STARTING CONTROL METHOD FOR A VEHICLE

A starting control method for a vehicle having an engine may include determining, by an ECU, whether engine RPM rises when the engine is started, determining whether combustion-related parts are normal, when the engine RPM does not rise over a starter RPM, determining whether a cam position sensor and a crank position sensor are normal, when it is determined that the combustion-related parts are normal, performing control to offset a recognized crank angle by 360 degrees, when it is determined that the cam position sensor and the crank position sensor are normal, and restarting the engine based on the offset crank angle.

A method for diagnosing and calibrating an exhaust gas sensor. An exhaust gas mass flow generated by an internal combustion engine is divided and a first part of the exhaust gas flow is conducted through a first exhaust gas path of a motor vehicle, and a second part of the exhaust path mass flow is conducted through a second exhaust gas path of the motor vehicle.

A computer for a vehicle, the vehicle including a heat engine, a depollution system configured to depollute the exhaust gases originating from the engine, a first probe placed between the outlet of the heat engine and the inlet of the depollution system and configured to measure a first parameter relating to the oxygen level in the exhaust gases exiting the heat engine, a second probe placed at the outlet of the depollution system and configured to measure a second parameter relating to the oxygen level in the exhaust gases exiting the depollution system. The computer being configured to receive the values measured by the first probe and by the second probe over a predefined measurement time interval and to diagnose clogging of the first probe.

CONTROL APPARATUS FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

By calculating a throttle opening learning value based on an actual effective opening area calculated based on the actual flow rate of intake air and an actual throttle opening with respect to variations caused by type differences of throttle valves and by calculating a throttle opening learning completion range indicating the region for which throttle opening learning completion has been determined based on the state of deviation between an effective opening area corrected by throttle opening learning and the actual effective opening area, control that applies the throttle opening learning value or fail-safe of an air flow sensor is performed in a contiguous throttle opening learning completion range.

DIFFERENTIAL CYLINDER BALANCING FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

A method of adjusting operation of an internal combustion engine includes injecting fuel into cylinders of the internal combustion engine (first fuel operation); obtaining a first fuel exhaust temperature profile during the first fuel operation; injecting two fuels into the cylinders in a duel fuel operation; obtaining a duel fuel exhaust temperature profile; and adjusting the injection quantity and/or an injection timing of one fuel in a cylinder(s), based on a difference between the first fuel exhaust temperature profile and the duel fuel exhaust temperature profile. Other methods of operating with single fuel and using sensors other than exhaust temperature sensors are disclosed.

Methods and systems for diagnosing an intake oxygen sensor based on pressure

Methods and systems are provided for diagnosing an intake oxygen sensor. In one example, a method may include indicating degradation of an intake oxygen sensor based on a first time constant of an output of the intake oxygen sensor and a second time constant of an output of a throttle inlet pressure sensor. The method may further include adjusting EGR flow based on the output of the intake oxygen sensor and the output of the throttle inlet pressure sensor when the intake oxygen sensor is not degraded.

Abnormality determination apparatus

An internal combustion engine to which the apparatus is applied is a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine that includes a passage injection valve and a cylinder injection valve and that can use gasoline and alcohol as fuel. The apparatus performs abnormality determination for a determination object device, based on a detection signal of an oxygen sensor provided in an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine. The concentration sensor detects alcohol concentration ALp of the fuel in a first fuel passage through which the fuel is fed to the passage injection valve, and alcohol concentration ALd of the fuel in a second fuel passage through which the fuel is fed to the cylinder injection valve. When a difference AL between the alcohol concentrations ALp, ALd is a determination value or greater (S13: YES), the execution of the abnormality determination is prohibited (S12).

Controller for internal combustion engine

An automatically stoppable internal combustion engine comprises an exhaust purification catalyst, an upstream side air-fuel ratio sensor, a downstream side air-fuel ratio sensor, and sensor heaters heating air-fuel ratio sensors. A controller comprises an air-fuel ratio control part and a heating control part. The heating control part controls the temperature of the upstream side air-fuel ratio sensor to the activation temperature or more and the temperature of the downstream side air-fuel ratio sensor to less than the activation temperature during automatic stop of the internal combustion engine. The air-fuel ratio control part controls the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas based on the outputs of the two air-fuel ratio sensors during engine operation and controls the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas temporarily based on the output of the upstream side air-fuel ratio sensor without using the output of the downstream side air-fuel ratio sensor.

PARTICULATE MEASUREMENT APPARATUS AND PARTICULATE MEASUREMENT SYSTEM

A particulate measurement apparatus comprises a control section, which provisionally determines in an anomaly determination process that a corona core wire is in a short anomaly state when a linear voltage is equal to or lower than a particular voltage value and increments a sensor anomaly counter CNS or a chassis anomaly counter. The control section determines that the corona core wire is in a short anomaly state when the count value of one of the anomaly counters is equal to or greater than a determination threshold.

PARTICULATE MEASUREMENT APPARATUS AND PARTICULTE MEASUREMENT SYSTEM

In a particulate measurement apparatus (300) of a particulate measurement system (10), a control section (600) provisionally determines in an anomaly determination process at S130 that a corona core wire (202) is in a wire-breakage anomaly state; namely, that the corona core wire (202) is broken, when a corona low-side current C1 is equal to or smaller than a current determination value C1min, and increments a wire-breakage anomaly counter CNB at S140. The control section (600) determines that the corona core wire (202) is in the wire-breakage anomaly state at S170 when the count value of the wire-breakage anomaly counter CNB is equal to or greater than a wire-breakage determination threshold Cth; namely, that the result of the determination at S160 is Yes.
