. An idler pulley is mounted on the bearing. The ridge engages with the groove of the shaft to retain the idler pulley/bearing on the shaft. Additionally, either a key inserted into keyways or stakes are used to avoid relative rotation of the inner race of the bearing with respect to the shaft.
TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY AND METHOD
A transmission assembly includes a ring gear configured to receive an input torque from a power source, a carrier assembly coupled to the ring gear, the carrier assembly configured to rotate about a first axis and including a housing, and a spider gear rotatably coupled to the housing, a carrier outlet shaft including a carrier outlet gear in meshed engagement with the spider gear, wherein the carrier outlet shaft is configured to transmit an output torque to a driveshaft, a control shaft including a control gear in meshed engagement with the spider gear, and a load applicator coupled to the control shaft, wherein the load applicator is configured to provide a resistive torque to the control shaft to resist rotation of the control shaft and vary a gear ratio between the driveshaft and the input shaft.

Method and Apparatus for Transferring Auxiliary Power from an Engine Crankshaft Output to a Supercharger Input That Circumvents Belt Path Obstacles
A method and apparatus that circumvents belt path obstacles in a Corvette C8 engine for transferring auxiliary power from the engine crankshaft output pulley to a supercharger input pulley by using a drive path transfer apparatus including a transfer input pulley located in the same plane as the crankshaft pulley and connected to it with the main drive belt, a transfer output pulley in a second plane spaced inboard of the first plane including the supercharger pulley, a secondary belt joining the transfer output pulley and the supercharger pulley, and a coupling shaft having the transfer input pulley at one end and the transfer output pulley at the other end, the coupling shaft being rotationally mounted in a two-piece installable bracket secured on the engine block in a location to the side of the obstruction, thereby transferring power from the engine to the supercharger without interference from the obstruction.
