SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR POWER PRODUCTION WITH SOLID FUEL COMBUSTION AND CARBON CAPTURE
The present disclosure relates to systems and methods useful for power production utilizing direct combustion of a solid fuel, such as coal, biomass, or the like. The systems and methods can combine a first power producing cycle that is an open loop or semi-closed loop cycle with a second power producing cycle that is a closed loop cycle utilizing a recycled working fluid, preferably CO.sub.2. At least one stream from the open loop or semi-closed loop cycle can be used in a heating member to provide heat to the working fluid in the closed loop cycle. The solid fuel can be combusted at conditions facilitating easier removal of solids before a gaseous stream is treated and, optionally, at least partially recycled to the combustor as a recycle stream, preferably include CO.sub.2.

Fluidizable algae-based powdered fuel and methods for making and using same
An algae-based powdered fuel is configured to be fluidized in a gas stream. The algae-based powdered fuel is manufactured by drying an algae slurry to produce a powdered composition and then comminuting the powdered composition to produce the fuel. The algae-based powdered fuel can be combusted in a gas turbine to generate electricity and/or to propel an aircraft.

Open cycle gas turbine system having an enhanced combustion efficiency
An open cycle gas turbine system includes a storage tank, a closed helical supplier, a combustor, a gas turbine, a compressor, a propeller and a generator. After the combustion gas in the combustor enters the gas turbine, the combustion gas is expanded to apply a work and to produce a power to the gas turbine so as to operate the gas turbine so that the compressor is operated to compress the air, the generator is operated to generate an electric power, and the propeller is operated to propel vehicles. The closed helical supplier has a closely sealing effect so that the high pressure combustion gas in the combustor will not leak from the closed helical supplier and will not touch the solid fuel powder in the storage tank.

COMBINED HEAT AND POWER SYSTEM USING AND PRODUCING CO2 AND METHOD OF OPERATION
A combined heat and power (CHP) system and a method of operating is provided. The CHP system includes an oxygen-air separation device. A combustion chamber has an inlet coupled to the oxygen-air separation device. The combustion chamber receives an expanded heated CO2 working gas for combustion of solid fuel and generates a CO2 exhaust gas. The expanded heated CO2 working gas comprising at least a portion of the CO2 exhaust gas. A heat exchanger receives combustion gases and outputs a cooled CO2 working gas. A turbine is provided having a compression section and an expansion section, the compression section configured to receive and compress the cooled CO2 working gas and to direct it to the heat exchanger. The turbine receives a heated CO2 working gas at the expansion section and expands the heated CO2 working gas. In an embodiment, CO2 products may be generated from the system.
