Fuel control system
A fuel control system obtains a measured amount of fuel consumed by an engine and one or more corresponding operating parameters of the engine and determines a fuel consumption modeled amount based at least in part on a fuel consumption model of the engine and the one or more operating parameters. The fuel consumption model associates different amounts of fuel that, when supplied to the engine, generate corresponding designated outputs of the engine. The system also determines one or more differentials between the measured amount of fuel and the modeled amount and, responsive to the one or more of the differentials exceeding a threshold value, the system identifies one or more components of the powered system that contribute or cause the one or more differentials and/or changes an amount of fuel supplied to the engine according to the fuel consumption model to obtain a desired output of the engine.

A METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MONITORING AN ENGINE CYLINDER IN AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE, A METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING COMBUSTION IN SAID ENGINE CYLINDER AND AN IGNITION APPARATUS FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A method for monitoring an engine cylinder in an internal combustion engine includes, for each engine cycle, detection of the ionisation current generated in the cylinder in a predetermined time interval of a combustion cycle, generation of a signal representing the ionisation current and comparing a maximum value of the signal with a threshold value. Successively, the value of one or more parameters associated with the signal can be changed with respect to an equal number of corresponding reference values when the maximum value of the signal exceeds the threshold value, to reduce the maximum value of the signal in the time interval of a successive combustion cycle. The presence of water in the cylinder can be determined when the maximum value of the signal exceeds the threshold value for a predetermined first number of combustion cycles occurring within a predetermined period of time.
Method for requirement-based servicing of an injector
A method for requirement-based servicing of an injector in a common-rail system in which, during ongoing operation of the engine, a current operating point is stored as a function of the rail pressure and of the fuel injection mass, and the current operating point is multiplied by a damage factor and is stored as a reference injection cycle as a function of the rail pressure as well as of the fuel injection mass. A total reference injection cycle is calculated by forming sums over the reference injection cycles, and a load factor is calculated as a function of the total reference injection cycle and the permissible injection cycles, and the load factor is set as decisive for the servicing recommendation of the injector.
Method of controlling fuel injection amount of internal combustion engine
A method of controlling a fuel injection amount of an internal combustion engine includes a target injection amount calculation step, a component-by-component wear amount estimation step at which a component-by-component wear amount of an injector component is estimated, the injector component being a plurality of members or a part of the member constituting the injector and selected in advance as the injector component affects an accuracy of the fuel injection amount, a component-by-component correction amount calculation step, a total correction amount calculation step, and a total correction amount reflection step at which the injector injects a corrected target injection amount.
Internal combustion engine control device
An internal combustion engine control device that can ensure diagnosis of whether a fuel injection cut function normally works and that further permits startup of an internal combustion engine in a case in which the fuel injection cut function normally works is provided. To attain the internal combustion engine control system, the startup of the internal combustion engine is prohibited when carrying of a diagnostic monitoring current based on a diagnostic drive signal related to each of fuel injection valves to each of fuel injection valves in a case of transmitting a drive prohibition signal related to each of fuel injection valves to a fuel injection valve drive circuit before the startup of the internal combustion engine and transmitting the diagnostic drive signal related to each of fuel injection valves to the fuel injection valve drive circuit. By transmitting the diagnostic drive signal related to each of the fuel injection valves to the fuel injection valve drive circuit and monitoring whether the diagnostic monitoring current based on the diagnostic drive signal is carried to each of fuel injection valves, it is possible to ensure diagnosis of whether the fuel injection cut function normally works.
FUEL INJECTION CONTROL APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR IMPROVING DEVIATION OF INJECTOR OPENING TIME
A fuel injection control method of injecting fuel to a combustion chamber through an injector, the method may include performing, by a controller electrically-connected to the injector, a main injection configured of controlling the injector to inject the fuel in a target injection fuel amount; and performing, by the controller, a pre-injection configured of driving the injector to inject the fuel in advance, before the performing of the main injection with a predetermined idle time interposed therebetween, wherein the performing of the pre-injection is configured of magnetizing an injector coil of the injector by applying a current to the injector during a predetermined pre-injection time, in which a flow rate of the fuel is prevented from being generated by the pre-injection.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR ASSESSING ENGINE HEALTH
The present disclosure provides methods and systems for assessing a health state of an engine. During a fuel control failure event experienced by the engine, pressure data indicative of a pressure within a fuel combustor of the engine and acceleration data indicative of an acceleration of a shaft of the engine are obtained. The pressure data and acceleration data are compared to a predetermined limit associated with plastic deformation of the shaft of the engine. A maintenance issue for the engine is detected when the pressure data and the acceleration data are beyond the predetermined limit. An alert associated with a negative health state for the engine is issued responsive to detecting the maintenance issue.
DIAGNOSING APPARATUS AND DIAGNOSING METHOD FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
An electronic control unit is used for an internal combustion engine that executes a specific-cylinder fuel cutoff process in which combustion in part of cylinders is stopped and combustion is continued in the remaining cylinders. The electronic control unit diagnoses whether there is a misfire anomaly in the internal combustion engine based on a misfire frequency of the internal combustion engine. The electronic control unit executes a normality restoration diagnosing process of diagnosing, in a state in which it is diagnosed that there is a misfire anomaly, that the misfire anomaly has been resolved when a measured value of the misfire frequency becomes less than or equal to a specified normality restoration determination value. The normality restoration diagnosing process is configured to not diagnose, during the execution of the specific-cylinder fuel cutoff process, that the misfire anomaly has been eliminated.
