NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT FOR ANIMALS VIA ADMINISTRATION OF AN ALGAL DERIVED SUPPLEMENT
An algal biomass and supernatant derived from at least one species of algae exhibits the ability to maintain general health in humans and non-human animals and promote a healthy immune system in them. Food, feed and nutritional supplements comprising an algal biomass or supernatant derived from at least one species of algae are described. Methods of maintaining general health or promoting a healthy immune system in humans and non-human animals comprises administering to the animal in need thereof an algal biomass or supernatant derived from at least one species of algae, or an extract, derivative or homeopathic compound derived from the algae species, biomass or supernatant, or a composition thereof.
SEAWEED MEAL AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
Provided are methods of making high quality seaweed meal suitable for food applications. The method comprises the steps of cleaning the fresh, dried, or rehydrated red seaweed, pretreating the red seaweed with a salt under heat, and drying and grinding the treated red seaweed to obtain the seaweed meal. Optionally, the method comprises bleaching the red seaweed, and/or hydrolyzing the red seaweed with cellulase. The seaweed meal produced by the disclosed technology has a light color, good flavor and taste, good mouthfeel, high gelling capability, great stability, and ideal smoothness and slipperiness suitable for food applications.

Transgenic microalgae and use thereof as a feed for delivery of interfering RNA molecules
Provided are non-propagating transgenic microalgae expressing at least one heterologous RNAi molecule. The RNAi-expressing non-propagating transgenic microalgae are used for oral delivery of the RNAi molecule to a target organism in its intact and functional form. The heterologous RNAi molecule, present within the microalgae, is characterized by being biologically active, exerting at least one specific effect on the organism consuming the microalgae or on a pathogen of said organism. In particular, the non-propagating transgenic microalgae are used as agents for biological control of animal and plant pests.

FOOD SUPPLEMENT
A composition comprising at least 50 mg/g of one or several omega-3 type fatty acid(s), at least 10 mg/g of one or several xanthophyll(s), at least 1 mg/g of one or several sterol(s) and at least 2 g/g of one or several phycoprostane(s), and its applications in particular as a food supplement in the prevention of the apparition of cognitive disorders.
SUBTERRANEAN MICROALGAE FOR PRODUCTION OF MICROBIAL BIOMASS, SUBSTANCES, AND COMPOSITIONS
The invention pertains to a method for synthesizing a product of interest by culturing a microalgal cell obtained from a subterranean habitat for producing the product of interest. The microalgal cell obtained from a subterranean habitat can be cultured in the dark, in light, in low nutrition, or nutrient rich conditions for at least a portion of production cycle. A combination of these conditions can be used to specifically manipulate a microalgal cell culture to produce a product of interest. The product of interest can be a water-soluble carotenoid, for example, a water-soluble carotenoid produced by culturing an algae belonging to the genus Haematococcus or a capsular exopolysaccharide produced by culturing an algae belonging to the genus Parachlorella. Compositions containing the water-soluble carotenoid, for example, as sunscreen and compositions containing the exopolysaccharide, for example, as moisturizing cream are also described.
