Systems for diagnosing a condition of an engine
Various systems and methods are provided for identifying cylinder knock. In one example, cylinder knock may be identified based on a knock monitor that identifies knock based on output from a crankshaft speed sensor.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CYLINDER IMBALANCE DETECTION
Methods and systems are provided for detection of cylinder-to-cylinder air fuel ratio imbalance in engine cylinders. In one example, a method may include indicating air fuel ratio imbalance in an engine cylinder based on a comparison of an estimated cylinder acceleration for the cylinder and a calibrated cylinder acceleration for each of the engine cylinders. The indication of imbalance may be further confirmed based on one or more of an exhaust air-fuel ratio, an exhaust manifold pressure, and an individual cylinder torque weighted by respective confidence factors.
Electronic fuel injection throttle body assembly
Present embodiments provide a throttle body which may be used with a variety of engines of different manufacturers. The throttle body may be used to replace mechanical or hydraulically controlled carburetors with electronic fuel injection. The throttle body may provide improved fuel pathways through and about the throttle body in order to move fuel to opposed side. The throttle bodies may have improved configuration of the fuel injectors. Further, the throttle body may have computer mounted on the throttle body and a notch formed in the throttle body to define a wire routing pathway from the computer to the injectors.

A vehicle control system includes a processor programmed to control a vehicle subsystem according to a recovered signal generated from an output signal of a sensor, and a product of a time constant of the sensor and filtered changes of the output signal with respect to time such that a magnitude and phase of the recovered signal approach a magnitude and phase of an input signal to the sensor.
STARTUP ASSISTANCE DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A startup assistance device, which assists startup of an internal combustion engine in which fuel is supplied from an electronically controlled fuel injection device and ignition is performed by an ignition device, includes a recoil starter which is driven by manpower and which performs cranking for starting up the internal combustion engine, an electric rotary machine which adds torque to a crankshaft of the internal combustion engine during at least one of a startup period of the internal combustion engine using the recoil starter and a standby period before the startup period, a power source unit which supplies power to the electric rotary machine, and a control unit which controls the magnitude and time of the torque output by the electric rotary machine.
Control device for fuel injection valve
A control device for a fuel injection valve including a variable lift mechanism of two or more stages is provided. The control device includes an inflection point detection unit for detecting an inflection point from at least one of a drive current when the fuel injection valve is opened or a drive voltage when the fuel injection valve is closed. The control device also includes a drive sensing unit for sensing a drive lift of the fuel injection valve from at least one of an inflection point of a drive current during valve opening operation or a drive voltage during valve closing operation. The control device is configured to limit the command drive lift when the sensed drive lift is different from a command drive lift.

A method of controlling a low-pressure fuel pump may include: identifying a fuel consumption amount of the low-pressure fuel pump in response to a feedforward fuel control; determining a motor driving base duty based on the fuel consumption amount; and identifying a target fuel pressure based on the pressure of fuel.
System and method for learning an injector compensation
A method of operating a fuel injector includes determining a fuel pressure and a total fuel mass M.sub.TF to be injected per combustion cycle, defining first and second pulse widths PW.sub.1 and PW.sub.2 corresponding to first and second commanded fuel masses CM.sub.1 and CM.sub.2 wherein CM.sub.1+CM.sub.2=M.sub.TF, actuating the injector for the first and second pulse widths, detecting an opening delay for the injector, and storing the opening delay. The method may further include increasing PW.sub.1 and decreasing PW.sub.2 by a predetermined amount, repeating selected steps until PW.sub.2 is less than or equal to a predetermined minimum pulse width, changing the fuel pressure by a predetermined pressure amount, cycling through selected steps until the fuel pressure reaches a predetermined target fuel pressure, and commanding the injector to open earlier than a normally commanded opening time by a lead time based on stored opening delay data.
METHOD AND SYSTEM OF CORRECTING FUEL INJECTION QUANTITY OF VEHICLE
A method of correcting a fuel injection quantity of a vehicle corrects the fuel injection quantity prior to activation of a lambda sensor when an engine is turned on. Additionally, the method increases a speed for activating a catalyst to reduce a harmful substance in exhaust gas at the beginning of engine starting.

Disclosed are a vehicle and a method of providing fuel consumption information thereof in which the influence of driver's pedal operation on actual fuel consumption, including a latent distance to empty (DTE), due to variation in kinetic energy of the vehicle may be displayed. The method includes detecting whether or not one of an accelerator pedal and a brake pedal is operated, determining guidance fuel consumption based on a change in an available coasting distance according to a change in a vehicle speed due to operation of the one of the accelerator pedal and the brake pedal, which is detected, and outputting the determined guidance fuel consumption.
