A method for controlling starting of a vehicle upon a failure of a camshaft position sensor includes performing a fuel injection and ignition at a particular timing for starting an engine of the vehicle; measuring a battery voltage of the vehicle after the performing of the fuel injection and ignition for starting the engine; and when the battery voltage rises over a predetermined value, determining that the fuel injection and the ignition are performed at a normal timing.

SYSTEM FOR REMOTELY MONITORING EMISSIONS PERFORMANCE OF A VEHICLE

A system for monitoring the emissions performance of a vehicle by scanning an OBD system of the vehicle and transmitting the information to a hub. A determination is made whether the engine of the vehicle is in a non-compliant state. The non-compliant state including a failure of an oxygen sensor that causes a hub to control a refueling dispenser that presents a message confirming that the vehicle is in the non-compliant state on a display at the refueling dispenser and automatically levies a fine against the owner of the vehicle for being in the non-complaint state when the user or owner pays to refuel their vehicle. The fine is remitted to the regulating authorities.

Method and apparatus for acquiring altitude correction coefficient

Disclosed are a method and apparatus for acquiring an altitude correction coefficient, comprising: acquiring an initial value of an altitude correction coefficient self-learning filter when a preset event occurs to a vehicle engine; evaluating whether the vehicle satisfies a preset self-learning enabling condition, in accordance with an engine rotation speed, a vehicle speed, and status information of designated devices; enabling the altitude correction coefficient self-learning filter when the vehicle satisfies the preset self-learning enabling condition; determining an input of the altitude correction coefficient self-learning filter at least in accordance with operating states of a manifold pressure sensor and a stepping motor; and obtaining a current altitude correction coefficient by self-learning the altitude correction coefficient applying the altitude correction coefficient self-learning filter in accordance with the initial value of the altitude correction coefficient self-learning filter and the input of the altitude correction coefficient self-learning filter.

Particulate matter detection apparatus

A particulate matter detection apparatus includes a particulate matter quantity detection means, a temperature detection means that detects the temperature of exhaust gas, a control unit and a heating means. The particulate matter quantity detection means includes a particulate matter deposition portion that deposits thereon part of particulate matter contained in the exhaust gas emitted from an internal combustion engine and a pair of opposite electrodes arranged apart from each other on the particulate matter deposition portion. The control unit determines a deposition quantity of the particulate matter on the particulate matter deposition portion based on an electrical signal outputted by the particulate matter quantity detection means and receives information on the temperature of the exhaust gas detected by the temperature detection means. The control unit controls the heating means to heat the particulate matter deposition portion to 300 C.-800 C. during a cold start of the internal combustion engine.

Methods and systems are provided for determining barometric pressure. In one example, an onboard vacuum pump is utilized to draw a vacuum at a constant flow rate across a reference orifice, and the resulting vacuum level is converted to a barometric pressure. In this way, other sensors for determining barometric pressure in a vehicle may be rationalized without the use of engine operation, and in an example where the other sensors for determining barometric pressure are not functioning as desired, barometric pressure as inferred from the onboard pump may be utilized to adjust engine operation.

Diagnostic method for a compressor recirculation valve

Methods are provided for identifying degradation in components of a compressor recirculation valve (CRV). One method includes differentiating between degradation of a throttle of the CRV and a position sensor of the CRV based on each of a throttle inlet pressure and commanded position of the throttle of the CRV. The method also includes utilizing output from the position sensor of the CRV in response to the commanded position of the throttle of the CRV.
