START-UP METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CAM ANGLE SENSOR ERROR OF MILD HYBRID SYSTEM
A start-up method of a mild hybrid system determines whether start-up is attempted through an MHSG in accordance with a request for start-up from a driver, compares an engine rpm at the end of cranking with a reference rpm in start-up using the MHSG, determines whether an engine rpm immediately after start-up follows an idle target rpm when the engine rpm at the end of cranking exceeds the reference rpm, checks whether there is an error in a cam angle sensor when poor following in which the engine rpm immediately after start-up does not follow the idle target rpm is generated, forcibly changes an engine state into cranking when the cam angle sensor has an error, and executes an existing backup crank logic that decreases a target rpm of the MHSG and finds out a fuel injection time while performing test injection using a signal from an crank angle sensor.
Method of Route Identification Conducive for Successful Diagnosis of an Exhaust Gas Treatment System
A method is for route identification that is conducive for successful diagnosis of an exhaust gas treatment system of a vehicle. In the method, an ECU in the vehicle receives a value of GPS coordinates from a GPS module, and the ECU retrieves a value of day, date, and time from an ECU clock. The ECU monitors a value of engine operating conditions with reference to the received value of GPS coordinates and the retrieved value of day, date, and time. The ECU identifies a segment of GPS coordinates for successful diagnosis of an exhaust gas treatment system based on the monitored value. Upon the identification, the segment of GPS coordinates is stored in ECU memory.
Exhaust gas purification system for engine
An exhaust gas purification system of engine configured to classify a PM accumulation state of DPF into multiple evaluation stages based on a plurality of evaluation indices, and to repeatedly perform determination of the current evaluation stage by the current stage determination part and determination of whether to move up the current evaluation stage to the evaluation stage of the next rank by the evaluation stage determination part, wherein upon a defect of a sensor among different types of sensors being detected by the defect detection part, the current evaluation stage is newly redetermined by the current stage redetermination part as substituted for the current evaluation stage determined by the current stage determination part.
Method and Apparatus for Detecting a Malfunctioning Rail Pressure Sensor
The present disclosure relates to internal combustion engines and the teachings thereof may be embodied in methods and apparatus for detecting a malfunctioning rail pressure sensor. Some embodiments may include a method for detecting a malfunctioning rail pressure sensor comprising: delivering an analog output signal characterizing the rail pressure to a control unit; generating a differential rail pressure signal as a digital output signal; delivering the differential rail pressure signal of the rail pressure sensor to the control unit; analyzing the analog output signal and the differential rail pressure signal in the control unit; and detecting a malfunctioning rail pressure sensor based on the analysis by the control unit.
Method and apparatus for diagnosing a fuel pressure sensor
A device executes a power limiting process when the number of pressure sensors determined to be normal in a second determination process made by a second processing unit is smaller than or equal to one. When only one pressure sensor is determined to be normal through the second determination process, and when that pressure sensor and a pressure sensor connected to only a first processing unit are determined to be normal in a first determination process made by the first processing unit, a process associated with fuel injection based on a detected value of the pressure sensor determined to be normal in the second determination process is executed, and a degree of limiting engine power through the power limiting process is reduced as compared with when both the pressure sensors are determined to be abnormal in the first determination process.
Methods and systems for adjusting heater power of an oxygen sensor to reduce degradation from water
Methods and systems are provided for adjusting heater power of an oxygen sensor. In one example, a method for an engine includes adjusting heater power of a heating element of the oxygen sensor when the heater power increases by a threshold amount. The method includes subsequently increasing heater power back to a baseline power level responsive to a temperature of the heating element.
Method and device for monitoring a humidity sensor in a combustion engine, using oxygen measurement of other sensors in the engine, such as NOx, lambda and/or oxygen sensors
The present invention provides for a method and device for monitoring an ambient humidity sensor in a combustion engine, where the monitoring of the ambient humidity sensor is made by comparing the ambient humidity measured by said humidity sensor and an ambient humidity determined from an oxygen measurement of at least another sensor in the engine system, such as a NOX, or Lambda and/or an oxygen sensor. Said comparison is made using an offset of the oxygen signal reading of said at least another sensor, in a fuel cut condition where the drift or offset of said another sensor is related to the variation of the ambient humidity.
Carbon monoxide detecting system for internal combustion engine-based machines
An internal combustion engine-based system includes an internal combustion engine. The internal combustion engine-based system includes an engine interrupt connected to the engine. The engine interrupt is configured to selectively stop the operation of the engine. The internal combustion engine-based system includes a controller in communication with the engine interrupt. The internal combustion engine-based system includes a carbon monoxide detector in communication with the controller. The controller uses the engine interrupt to stop the operation of the engine when the carbon monoxide detector provides the controller with signals that are representative of a carbon monoxide level proximate the internal combustion engine that together form a trend of building carbon monoxide amounts over a set time interval.
Method for determining an offset of a manifold pressure sensor
Methods and systems are provided for determining an offset of a manifold pressure sensor. In one example, an engine method may include indicating degradation of the manifold pressure sensor based on a sensor offset, the sensor offset based on a manifold pressure measured at a first throttle angle, a barometric pressure at a second throttle angle, a reference manifold pressure at the first throttle angle and reference barometric pressure, and the reference barometric pressure. Further, the method may include adjusting an output of the manifold pressure sensor by the determined sensor offset.
Method of diagnosing a temperature sensor provided at a rear stage of an air filter
A method of diagnosing a temperature sensor provided at a rear stage of an air filter includes: comparing a heating condition factor with a factor threshold; when the heating condition factor is less than the factor threshold, calculating a deviation between a temperature of an intake manifold and a temperature of intake air at a rear stage of an air filter; comparing a temperature threshold with the deviation; and, when the deviation exceeds the temperature threshold, diagnosing the intake air temperature sensor provided at the rear stage of the air filter as failing. According to the method, failure of a temperature sensor provided at a rear state of an air filter of an engine room can be diagnosed.
