Control device for supercharged engine

In a multiple cylinder supercharged engine, when reduced cylinder operation is executed, a throttle, which is located downstream of a compressor driven by a turbine provided in an exhaust passage, through which exhaust gas of a cylinder group flows, is operated to a fully closed state, wherein the reduced cylinder operation is applied to the cylinder group. A fuel injection amount of at least one cylinder included in the cylinder group is made smaller than a fuel injection amount of a cylinder included in another cylinder group, and this at least one cylinder is operated, in order to increase rotational speed of the compressor, so that a value of pressure of an upstream side of the throttle is controlled to a value, which is equal to or larger than a value of pressure of a downstream side of the throttle.

Method and computer program for actuating a fuel injector

A method actuates a fuel injector having a coil drive with a solenoid and a magnet armature. The magnet armature can be moved along a longitudinal axis by a magnetic field generated by the solenoid. In the method, an amplification voltage is applied to the solenoid at a predefined point in time to move the magnet armature from a closed position into an open position. The amplification voltage is made available by a voltage-regulated direct voltage transformer from a supply voltage. The direct voltage transformer has a storage capacitor for supporting the voltage made available at the output of the direct voltage transformer. The storage capacitor is charged to a pilot control voltage by the amplification voltage before the given point in time, with the result that the voltage present at the solenoid is higher than the amplification voltage at the predefined point in time.

Traction system for a vehicle

A drive system for a vehicle comprises two electrical machines arranged between a combustion engine and an input shaft to a gearbox. The first machine's rotor and the input shaft of the gearbox are each connected to a separate component of a planetary gear. The second electrical machine's rotor is connected with the output shaft of the combustion engine, which is connected with another component of the planetary gear. A first locking means may be moved between a locked position, in which the planetary gear's three components rotate at the same rotational speed, and a release position, allowing for different rotational speeds. A second locking means is moveable between a locked position, in which the output shaft of the combustion engine is locked together with the second machine's rotor and a release position, in which the combustion engine's output shaft is disconnected from the second machine's rotor.

Methods and systems are provided for performing an onboard cylinder leakdown test in response to an indication of cylinder misfire. In one example, following an engine-off event and an engine temperature above a threshold, fuel is injected into the indicated cylinder under conditions wherein the cylinder is expected to be sealed, and the detection of hydrocarbon migration out of the cylinder indicates cylinder degradation. In this way, cylinder degradation may be accurately diagnosed without intrusive, time consuming, and difficult off-board cylinder leakdown tests.

Fuel injection control device and fuel injection control method

A fuel injection control device controls a spark-ignition engine of an intra-cylindrical direct fuel injection type. The engine includes a fuel injection valve configured to directly inject a fuel to an interior of a cylinder, and a spark plug configured to ignite, by a spark, an air-fuel mixture inside the cylinder. When the injected fuel collides with a portion in a predetermined low-temperature state, the fuel is injected while changing a fuel injection condition under predetermined operating conditions so as to restrain a fuel spray from keeping colliding with the same position continuously.

FUEL PUMP SYSTEM OF HYBRID VEHICLE

A fuel pump system of a hybrid vehicle is provided. The fuel pump system prevents a fuel pump from continuing to operate when fuel is exhausted, whereby the fuel pump may be damaged. The pressure of fuel is measured in response to exhaustion of fuel, and when the pressure of fuel is low, fuel is circulated within the fuel pump instead of being supplied to the engine side, thereby preventing the fuel pump from being stuck due to frictional heat

A throttle body fuel injection system and method that is arranged to easily replace four-barrel carburetors includes a throttle body assembly with four main bores, each with a throttle plate and an associated fuel injector. Each injector feeds fuel into a circular fuel distribution ring via a fuel injection conduit, which introduces pressurized fuel into the air stream. The fuel distribution rings and bores have profiles that avoid constrictions for to prevent low pressure zones according to the Venturi effect. Fuel is injected through downward-facing outlets at or near the bottom end of the rings. The fuel injection rings are two-piece, each formed of an insert pressed into an outer housing. The insert includes axial grooves intervaled about its exterior circumference of insert that are joined by a circumferential groove formed about the insert. The grooves are in fluid communication with a conduit that supplies fuel from a fuel injector.

Controlling device for internal combustion engine equipped with turbocharger

A target first air amount for achieving a requested torque by an operation of an intake property variable actuator is calculated by using a first parameter. A target second air amount for achieving the requested torque by an operation of a turbocharging property variable actuator is calculated by using a second parameter. A value of a first parameter changes to a value that reduces a conversion efficiency of an air amount into torque in response to the requested torque decreasing to a first reference value or lower. Further, a value of the second parameter starts to change to a direction to reduce the conversion efficiency in response to the requested torque decreasing to a second reference value that is larger than the first reference value, or lower, and gradually changes to a direction to reduce the conversion efficiency in accordance with the requested torque further decreasing from the second reference value to the first reference value. The target air-fuel ratio is set at a first air-fuel ratio in a period in which the requested torque is larger than the first reference value, and is switched to a second air-fuel ratio which is leaner than the first air-fuel ratio in response to a decrease of the requested torque to the first reference value or lower.
