A swing measurement system measures an evaluation index of a swing of a golf club using an inertial sensor. A computer is provided with: a movement trajectory calculation unit for calculating a movement trajectory of the golf club during the swing using a detection value of the inertial sensor; a shaft plane calculation unit for calculating a shaft plane of the swing based on the movement trajectory in a freely selectable section of the swing; and an angle calculation unit for calculating, as the evaluation index, a shaft plane angle formed between the face surface of the golf club and the shaft plane.

Disclosed is a combined digital scorekeeper and vibration dampener device. The device is encased in a housing fabricated from a vibration dampening and/or shock absorption material. The device includes a plurality of string channels for attaching directly to the strings of a racket, and provides a miniature scoreboard that is operated by a simple mechanical or touch button system, so as not to distract the player's from the game. In an embodiment, the device is includes wireless technology to exchange scores and other data with other digital scorekeeper devices used by other players during a game, or via a network to a remote device to document the statistics from the match or provide data for other applications or sharing with others. In an embodiment, the digital scorekeeper includes one or more inertial sensors configured to detect and/or measure various data associated with the player's performance, which can be synced to video and used with training applications.

A golf club fitting apparatus and a method for fitting using the apparatus are provided. In order to select the correct resistance, a controller can instruct the patient to perform a directed movement with an exercise band, receive exercise data from at least one sensor (e.g., a camera, like a front-facing camera, that records the patient, a plurality of sensors on or near the patient's skin, etc.) as the subject performs the directed movement, and calculate a pull force exerted by the patient on the exercise band based on at least a portion of the exercise data. The adequacy of an exercise with the exercise band for the patient is determined based on the pull force can be determined based on the calculated pull force.

An apparatus and method for measuring a swimmer's speed and conveying the speed to the swimmer in real time includes a plurality of ultrasonic beacons each having a transducer configured to emit ultrasonic signals in a pool or other body of water within which the swimmer is swimming. A wearable, waterproof, ultrasonic receiver worn by the swimmer, receives the ultrasonic signals and generates corresponding signal data. The receiver's microcontroller captures and uses the signal data to calculate the swimmer's position and speed in real time, and conveys this information to a wearable, waterproof, user interface device worn by the swimmer, the user interface device including a near-eye display disposed on the swimmer's goggles.
