Internet sports computer cellular device
09802129 · 2017-10-31 ·

A system that wirelessly integrates actual sports equipment with a computer and the internet to allow players remotely located from one another to play a competitive simulated sports game. An individual player may opt to play solo or practice to improve basic techniques. The system includes motion sensors connected to the player and a motion sensing device, all containing circuits and contact or motion sensors coupled with signal processing and radio frequency transmitter circuitry, thereby wirelessly communicate game performance information to a remote receiver-computer. The computer displays player information and visually simulates and controls a game between two players via the internet, having similar equipment and remotely located from each other. Standard sports equipment may be retrofitted with the sensors and associated circuitry to convert such equipment into “smart equipment” for use with the system. The system employs specially developed computer software to process player performance data, control game play, communicate game information between players, generate and control visual simulations and display player performance information.

Systems and methods of gathering, processing, and distributing information of a sporting event over a wireless network covering the sporting event, including a first portable device carried by a spotter of the sporting event to acquire global positioning system (GPS) data corresponding to the first portable device, to receive input data regarding status of the sporting event from the spotter, and to transmit the GPS and input data over the network, and a second portable device carried by a patron of the sporting event to receive the transmitted data, and to selectively display graphical representations of the transmitted data according to an input from the patron.

Textured sports ball
09802082 · 2017-10-31 ·

The sports ball (410) has an inner layer (416) and an outer panel (414). The inner layer (416) is secured to the outer panel (414) and several inner layers (416) and outer panels (414) are sewn together to form the sports ball (410). A strip (440) is positioned between the inner layer (416) and outer panel (414) under a white stripe (448) to raise the white stripe (448) on the sports ball (410) above the surrounding outer surface of the sports ball (410) to enhance grip. The sports ball (410) can be a football (412). A line of thread (424) can be stitched between the inner layer (416) and outer panel (414) on either side of the stripe (448) to enhance the shape retention of the sports ball (410), enhance grip and help keep the strip (440) in place. In a modification, a strip (480) is positioned between the inner layer (416) and outer panel (414) except under the white stripe (448) to form a void under the stripe (448) and enhance grip.

System and Method for Timing Personal Physical Activity
20220054928 · 2022-02-24 ·

A system and method for timing personal physical activity provides an athlete with the ability to self-time runs over specific distances from anywhere. This can be used for any event that is timed over a specified distance. A software application utilizes the internal hardware commonly provided by many smart devices, such as global positioning system (GPS) modules and accelerometers, to assist the user in tracking and recording the time and distance of a walk/run. The software application is compatible with any smart devices, such as smart phones, smart watches, and a variety of other smart wearables. In addition, GPS is utilized to track and record the distance travelled by the user. The software application also uses a stopwatch-like mechanism in order to track and record the duration of an exercise. Furthermore, the GPS distance tracker and the stopwatch-like timer may be used together to create a pacemaker/pacesetter for the user.

SLIM COURT

A basketball system is disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the system includes a rotatable hoop assembly with a hoop and backboard mounted to a support and rotatable around a vertical axis of rotation to change an angle of the hoop and the backboard relative to a particular geo-position. The system may include a programmable display device that presents a display on a surface based at least in part on the angle of the hoop and the backboard and control logic that sends commands to change the angle of the hoop and backboard relative to the particular geo-position. In some embodiments, a rebounding system is included with a ball guide that directs balls to the particular geo-position before and after a change to the angle of the hoop and the backboard.

Methods and apparatus for virtual competition

A system configured to be coupled with a participant of an activity. The system comprises: a participant activity monitoring unit configured for monitoring a performance of the activity by the participant; an activity information module configured for storing performance information corresponding to the activity; and a participant performance correlator configured for delivering comparative performance data based on the monitored performance of the activity by the participant and the stored performance information.

Accuracy ball
09789377 · 2017-10-17 ·

An accuracy ball has a target strike cover, sensors, grips, and a data core that function in combination to provide a device that a trainer can hold and a fighter can practice striking accurately. The accuracy ball has target aim points that a user attempts to strike. The ball can gather data concerning the user's performance during a workout, including strike: accuracy/precision, strength/force, number and velocity, etc. The target strike cover can provide cushioning, as needed. Internal grasp handles allow the accuracy ball to be held safely by providing protection from errant strikes. Sensors including force plates, accelerometers, gyroscopes, location sensing, temperature, pressure, humidity, etc. can all be incorporated. On/off switch, IO port (such as micro-USB), wireless communication devices, display screen, control switches, etc. can be integrated therein as well. Exported data can be tracked, analyzed, graphed, and used to enhance learning and improve skill-sets.
