METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR MONITORING FUEL QUALITY AND SERVICE ISSUES FOR A POWER SYSTEM USED IN TRANSPORT
A method for monitoring fuel quality of a power system used in transport is provided. The method includes a controller of the power system determining that the prime mover is actively running. The method also includes the controller monitoring an output of a water-in-fuel (WIF) sensor configured to measure an amount of water accumulated in a water collection reservoir of a fuel/water separator that separates water from fuel passing there through. Also, the method includes the controller determining an amount of fuel passing through the fuel/water separator. Further, the method includes the controller calculating a fuel quality score of the fuel based on the output of the WIF sensor and the amount of fuel having passed through the fuel/water separator. The method further includes the controller triggering different alerts based on the calculated fuel quality score.
METHOD FOR DETERMINING A CHARACTERISTIC VARIABLE OF A SOLENOID VALVE AND METHOD FOR TRAINING A PATTERN RECOGNITION METHOD BASED ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
A method for determining a characteristic variable for opening and/or closing a flow-through opening of a solenoid valve, in which solenoid valve a solenoid coil is energized to raise an armature to open the flow-through opening for a fluid. During operation of the solenoid valve, a profile of a current in the solenoid coil being determined, and using a pattern recognition method based on artificial intelligence, the characteristic variable(s) is/are determined based on at least one section of the profile or a profile derived therefrom using a neural network. A method for applying and for training a pattern recognition method based on artificial intelligence are also described.
Injection control device
An injection control device includes: an instruction output unit outputting an instruction energization time that is an instruction value of an energization time of a fuel injection valve corresponding to a target injection amount; an energization controller controlling energization of the fuel injection valve based on the instruction energization time; an area corrector correcting an area of an electric current flowing through the fuel injection valve when the fuel injection valve is driven by the electric current, calculating a correction time of the energization time, and correcting the instruction energization time; an abnormality determiner determining that an abnormality related to the area correction has occurred when the correction time reaches a predetermined upper limit value; and a normal-return determiner executing, after the abnormality determiner determines that the abnormality related to the area correction has occurred, a normal-return determination at an execution timing of when a degree of influence of the abnormality on an emission becomes equal to or less than a predetermined value, for determining whether or not an abnormal state in which the abnormality related to the area correction has been caused has returned to a normal state.
Injector control unit
Provided is an injector control unit capable of preventing unintended fuel injection other than an engine drive period. The injector control unit includes a cutoff mechanism for cutting off current supply to the injector from at least the ignition OFF to the next ignition ON.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR WATER IN FUEL PROGNOSTIC MONITOR
A method for determining the presence of water and diesel exhaust fluid mixed with diesel fuel is disclosed. In one example, output pressure of a fuel pump may be indicative of the presence or absence of water in diesel fuel. The presence or absence of water in fuel may be evaluated in response to filling a fuel tank.
Method to estimate the temperature of an electromagnetic actuator
A method to estimate the temperature of an electromagnetic actuator, which entails a preliminary step in which to define a first threshold value for the current or for the voltage; and define a characteristic curve of the actuator family in the plane temperature/time needed to reach the threshold value; a step in which to carry out a reference measurement, in which, using the characteristic curve, a reference time needed by the electromagnetic actuator to reach the first threshold value is associated with a known reference temperature; and a step in which to carry out a series of measurements in which to determine the time needed by the electromagnetic actuator to reach the first threshold value, calculate the deviation between the time needed by the electromagnetic actuator to reach the first threshold value and the reference time; and determine the temperature of the electromagnetic actuator, using the characteristic curve, by associating the temperature of the electromagnetic actuator with the sum of the deviation and of the reference time.
Method for monitoring a fuel supply system of an internal combustion engine and internal combustion engine for carrying out such a method
A method for monitoring a fuel supply system in an internal combustion engine includes the steps of: recording a first pressure value in the fuel supply system in a region of the fuel supply system associated with a pre-filter and upstream of a low pressure pump; recording a second pressure value in the fuel supply system downstream of the low pressure pump in a region of the fuel supply system associated with a primary filter; monitoring the first pressure value and the second pressure value for an error state of the fuel supply system; and recognizing the error state only if the error state is plausible on a basis of both the first pressure value and the second pressure value.
Control device for fuel injection valve and fuel injection system
A control device controls a drive current that flows through a drive coil of a fuel injection valve that is electromagnetically driven. A control device includes a determination unit configured to determine whether a supply fuel pressure, which is a pressure of fuel supplied to the fuel injection valve, is higher than a determination pressure at which the fuel pressure is determined abnormally high; a first control unit configured to control the drive current in a first mode when the determination unit determines that the supply fuel pressure is not higher than the determination pressure; and a second control unit configured to control the drive current in a second mode that facilitates maintaining of the fuel injection valve in an open state more than in the first mode when the determination unit determines that the supply fuel pressure is higher than the determination pressure.
Methods and systems for supplying fuel to gas turbine engines
Methods and systems for supply of fuel for a turbine-driven fracturing pump system used in hydraulic fracturing may be configured to identify when the supply pressure of primary fuel to a plurality of gas turbine engines of a plurality of hydraulic fracturing units falls below a set point, identify a gas turbine engine of the fleet of hydraulic fracturing units operating on primary fuel with highest amount of secondary fuel available, and to selectively transfer the gas turbine engine operating on primary fuel with the highest amount of secondary fuel from primary fuel operation to secondary fuel operation. Some methods and systems may be configured to transfer all gas turbine engines to secondary fuel operation and individually and/or sequentially restore operation to primary fuel operation and/or to manage primary fuel operation and/or secondary fuel operation for portions of the plurality of gas turbine engines.
