System and method for optimization of engines on a common variable frequency bus
A system and method for synchronizing a frequency of plurality of variable frequency generators with a variable frequency load over a variable frequency bus independent of a frequency conversion stage. A synchronization controller is configured to determine an optimal bus frequency of the variable frequency bus based on at least one power demand requirement of the variable frequency load operatively connected to the variable frequency bus. With the optimal frequency, an available power range supplied by the plurality of variable frequency gensets at the optimal bus frequency can be determined. The synchronization controller then asymmetrically loads the variable frequency load to the plurality variable frequency gensets at the optimal bus frequency based on the operating range of each variable frequency genset and recursively updates the optimal bus frequency based on operational statistics of the asymmetrically loaded variable frequency gensets.
Injection controller
An injection controller includes a control IC outputting an energization instruction signal to apply a peak current to a fuel injection valve (i.e., an instruction TQ), and a current monitor unit detecting an electric current flowing in the fuel injection valve. The control IC corrects an output OFF time of the energization instruction signal based on a difference between (i) an integrated current of an ideal current profile which serves as a target current before reaching the peak current and (ii) an integrated current of an energization current in the fuel injection valve detected by the current monitor unit (i.e., an effective TQ).

SKIP FIRE VALVE CONTROL
In various aspects, internal combustion engines, engine controllers and methods of controlling engines are described. The engine includes a camshaft and a two cylinder sets. Cylinders in the first are deactivatable and cylinders in the second set may be fired at high or low output levels. The air charge for each fired working cycle is set based on whether a high or low torque output is selected. In some implementations, the camshaft is axially shiftable between first and second positions. First cam lobes are configured to cause their associated cylinders to intake a large air charge during intake strokes that occur when the camshaft is in the first position. Second cam lobes for cylinders in the second set cause their associated cylinders to intake a smaller air charge when the camshaft is in the second position. Second cam lobes for cylinders in the first set deactivate their associated cylinders.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ESTIMATING TURBO SPEED OF AN ENGINE
The speed of a turbocharger may be estimated using data from sensors that are readily available in most engine management systems. In some cases, a pressure measurement from a MAP sensor may be used, in combination with one or more computational models, to provide an efficient, lower cost estimate of turbo speed that can be used to control operation of the engine and/or the turbocharger.
MODEL CALCULATING UNIT AND CONTROL UNIT FOR CALCULATING A NEURAL LAYER OF A MULTILAYER PERCEPTRON MODEL
A model calculating unit for calculating a neural layer of a multilayer perceptron model having a hardwired processor core developed in hardware for calculating a definitely specified computing algorithm in coupled functional blocks. The processor core is designed to calculate, as a function of one or multiple input variables of an input variable vector, of a weighting matrix having weighting factors and an offset value specified for each neuron, an output variable for each neuron for a neural layer of a multilayer perceptron model having a number of neurons, a sum of the values of the input variables weighted by the weighting factor, determined by the neuron and the input variable, and the offset value specified for the neuron being calculated for each neuron and the result being transformed using an activation function in order to obtain the output variable for the neuron.

Additionally, a method of improving efficiency of an internal combustion engine is described.
Control device
Provided is a fuel injection device and a control unit therefor which enable reliable ignition even in a case where fuel pressure is low immediately after starting an engine. In the control unit for controlling an injector injecting fuel into an internal combustion engine, a plurality of injectors is provided in the internal combustion engine, a static flow rate of a first injector is configured to be smaller than a static flow rate of a second injector. In a case where a fuel pressure of fuel supplied by a pressurizing unit is lower than a set value set lower than a fuel pressure in warming up, an injection ratio of the first injector is controlled to increase according to a difference between a fuel pressure of fuel from the pressurizing unit and a fuel pressure in warming up.
