To enable an improved operating behavior of an internal combustion engine, an internal combustion engine having at least one combustion chamber, having at least one air inlet section for the supply of air into the combustion chamber, having at least one exhaust gas outlet for the discharge of exhaust gas into at least one exhaust gas tube, having at least one optical particulate measurement sensor, and having a control apparatus for controlling an operating behavior of the internal combustion engine is provided, wherein the optical particulate measurement sensor is provided to determine a particulate concentration in the exhaust gas and to make available at least one particulate concentration signal for the control apparatus derived from the particulate concentration and wherein the control apparatus is configured to directly change the operating behavior of the internal combustion engine based on the particulate concentration signal of the optical particulate measurement sensor.
Fuel injection control device and fuel injection system
A fuel injection control device is adapted for a fuel injection system including an injector and a high-pressure pump that raises pressure of fuel and supplies the fuel to the injector. The fuel injection control device includes a selecting unit for selecting by which one of full lift injection and partial injection to inject fuel, and a pump control unit for controlling operation of the high-pressure pump such that a pressure of fuel supplied to the injector coincides with a target pressure. The selecting unit selects the partial injection when a required injection quantity of fuel is equal to or smaller than a partial maximum injection quantity. A fuel injection system includes the fuel injection control device, the injector, and the high-pressure pump.
Fuel injection system for internal combustion engine and control method for internal combustion engine
A fuel injection system for an engine, the fuel injection system includes injectors and an electronic control unit. The injectors include needle valves; and the ECU is configured to: (i) execute partial lift injection and full lift injection with the injectors, the partial lift injection being injection during which the needle valve does not reach a fully-open state and the full lift injection being injection during which the needle valve reaches the fully-open state; (ii) operate the engine in a partial lift injection region where the injection of a required injection amount of a fuel is shared by the partial lift injection and the full lift injection; and (iii) perform the amount of correction of the required injection amount with respect to the injection amount shared by the full lift injection when the required injection amount is corrected while the engine is operated in the partial lift injection region.
System and method for determining information related to a rotation of a shaft
A system and method for determining information related to a rotation of a shaft. The method includes receiving a signal associated with a plurality of targets and gaps passing by a sensor. The targets and gaps are positioned around a circumference of a wheel that is fixed for rotation with the shaft. The method includes forming a sensed target-and-gap sequence based on the signal, wherein the sensed target-and-gap sequence represents a subset of the targets and gaps. The method further includes comparing the sensed target-and-gap sequence to a set of known target-and-gap sequences stored in memory. Each known target-and-gap sequence is associated with a respective known circumferential portion of the wheel. The method also includes determining which respective, known target-and-gap sequence is identical to the sensed target-and-gap sequence.
CONTROL SYSTEM FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
In cases where an EGR device is provided in which an EGR gas is recirculated to an upstream side of a compressor, the generation of condensed water is suppressed in an intake passage at the downstream side of the compressor. In the case where the temperature of a wall surface of the intake passage estimated or detected by a temperature detector is equal to or less than a predetermined temperature, a rotational speed of a turbine is made higher than in the case where the estimated or detected temperature of the wall surface of the intake passage is higher than the predetermined temperature, and torque of an internal combustion engine is adjusted such that an amount of change in an output of the internal combustion engine at the time of the rotational speed of the turbine being thus made higher falls within a predetermined range.
Multipurpose Vehicle
A multipurpose vehicle includes an engine, a fuel supply unit that supplies fuel to the engine, a gear transmission device that changes speed of power from the engine through a shifting operation, a coupling state detection sensor that detects a coupling state of the gear transmission device, a determination unit that determines whether the coupling state is an incomplete coupling state based on a detection signal from the coupling state detection sensor, and a fuel supply control unit that executes a fuel cut to reduce a fuel supply amount of the fuel from the fuel supply unit to the engine to a value less than a reference value, if the determination unit determines that the coupling state is the incomplete coupling state.

A device and a method for checking switch-off paths in control units of internal combustion engines during ongoing engine operation.
Injection control device
An injection control device has a current supply controller controlling a supply of an electric current for opening and closing a fuel injection valve, a current monitor monitoring the electric current supplied to the valve, and a boost controller performing a boost voltage generation control that generates a boost voltage from a power supply voltage by a tuning ON/OFF of a switching element for supplying a peak current to open the valve. When the current supply controller supplies the peak current to the fuel injection valve, the boost controller stops the boost voltage generation control in a stop period that includes a timing when an electric current supply amount takes a threshold value of the peak current.
Method of starting an internal combustion engine of a hybrid propulsion system in a marine vessel and a hybrid propulsion system in a marine vessel
A method of operating a marine vessel hybrid propulsion system having a propulsion shaft and a propeller, an internal combustion piston engine in force transmission connection with the propulsion shaft, and an electric motor-generator in force transmission connection with the propulsion shaft and/or with the piston engine. The internal combustion piston engine can be started by applying electric power from an on-board power source to the electric motor-generator and rotating the internal combustion piston engine by the electric motor-generator and rotational speed of the internal combustion piston engine is accelerated to a predetermined limit rotational speed without attempting to start the internal combustion piston engine, and only after the rotational speed of the internal combustion piston engine reaches the predetermined limit rotational speed, the internal combustion piston engine is started.
