In one example, a method includes: obtaining at least one input, wherein the at least one input includes a setpoint, a mass flow rate, an inlet temperature, or a combination thereof; calculating a temperature associated with the heater based on a predefined model and the at least one input; and setting a value of the at least one temperature along the fluid flow path to the temperature of the heater.
Method for diagnosing SCR catalyst and feed gas quality in a diesel after-treatment system
An exhaust diagnostic system. The system includes a diesel engine having an exhaust system with a diesel particulate filter (DPF), a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst, a first NOx sensor located upstream of the SCR catalyst and a second NOx sensor located downstream of the SCR catalyst. In addition, an engine control unit (ECU) is in electronic communication with the first NOx sensor and the second NOx sensor. An SCR coordinator can be included and be configured to execute a non-intrusive SCR deNOx efficiency test, an intrusive SCR/DOC deNOx efficiency test and an intrusive DOC non-methane hydrocarbon (NMHC) conversion efficiency test on the exhaust system. As a result of the conversion efficiency tests, a distinction can be made as to whether the SCR catalyst or DOC is failing.

Method and device for operating a fuel injection device, especially of a motor vehicle
In a method for operating a fuel injection device of a motor vehicle, fuel is conveyed under high pressure into a high-pressure reservoir, the pressure of which is controlled with the aid of a pressure regulation and from which fuel is taken for injection via at least one fuel injection valve under the control of a control device. A control pressure deviation of the pressure in the high-pressure reservoir is detected and the existence of a balance disturbance between quantity of fuel supplied to the high-pressure reservoir and quantity of fuel taken from the high-pressure reservoir is deduced from the control pressure deviation. If a balance disturbance exists, operational influencing of the fuel injection device counteracting the balance disturbance is produced and/or a corresponding report is generated.
CONTROL APPARATUS FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A control apparatus for an internal combustion engine is configured to: calculate measured data of MFB based on in-cylinder pressure detected by an in-cylinder pressure sensor; execute engine control based on a measured value of a specified fraction combustion point that is calculated based on the measured data of MFB; and calculate a first correlation index value for the measured data (current data) and the reference data of MFB and a second correlation index value for the current data and the immediately preceding past data. The engine control is suspended that uses the measured data of the specified fraction combustion point based on the current data when both of the first correlation index value and the second correlation index value are less than a determination value.
MANAGING FUEL OIL MIXTURE IN ENGINES
A fuel tank containing a fuel and oil mixture is managed to determine if the fuel and oil mixture contains the correct ratio for a motor. The fuel tank containing a fuel and oil mixture is monitored. A fuel to oil ratio is selected for the motor. A combined viscosity of the fuel and oil mixture is calculated with respect to the fuel to oil ratio, and the temperature of the fuel and oil mixture. The combined viscosity is used to determine a predetermined range of the combined viscosity. The viscosity of the fuel and oil mixture within the fuel tank is measured as a measured viscosity. If the measured viscosity of the fuel and oil mixture does not correspond with the predetermined range, then a user may be alerted that the measured viscosity does not correspond with the predetermined range.

OVER-FUELING CONTROL BASED ON OXYGEN SENSOR FEEDBACK
A method of controlling a concentration of hydrocarbons in exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine includes sensing an oxygen percentage of the flow of exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine and determining a concentration of hydrocarbons in the flow of exhaust gas. An engine control module may then adjust the sensed oxygen percentage of the exhaust gas based on the determined concentration of hydrocarbons in the flow of exhaust gas to define a corrected oxygen percentage. The control module may then control at least one of a hydrocarbon injection rate for in-cylinder combustion of the internal combustion engine, and a hydrocarbon injection rate for a post combustion exhaust gas treatment process, based on the corrected oxygen percentage, to control the concentration of hydrocarbons in the exhaust gas.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PREDICTIVE EMISSION MAINTENANCE OF AN ENGINE
Methods and systems for predictive emission maintenance of an engine. In one embodiment, a method for predictive emission maintenance of an engine is provided. The method can include a controller obtaining operational status information of the engine upon startup of a transport refrigeration unit (TRU) or a TRU generator set (GenSet). The method also includes the controller predicting engine emission maintenance based on the operational status information. Also, the method includes the controller providing an advanced notification warning based on whether the controller predicts engine emission maintenance.
Method for diagnosing failure of fuel pressure sensor for high-pressure pump of GDI engine
A method for diagnosing a failure of a fuel pressure sensor for a high-pressure pump of a GDI engine includes a data collection step of collecting information on a state of a vehicle. A sensor condition determination step determines whether data collected in the data collection step meets conditions for determining the failure of the fuel pressure sensor. A failure determination step determines whether the fuel pressure value of the pressure sensor for the high-pressure pump is greater than or equal to a first reference value, and simultaneously, whether a fuel amount learning value is greater than or equal to a second reference value.
