Control system for variable displacement engine
A vehicle includes a variable displacement engine and a controller. The variable displacement engine has a plurality of cylinders and is configured to operate at a commanded air-fuel ratio. The controller is programmed to, in response to a command to perform a diagnostic test, operate the engine such that each of the cylinders is shut down for a portion of the diagnostic test while one or more of the remainder of the cylinders remain operating. The controller is further programmed to, in response to a deviation from the commanded air-fuel ratio exceeding a threshold while a first of the cylinders is shut down during the diagnostic test and a subsequent command to decrease the number of operating cylinders, shut down one or more of the plurality of cylinders other than the first of the cylinders.

Methods and systems are provided for monitoring a fuel injector of an internal combustion engine. In one embodiment, a method includes: receiving a set of feature data, the feature data sensed from a fuel injector during a fuel injection event; processing, by a processor, the set of feature data with a decision tree model to generate a prediction of a fault status; and selectively generating, by the processor, a notification signal based on the prediction.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR WIRELESS CONTROL OF AN ENGINE-DRIVEN WELDING POWER SUPPLY
Systems and methods for wireless control of welding power supplies are disclosed. An example welding power supply includes: a housing comprising a control panel configured to receive inputs from an operator; power conversion circuitry configured to convert input power into output power for a welding operation; and local control circuitry configured to wirelessly receive a control signal from remote control circuitry of a portable electronic device, and to control the welding power supply based on the received control signal; wherein the local control circuitry is configured to set prioritization of control of the welding power supply between the portable electronic device and the control panel of the welding power supply, prevent the control panel from controlling a parameter of the welding power supply when the portable electronic device is prioritized, and prevent the portable electronic device from controlling the parameter when the control panel is prioritized.
Method for operating an internal combustion engine, device for the open-loop and closed-loop control of an internal combustion engine, injection system, and internal combustion engine
A method for operating an internal combustion engine with a motor having a number of cylinders and an injection system having a common rail with a number of injectors assigned to the cylinders and similar high pressure components, which is designed to hold fuel from the common rail for the injector, wherein the method has the steps: injecting fuel from the common rail into a cylinder by way of an injector, determining a fuel pressure for a high-pressure component, in particular the common rail, the injector and/or the individual reservoir, having at least one high-pressure sensor measuring the fuel pressure. Provision is made for a defect in the high-pressure sensor to be detected in that a check is made as to whether magnitude of the high-pressure control deviation (ep) during a predetermined time interval (t.sub.Limit1.sup.SD, t.sub.Limit2.sup.SD, t.sub.Limit3.sup.SD) exceeds a predetermined limiting value (e.sub.Limit1.sup.SD, e.sub.Limit2.sup.SD, e.sub.Limit3.sup.SD).
VEHICLE MAINTENANCE MINDER COUNTER SETTING
A method, system, and apparatus for updating a maintenance minder for a motor vehicle is disclosed. The motor vehicle includes an engine and an electronic ignition system. The maintenance minder counter is in electronic communication with the ECU, and a meter identifies to a user when the vehicle has reached a predetermined number of hours of operation of the engine. The ON/OFF status of an ignition switch that is part of the electronic ignition system is detected, the engine rotations per minute (RPM) are measured with a sensor, and the ON/OFF status and engine RPM are reported to the ECU. The maintenance minder counter is activated if the ON/OFF status is ON and the engine RPM exceeds a predetermined threshold.
Liquid Filter Fuel Consumption Estimation
A system and method for monitoring the negative impact of a filtration system on the fuel economy of an internal combustion engine. A filter monitoring controller receives engine operating parameters of the internal combustion engine. The filter monitoring controller determines an amount of power generated by the internal combustion engine based at least in part on the engine operating parameters. The filter monitoring controller determines a filter hydraulic power consumption of a filtration system providing a fluid to the internal combustion engine. The filter monitoring controller determines a fuel economy impact of the filtration system on the internal combustion engine based at least in part on the filter hydraulic power consumption of the filtration system. The filter monitoring controller compares the fuel economy impact of the filtration system to a threshold fuel economy impact to determine whether a filter element of the filtration system requires servicing.
SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND APPARATUS FOR OPERATION OF DUAL FUEL ENGINES
Systems, methods and apparatus for controlling operation of dual fuel engines are disclosed that regulate the fueling amounts provided by a first fuel and a second fuel during operation of the engine. The first fuel can be a liquid fuel and the second fuel can be a gaseous fuel. The fueling amounts are controlled to improve operational outcomes of the duel fuel engine.
SYSTEMS FOR A MULTI-FUEL CAPABLE ENGINE
Various methods and systems are provided for a multi-fuel capable engine. The system includes a liquid fuel system to deliver liquid fuel to an engine, a gaseous fuel system to deliver gaseous fuel to the engine, and a control system. The control system, during a gaseous fuel system test mode, controls the liquid fuel system and the gaseous fuel system to deliver the liquid fuel and the gaseous fuel to the engine over a range of engine operating points, and indicate degradation of the gaseous fuel system based on engine output at each of the engine operating points.
Systems and methods for inhibiting implement-induced engine stall, and turf maintenance vehicles incorporating same
Systems and methods for inhibiting implement-induced stall of a prime mover associated with a turf vehicle. In some embodiments, the vehicle includes an electronic controller (EC) adapted to monitor a speed of the prime mover and detect when the speed falls below a speed threshold. The EC is adapted to automatically disengage a power take-off (PTO) connecting the prime mover to the implement when the speed of the prime mover falls below this speed threshold.
Method and system for diagnosing fault of dual purge system
A method for diagnosing a fault situation of a negative-pressure generation line using a fuel tank pressure sensor that detects the pressure of a fuel tank is provided. The method detects pressure in a fuel tank measured by a fuel tank pressure sensor when a turbocharger is operated for boosting and a purge valve is operated and diagnoses a current situation as a fault situation in which an engine negative-pressure generation line remains open when a pressure change value calculated based on the pressure difference of the fuel tank exceeds a reference value. A warning of a fault situation is then output when a fault is determined.
