Post-impact control system

A control system in a vehicle includes a sensor and a control module. The sensor is programmed to detect an impact to the vehicle while the vehicle is in a key-off state and output an impact signal in response to detecting the impact. The control module is programmed to activate in response to the impact signal, receive a condition signal identifying a vehicle condition, and prevent at least one vehicle operation based at least in part on the condition signal.

In a diesel engine, displacement of an amount of fuel injection is calculated on the basis of a reference amount of heat production and an actual amount of heat production, and an amount of fuel injection from an injector is corrected on the basis of the displacement of an amount of fuel injection. Displacement of a heat production rate gradient is calculated by subtracting an actual heat production rate gradient from a reference heat production rate gradient, displacement of an amount of intake air on the basis of the displacement of heat production rate gradient and the displacement of the amount of fuel injection, and the amount of intake air is corrected by adjusting a supercharging pressure of a turbocharger on the basis of the displacement of the amount of intake air. Accordingly, it is possible to adjust the amount of fuel injection and the amount of intake air.

Methods and systems are provided for adjusting a fuel direct injection split ratio and injection timing in a variable compression ratio engine. In one example, as the compression ratio increases, the split ratio of fuel injected during an intake stroke relative to a compression stroke is increased, with a start of the intake stroke injection retarded and a start of the compression stroke injection advanced. Additionally, the fuel direct injection split ratio and injection timing may be further adjusted responsive to an indication of pre-ignition or knock.

CATALYST ABNORMALITY DIAGNOSTIC DEVICE AND CATALYST ABNORMALITY DIAGNOSTIC METHOD

A catalyst abnormality diagnostic device is configured to diagnose an abnormality of a first purification catalyst having an oxygen storage capacity and a second purification catalyst having the oxygen storage capacity and a function of a particulate filter provided on an exhaust passage on a downstream side of the first purification catalyst. The catalyst abnormality diagnostic device adjusts a fuel injection amount so that an air-fuel ratio of an exhaust gas is repeatedly in a rich state and a lean state, obtains a first determination value indicating a catalytic performance of the first purification catalyst, obtains a second determination value indicating a catalytic performance of the second purification catalyst, and determines whether there is an abnormality in one or both of the first purification catalyst and the second purification catalyst on the basis of the first determination value, the second determination value, and a predetermined determination reference value.

Ball stud strategy for hand-replaceable components requiring electric power

A conductive ball stud fastener arrangement for providing energy to a removable electrified component having an electrified element when the component is attached to an electrified substrate is disclosed. The ball stud fastener includes an insulating body, an electrified conductor having a conductive tip that is continuous with a conductive, centrally formed conductive stem, and a conductive attachment portion for attachment to the electrified substrate. The electrified component includes grommets having conductive elements. The ball stud fasteners are easily removed from and attached to the grommets. The conductive elements of the grommets are part of a circuit to which the electrified element of the electrified component is attached. According to one embodiment, the conductive ball stud fastener arrangement and its associated circuit includes a photoelectric sensor that opens and closes the circuit. In another embodiment, the ball studs themselves act as switches to open and close the circuit.

GARDEN TOOL

A garden tool includes a gasoline engine and a power source, the gasoline engine including a fuel supply system and an ignition system. The garden tool may further include a control system with at least one sensor used for collecting a working condition signal of the gasoline engine and a controller used for receiving the working condition signal and controlling the fuel supply system and/or the ignition system according to the working condition signal received. The power source may provide a power supply for the fuel supply system, the ignition system, and the control system through the controller.

Smart trailer classification system

Methods and systems are provided for classification of the type and weight of a trailer being towed by a vehicle. The classification is based on a comparison between a real-time road gradient as determined by the vehicle system and an expected road gradient as determined from an off-board or an onboard map. Vehicle operations may be adjusted based on the classification of the attached trailer.

Fuel vapor flow estimation systems and methods

A control system of a vehicle includes a fuel vapor canister that traps fuel vapor from a fuel tank of the vehicle. A purge valve, when open, allows fuel vapor flow into an intake system of an engine at a first location and, when closed, prevents fuel vapor flow to the intake system of the engine. A purge control module controls opening of the purge valve and determines a fuel vapor flow into cylinders of the engine based on: (i) a first pressure at the first location, (ii) a second pressure at a second location between the purge valve and the intake system, and (iii) at least one delay period between opening of the purge valve and fuel vapor reaching cylinders of the engine.

CONTROL DEVICE FOR FUEL INJECTION DEVICE

A control device of a fuel injection device improves stabilization in an opening operation of a valve element and stabilizes an injection amount. The control device includes a valve element to open a fuel passage by being separated from a valve seat, a movable iron core to perform an opening/closing operation of the valve element, and a fixed iron core to attract the movable iron core when a current flows to a coil. The control device includes a control unit which performs an intermediate energization in which the coil is energized again to attract the movable iron core to the fixed iron core and then the energizing to the coil is blocked and the movable iron core is displaced in a direction away from the fixed core. The control unit controls whether the intermediate energization is performed according to an injection interval of the fuel injection device.
