Exercise apparatus with a user controlled, gravity operated shifting mechanism
An exercise apparatus is provided where a user selectively changes the amount of effort required to operate the machine on demand without interrupting the workout. A manual shifting process allows the user to selectively change the amount of resistance with the gravity included positioning of a resistance weight on a lever arm.
Computerized smart gaming tournament system for the internet
A system comprising contact and motion sensors adapted to sports equipment and coupled to a computer for the wireless communication of performance data. The computer is connected to a display for the visual simulation of player performance information and may be connected to other computers, thereby permitting competitive play among remote players.
Electronic sports tracking and coaching system
An electronic tracking and coaching system adapted for use in training for various sports is provided. The present invention includes a sports ball that contains a plurality of sensors, a wireless transceiver, a storage medium adapted to store voice commands or noises to be played upon the occurrence of a pre-determined event, and a speaker. The ball's sensors are adapted to monitor the movement of the ball, the level and direction of force applied to the ball, and other such variables relevant to playing a sport with a ball. The device further includes a monitoring apparatus that is worn by the user and tracks all of his or her movement and stores that movement data for later access. The voice commands of the ball provide coaching direction to the user and the user can upload the stored data to data visualization software to precisely monitor his or her actions.
OPERATIONS WITH INSTRUMENTED GAME BALL
An instrumented athletic sporting device that can be handled by a user, such as a basketball or soccer ball, includes electronics that can detect motion and magnetic fields. For example, an instrumented basketball can be used in conjunction with a magnetic basketball goal net such that made and missed shots can be detected.
Activity Recognition with Activity Reminders
An athletic performance monitoring system, for motivating a user to reach a goal level of athletic activity. The system may motivate the user by calculation a deficit between a current total level of activity and the goal level of athletic activity, and suggesting activity types that the user may carry out an order to reach the goal level, wherein the suggested activity types may be based on activities that are geographically close to the user, or sporting equipment worn by, or in possession of, the user.
Swimming Speedometer System with Near-Eye Display
An apparatus and method for measuring a swimmer's speed and conveying the speed to the swimmer in real time includes a plurality of ultrasonic beacons each having a transducer configured to emit ultrasonic signals in a pool or other body of water within which the swimmer is swimming. A wearable, waterproof, ultrasonic receiver worn by the swimmer, receives the ultrasonic signals and generates corresponding signal data. The receiver's microcontroller captures and uses the signal data to calculate the swimmer's position and speed in real time, and conveys this information to a wearable, waterproof, user interface device worn by the swimmer, the user interface device including a near-eye display disposed on the swimmer's googles.
Motion capture and analysis
A system for motion capture and analysis is described. The system may include a motion sensor unit configured to capture data associated with movement of an object. The motion sensor unit is configured to be directly or indirectly coupled to the movement object at a first location. The system also includes a processor to process the captured data to determine one or more values and to translate the data and/or values to correspond to a second location on the movement object located away from the first location. The data and/or values, including translated data and/or values, may be transmitted by wireless transmitter and displayed by a display unit.
Fitness level
A level for attaching to a weight lifting bar includes sensors for detecting the level of the bar and visual and audio alerts for notifying a user whether the weight lifting bar is balanced or unbalanced. Information provided by the sensors can be recorded and stored for analysis.
Method for assessing cognitive function and predicting cognitive decline through quantitative assessment of the TUG test
Methods and systems may provide for cognitive decline prediction or assessment. Baseline and follow-up inertial sensor data may be received from one or more inertial sensors attached to a person. Baseline and follow-up data indicative of cognitive decline may be received from the person. An indication of cognitive decline may be determined based on the baseline and follow-up cognitive decline data. A classifier function for predicting cognitive decline may be trained with the baseline inertial sensor data and the indication of cognitive decline. A classifier function for assessing cognitive decline may be trained with the baseline inertial sensor data, a difference between the baseline inertial sensor data and follow-up inertial sensor data, and the indication of cognitive decline.
Exercise Treadmill
An exercise treadmill is disclosed. The treadmill can be constructed with no obstructing front rails, with one or more side rails, and/or with a structural flat or ramped surface at the front allowing the user to exercise with unconstrained motion. The treadmill can further include one or more accommodations to help the user stay safe, remain longitudinally centered, and/or adjust speed with controls built into the treadmill, or automatically based on body position relative to sensors built into the side rails. The treadmill belt may be motor driven, or be user driven and dynamically moderated by resistance. The treadmill configuration can be utilized to provide a virtualized exercise experience for the user.
