Fuel characteristics
A method of identifying a fuel contained in a fuel tank of an aircraft and arranged to power a gas turbine engine of the aircraft is performed by processing circuitry of the aircraft and includes: obtaining at least one fuel characteristic of any fuel already present in the fuel tank prior to refuelling; determining at least one fuel characteristic of a fuel added to the fuel tank on refuelling; and calculating at least one fuel characteristic of the resultant fuel in the fuel tank after refuelling. The method may further controlling the propulsion system of the aircraft based on the calculated at least one fuel characteristic of the resultant fuel in the fuel tank after refuelling.

An operation control device for a single shaft gas turbine selects an operation mode based on a load state of a power generator, and controls the turbine based on the operation mode. In a first operation mode, a rotational speed of the turbine is maintained within a first rotational speed range, and in a second operation mode, the rotational speed is maintained within a second rotational speed range set on a lower rotational speed side than the first rotational speed range. The second rotational speed range is set on the lower rotational speed side than the first rotational speed range with a first non-selection rotational speed range set therebetween.
Operation control device and operation control method for single shaft gas turbine and program therefor
An operation control device for a single shaft gas turbine selects an operation mode based on a load state of a power generator, and controls the turbine based on the operation mode. In a first operation mode, a rotational speed of the turbine is maintained within a first rotational speed range, and in a second operation mode, the rotational speed is maintained within a second rotational speed range set on a lower rotational speed side than the first rotational speed range. Methods and systems for detecting a shaft event of a gas turbine engine are described. The method comprises monitoring at least one engine parameter and comparing the at least one engine parameter to a schedule for the at least one parameter defining a first threshold and a second threshold greater than the first threshold; applying a limit to the at least one engine parameter when the at least one engine parameter is inside a parameter limiting region between the first threshold and the second threshold, the first threshold separating the parameter limiting region from a normal operating region, the second threshold separating the parameter limiting region from a hazardous operating region; and detecting the shaft event when the at least one engine parameter crosses the second threshold and issuing a signal in response to the detecting.

A fuel control device includes a combustion temperature estimation value calculation unit that calculates a temperature estimation value when a mixture of fuel and inflow air is burned using an atmospheric condition, an opening degree command value of a valve that controls the amount of air that is mixed with the fuel and burned, and an output prediction value calculated on the basis of a fuel control signal command value used for calculation of a total fuel flow rate flowing through a plurality of fuel supply systems, a fuel distribution command value calculation unit that calculates a fuel distribution command value indicating a distribution of fuel output from the fuel supply systems based on the temperature estimation value, and outputs the fuel distribution command value, and a valve opening degree calculation unit that calculates each valve opening degree of a fuel flow rate control valve of the fuel supply systems.

SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING A TURBINE
A system for controlling a turbine is disclosed. The system includes a turbine control fuel governor that has a plurality of VCPIDs operating in parallel with one another. Each VCPID is associated with a respective turbine parameter and one or more external parameters. Each VCPID incorporates feedback from the parallel operating VCPIDs to feed an integral term of a current VCPID in the following manner: a previous derivative gain and a previous proportional gain are summed and subtracted from a selected output for the turbine to yield a result, and the result is input to an integral gain portion of the current VCPID.
Gas turbine engine configuration data synchronization with a ground-based system
A system includes an engine manufacturer database communicatively coupled to a blockchain database through a network and a ground station configured to wirelessly communicate with a communication adapter of a gas turbine engine of an aircraft. The communication adapter includes a communication interface configured to communicate with an engine control of a gas turbine engine. The system is further configured to monitor the blockchain database for a configuration update associated with the aircraft and update the engine manufacturer database based on the configuration update. The system is further configured to command a synchronization of the configuration update from the engine manufacturer database to a communication adapter of the gas turbine engine tracked by the engine manufacturer database and transmit the configuration update wirelessly to the communication adapter through the communication interface to update a data storage unit of the gas turbine engine with the configuration update.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING AN ENGINE TEMPERATURE
Methods and systems for determining an engine temperature for a gas turbine engine are provided. An estimated combustor temperature is determined based on at least one operating condition of the gas turbine engine and an estimated vane mass flow. A corrected vane mass flow is determined based on the estimated combustor temperature, the estimated vane mass flow, and a combustor pressure. The corrected vane mass flow is compared to a reference vane mass flow to obtain the mass flow correction factor. When a condition associated with the mass flow correction factor is not satisfied, the estimated combustor temperature is adjusted based on the mass flow correction factor to produce an adjusted combustor temperature; and the mass flow correction factor is updated based on the adjusted combustor temperature. When the condition associated with the mass flow correction factor is satisfied, the estimated combustor temperature is assigned as the engine temperature.
