METHOD FOR CHECKING THE ASSOCIATION OF STRUCTURE-BORNE NOISE SENSORS WITH CYLINDERS OF AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

A method for checking the association of structure-borne noise sensors of an internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinders, which internal combustion engine can be operated in diesel operation or with individualized gas injection and in the case of which internal combustion engine a structure-borne noise sensor is arranged in the region of each cylinder, wherein the output signals of the structure-borne noise sensors reflect a knock index and are captured by a computing unit, wherein the internal combustion engine is operated in order to perform the method. The output signals of all structure-borne noise sensors are determined during at least one working cycle, which is formed by two revolutions of a crankshaft, in the respective positions of the crankshaft. The output signal of a cylinder is compared with the average value or the median value of the output signals of other cylinders.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR VEHICLE EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS

Methods and systems are provided for conducting a diagnostic routine of the fuel vapor system using pressure generated by raising or lowering a vehicle body element such as a hood or a trunk. In one example, by utilizing lift gate cylinders coupled to the hood or trunk, during raising a hood or trunk, the fuel vapor system may be evacuated and during lowering the hood or trunk, the fuel vapor system may be pressurized. A change in vacuum or higher pressure in the fuel vapor system may be monitored over a time period to detect any undesirable evaporative emissions from the fuel vapor system.

Disclosed is a combustion system design method based on a target heat release rate, which belongs to the technical field of diesel engine combustion chamber design. The method includes: obtaining an ideal heat release rate based on Sabathe-Miller cycle; simulating the ideal heat release rate based on a double-Wiebe function and obtaining the target heat release rate; constructing a mapping relation among the heat release rate, piston geometric parameters and fuel injection parameters, which includes target start of combustion being an function of fuel injection timing and ignition delay, premixed combustion parameters being functions of throat radius, injection pressure and nozzle diameter, and diffusion combustion being a function of piston pit depth; solving target piston geometric parameters and target fuel injection parameters based on the mapping relation; and then designing a combustion system. The method does not depend on experience and multi-scheme design, greatly shortens the combustion system design.
