Methods and systems for supplying fuel to gas turbine engines
Methods and systems for supply of fuel for a turbine-driven fracturing pump system used in hydraulic fracturing may be configured to identify when the supply pressure of primary fuel to a plurality of gas turbine engines of a plurality of hydraulic fracturing units falls below a set point, identify a gas turbine engine of the fleet of hydraulic fracturing units operating on primary fuel with highest amount of secondary fuel available, and to selectively transfer the gas turbine engine operating on primary fuel with the highest amount of secondary fuel from primary fuel operation to secondary fuel operation. Some methods and systems may be configured to transfer all gas turbine engines to secondary fuel operation and individually and/or sequentially restore operation to primary fuel operation and/or to manage primary fuel operation and/or secondary fuel operation for portions of the plurality of gas turbine engines.
Synchronization of aircraft engines
Methods and related apparatus for improving synchronization of two or more engines on an aircraft are disclosed. Such method may be used where each engine comprises a first spool and a second spool, and, where a rotational speed of a first spool of a first engine has been substantially synchronized with a rotational speed of a first spool of a second engine. An exemplary method comprises receiving a value of a sensed parameter useful in controlling the first engine; adding a bias to the value; and using the biased value for controlling the first engine to cause a change in rotational speed of the second spool of the first engine in relation to the rotational speed of the first spool of the first engine.

Methods and related apparatus for improving synchronization of two or more engines on an aircraft are disclosed. Such method may be used where each engine comprises a first spool and a second spool, and, where a rotational speed of a first spool of a first engine has been substantially synchronized with a rotational speed of a first spool of a second engine. An exemplary method comprises receiving a value of a sensed parameter useful in controlling the first engine; adding a bias to the value; and using the biased value for controlling the first engine to cause a change in rotational speed of the second spool of the first engine in relation to the rotational speed of the first spool of the first engine.
Power management methods for multi engine rotorcraft
A power management system for a multi engine rotorcraft having a main rotor system with a main rotor speed. The power management system includes a first engine that provides a first power input to the main rotor system. A second engine selectively provides a second power input to the main rotor system. The second engine has at least a zero power input state and a positive power input state. A power anticipation system is configured to provide the first engine with a power adjustment signal in anticipation of a power input state change of the second engine during flight. The power adjustment signal causes the first engine to adjust the first power input to maintain the main rotor speed within a predetermined rotor speed threshold range during the power input state change of the second engine.
Power management methods for multi engine rotorcraft
A power management system for a multi engine rotorcraft having a main rotor system with a main rotor speed. The power management system includes a first engine that provides a first power input to the main rotor system. A second engine selectively provides a second power input to the main rotor system. The second engine has at least a zero power input state and a positive power input state. A power anticipation system is configured to provide the first engine with a power adjustment signal in anticipation of a power input state change of the second engine during flight. The power adjustment signal causes the first engine to adjust the first power input to maintain the main rotor speed within a predetermined rotor speed threshold range during the power input state change of the second engine.
System and method for operating multi-engine rotorcraft
Methods and systems for operating a rotorcraft comprising a plurality of engines are provided. A request to enter into an asymmetric operating regime (AOR), in which at least one active engine of the plurality of engines is operated in an active mode to provide motive power to the rotorcraft and at least one standby engine of the plurality of engines is operated in a standby mode to provide substantially no motive power, is obtained. Engine usage data for the plurality of engines, including at least one first engine and at least one second engine, is determined. Based on the engine usage data, one of the at least one first and second engines is operated as the at least one active engine for the AOR, and the other one of the at least one first and second engines is operated as the at least one standby engine for the AOR.
Hybrid electric powerplant (HEP) control architecture
A system includes a thermal engine operatively connected to drive a propeller. An electric motor is operatively connected to the thermal engine to drive the propeller together with the thermal engine. An external input system is configured to accept input and output a thrust command. A protection function module is configured to enforce limits on the thermal engine, electric motor, and propeller. A low select module is operatively connected to receive input from the external input system and form the protection function module and to output the lower of input from the protection function module and external input system to the thermal engine, the electric motor, and the propeller.
Hybrid electric powerplant (HEP) control architecture
A system includes a thermal engine operatively connected to drive a propeller. An electric motor is operatively connected to the thermal engine to drive the propeller together with the thermal engine. An external input system is configured to accept input and output a thrust command. A protection function module is configured to enforce limits on the thermal engine, electric motor, and propeller. A low select module is operatively connected to receive input from the external input system and form the protection function module and to output the lower of input from the protection function module and external input system to the thermal engine, the electric motor, and the propeller.
OPERATING AUXILIARY POWER UNIT DURING OFF-NOMINAL PROPULSION SYSTEM OPERATION
An aircraft system includes a component configured to operate with a minimum power demand. The aircraft system also includes an auxiliary power unit including an engine. The auxiliary power unit is configured to power the component and to operate the engine in a plurality of operating modes including a power mode and a standby mode. The auxiliary power unit generates a first power output at least equal to the minimum power demand during the power mode. The auxiliary power unit generates a second power output less than the minimum power demand during the standby mode.
AIRCRAFT PROPULSION SYSTEM
An aircraft propulsion system comprises first and second thrust producing gas turbine engines. The system comprises a controller configured to determine a required overall propulsion system thrust level, and determine an engine core power level contribution from each aircraft gas turbine engine such that the overall propulsion system produces a minimum overall noise level and meets the required overall propulsion system thrust level. In meeting the minimum overall noise level, at least the first and second gas turbine engines are operated at different engine core power settings.
