Method for control and/or regulation of a hybrid powertrain of a motor vehicle with an exhaust gas recirculation system

A method for control and/or regulation of a hybrid powertrain of a motor vehicle, wherein exhaust gas is taken from an exhaust system and delivered to a fresh air supply of an internal combustion engine, wherein the residual recirculated exhaust gas is purged from the fresh air supply in the event of a negative load jump. After the negative load jump, the internal combustion engine continues to run with a smaller load and simultaneously the torque supplied by the internal combustion engine is recuperated by means of the electric machine, wherein no positive torque in total is applied to the output of the powertrain.

Online monitoring and diagnostics in vehicle powertrains

Methods and systems for calculating a plurality of aging factors in a system operating an engine. The calculated aging factors may include one or more of fuel injector drift, exhaust gas recirculation valve obstruction, and mass air flow sensor bias. Mass flow throughout the system, and pressures and temperatures within the system, are observed in an approach that relies on mass preservation concepts to estimate drift, obstruction and bias estimates.

Systems and methods for optimizing engine-aftertreatment system operation

Systems and methods for optimizing a performance variable for an engine system. The method includes applying constraints of manipulated variables as well as performance variables, mechanical constraints and other engine responses to response models. The response models each represent a piecewise linear relationship between the manipulated variables and other engine responses including performance variables and constraints. The method also comprises determining an optimal target for each of the manipulated variables by using a quasi-simplex optimization process on the response models. The optimal targets of the manipulated variables correspond to an optimal value of the performance variable.

The present invention is provided to suppress the power consumption, the calorific value, and the volume of an ignition device in an internal combustion engine while suppressing failures in igniting fuel by an ignition plug. To achieve this, a control device 1 for the internal combustion engine includes an ignition control unit that controls energization of an ignition coil 300 that gives electric energy to an ignition plug 200 that discharges in a cylinder 150 of an internal combustion engine 100 to ignite fuel. The ignition control unit controls energization of the ignition coil 300 so that first electric energy is released from the ignition coil 300 while second electric energy is released as electric energy superposed on the first electric energy, the second electric energy changing based on a gas state around the ignition plug 200.

CONTROLLER AND CONTROL METHOD FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

To provide a controller and a control method for internal combustion engine which can reduce arithmetic load, while suppressing deterioration in the estimation accuracy of the parameter relevant to the combustion state, even if the error component of high frequency is included in the crank angle acceleration. A controller for internal combustion engine, by referring an unburning condition data, calculates a shaft torque in unburning in the vicinity of the top dead center in the burning condition; calculates an external load torque based on calculated shaft torque in unburning and the actual shaft torque in burning in the vicinity of the top dead center; calculates a shaft torque in unburning by referring the unburning condition data; calculates an increment of gas pressure torque by burning based on the shaft torque in unburning, the actual shaft torque in burning, and the external load torque.

Engine and emissions control system

A system for coordinated control of an engine and associated components over various engine-modes of operation. The system may include an engine, one or more components controllable to adjust operation of the diesel engine, and a system controller. The system controller may be connected to the engine and the one or more components. The system controller may include a supervisory controller and one or more component controllers. The supervisory controller may receive system control variable set points and coordinate component control variable set points for the components to achieve the system control variable set points. The component controllers may control operation of the components to achieve the control variable set points for the components by setting manipulated variable set points for the components based on the component control variable set points and a model based non-linear dynamic inversion.

VEHICLE AND CONTROL METHOD FOR GENERATING COMPRESSED AIR BY MOTOR

A vehicle and a control method are capable of generating compressed air using a motor of a hybrid vehicle so as to perform cleaning/care of the hybrid vehicle, without an additional or separate device. The vehicle includes an engine including an intake pipe provided to suck outside air and an exhaust pipe provided to discharge inside air, an opening degree control valve provided at a rear end of the exhaust pipe, and a motor configured to generate power for driving a wheel and configured to drive a piston of the engine by using a portion of the power. In response to the opening degree control valve being in a closed state, and in response to the engine being in a non-combustion state, compressed air is generated in the exhaust pipe by driving the piston of the engine with the power of the motor.

Engine controller

An engine controller controlling an engine including an occlusion reduction catalyst in an exhaust device includes a fuel injection controller that controls a fuel injection amount of an injector, an EGR controller that controls an EGR device, a sulfur purge determiner that determines whether sulfur purging of the catalyst is to be performed, and a sulfur purge controller that executes sulfur purge control if the sulfur purging is performed. The sulfur purge control involves performing a fuel injection to achieve a rich air-fuel ratio at an inlet of the catalyst and prohibiting the exhaust-gas introduction. The sulfur purge controller executes sulfur-purge standby control when a sulfur-purge standby condition is satisfied, and resumes the sulfur purge control when the condition becomes non-satisfied after starting the sulfur-purge standby control. The sulfur-purge standby control involves performing the fuel injection to nearly achieve a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio and prohibiting the exhaust-gas introduction.

Systems and methods for exhaust gas recirculation

A system and method of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) in an internal combustion engine are provided. The EGR system includes a first EGR flow path and a second EGR flow path independent of the first EGR flow path that are each configured to recirculate high pressure exhaust from the exhaust system back to the engine intake system. The system includes a controller in operable communication with the EGR system configured to selectively control an amount of EGR flow through at least one of the first and second EGR flow paths.
