A fuel control system for an aircraft includes first and second electric motor controlled fuel pumps connect in parallel with one another to a fuel line. A plurality of fuel nozzles are connected to the fuel line to issue pressurized fuel from the fuel line with the ability to throttle flow based on system needs along with the electric pumping. At least one fuel nozzle in the plurality of fuel nozzles includes a respective sensor system. A fuel controller is operatively connected to receive input from the respective sensor system of the at least one fuel nozzle, and operatively connected to control the first and second electric motor controlled pumps based on input from the respective sensor system of the at least one fuel nozzle.

Methods and systems of starting a gas turbine engine are provided. During startup, a fuel pressure associated with a primary fuel supply of the gas turbine engine is monitored. A low-pressure event for the primary fuel supply is detected when the fuel pressure falls below a predetermined threshold. Responsive to detecting the low pressure event, an electric backup boost pump is activated by an engine controller to provide fuel to the gas turbine engine.

A fluid distribution system includes a boost supply providing a fluid flow, and a fluid metering system downstream of the boost supply. The fluid metering system supplies fluid to a downstream device. A main fluid pump supplies at least a portion of the fluid flow to the fluid metering system. A shut-off valve is positioned upstream of a main fluid pump inlet. An actuation system is positioned downstream of the boost supply. The actuation system supplies fluid to one or more hydraulically-operated devices. An actuation pump supplies at least a portion of the fluid flow to the fluid metering system and to the actuation system. A first valve is positioned between the actuation pump and the fluid metering system. The first valve and the shut-off valve are operable to switch between the main fluid pump and the actuation pump as a source of fluid supply to the fluid metering system.
Pump authority switching apparatus for a fluid distribution system
A fluid distribution system includes a boost supply providing a fluid flow, and a fluid metering system downstream of the boost supply. The fluid metering system supplies fluid to a downstream device. A main fluid pump supplies at least a portion of the fluid flow to the fluid metering system. A shut-off valve is positioned upstream of a main fluid pump inlet. An actuation system is positioned downstream of the boost supply. The actuation system supplies fluid to one or more hydraulically-operated devices. An actuation pump supplies at least a portion of the fluid flow to the fluid metering system and to the actuation system. A first valve is positioned between the actuation pump and the fluid metering system. The first valve and the shut-off valve are operable to switch between the main fluid pump and the actuation pump as a source of fluid supply to the fluid metering system.
COMPRESSOR GEOMETRY CONTROL
A system for controlling the geometry of a variable geometry compressor. The system having: a mechanical linkage operable to vary the compressor geometry; a first fluid-powered actuator arranged to operate the linkage and configured to be powered by a pressurised supply of an incompressible fluid; and a second fluid-powered actuator arranged to operate the linkage and configured to be powered by a pressurised supply of a compressible fluid. Wherein the first and second actuators are further arranged to operate in combination on the mechanical linkage such that a first actuator force exerted by the first actuator on the mechanical linkage sums with a second actuator force exerted by the second actuator on the mechanical linkage.
