Fuel injector control including state selection based on a control signal characteristic
An illustrative embodiment of a fuel injector control system includes a driver that is configured to supply electrical power to a fuel injector. A controller is configured to control the driver by implementing a predetermined sequence of a plurality of states for an injection cycle. The plurality of states each include parameters for supplying electrical power to the fuel injector. The controller selects one of the states to implement as a next one of the states in the sequence based on a characteristic of an activation signal and information indicative of the state corresponding to the characteristic of the activation signal.

DRIVE UNIT OF FUEL INJECTION DEVICE
In a drive unit of a fuel injection device, an electric current is supplied to the fuel injection device by applying a high voltage to the fuel injection device from a high voltage source whose voltage is boosted to a voltage higher than a battery voltage at the time of opening a valve of the fuel injection device. Thereafter, the electric current supplied to the fuel injection device is lowered to a current value at which a valve element cannot be held in a valve open state by stopping the applying of the high voltage from the high voltage source. Thereafter, in a stage where a supply current is switched to a hold current, another high voltage is applied to the fuel injection device from the high voltage source.
OPTIMIZING DIESEL, REDUCTANT, AND ELECTRIC ENERGY COSTS
Systems and methods to reduce operating expenses of a vehicle based on control of operation of a vehicle system. The system includes a controller. The controller is structured to receive one or more parameters comprising expense data, adjust operating expenses of a vehicle system based on the one or more parameters, and generate a command structured to adjust operation of the vehicle system responsive to the adjustment of the operating expenses.
BATTERY PACK FOR POWERING AND CONTROLLING OUTDOOR POWER EQUIPMENT
A battery pack battery pack for powering a motor on outdoor power equipment includes an outer housing, a plurality of battery cells enclosed within the outer housing, and a plurality of terminals electrically coupled to the plurality of battery cells. The plurality of terminals includes a positive terminal, a negative terminal, an enable input terminal, and an auxiliary terminal. The auxiliary terminal is configured to supply auxiliary power from the plurality of battery cells to an auxiliary device in response to a signal being received at the enable input terminal.
Internal combustion engine control device
An internal combustion engine control device for a dual-injection internal combustion engine acquires first and second increase values, which are fuel increase ratios according to respective alcohol concentrations of a fuel injected by cylinder injection and a fuel injected by port injection. The control device determines a basic total injection amount of fuel that should be supplied to each cylinder in the case where the alcohol concentration of the fuel is zero. An amount of fuel injected from a cylinder injection valve is determined as if the alcohol concentration of the fuel were zero. A total injection amount is to correspond to an amount in accordance with the basic total injection amount and both, the first increase value and the second increase value, so that the increase in injected fuel amount is borne by port injection.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OPERATING ENGINE CYLINDERS
Systems and methods for activating and deactivating cylinders of an engine that may activate and deactivate one cylinder independent of other cylinders are presented. In one example, an engine cylinder firing fraction and a remainder value that is based on the engine cylinder firing fraction are a basis for activating and deactivating engine cylinders. The systems and methods also provide for transitioning between different cylinder firing fractions.
Exhaust gas sensor controls adaptation for asymmetric type sensor degradation
Methods and systems are provided for converting an asymmetric sensor response of an exhaust gas sensor to a symmetric response. In one example, a method includes adjusting fuel injection responsive to a modified exhaust oxygen feedback signal from an exhaust gas sensor, where the modified exhaust oxygen feedback signal is modified by transforming an asymmetric response of the exhaust gas sensor to a symmetric response. Further, the method may include adapting parameters of an anticipatory controller of the exhaust gas sensor based on the modified symmetric response.
FUEL HEATING
A vehicle comprising: an internal combustion engine configured to generate an engine torque using high-gasoline content fuel; at least one fuel injector configured to deliver the high-gasoline content fuel to a cylinder of the engine; at least one heating element configured to heat the high-gasoline content fuel prior to it being delivered to the cylinder by the fuel injector; a fuel pump connected to the heating element to supply high-gasoline to the heating element, the fuel pump being configured to pressurise the high-gasoline content fuel; and an engine controller configured to control the engine torque generated by the engine and control the fuel pressure generated by the fuel pump, the engine controller using a heated-fuel behaviour model of the engine, when the fuel is being heated by the heating element(s), to: (i) control an amount of fuel delivered by the fuel injector, the heated-fuel behaviour model causing a reduced fuel injection amount for a given engine torque relative to unheated high-gasoline content fuel; and (ii) cause a higher fuel pressure to be generated by the fuel pump relative to unheated high-gasoline content fuel.
Method and system for determining air-fuel imbalance
Methods and systems are provided to determine air-fuel imbalance of cylinders in a variable displacement engine. In one example, the method may include during a cylinder deactivation event, sequentially deactivating each cylinder of a cylinder group including two or more cylinders and estimating a lambda deviation for each cylinder following the sequential deactivation of each cylinder of the cylinder group; and learning an air error for each cylinder based on the estimated lambda deviation.
