CONTROL DEVICE FOR ENGINE
A control device for an engine is provided, which includes a combustion chamber formed by a cylinder and a piston, an intake air amount adjuster that adjusts an intake air amount supplied to the combustion chamber, a controller switchable of a combustion mode between a fuel-lean first combustion mode and a stoichiometric second combustion mode based on an engine operating state, and an intake air cooler that cools the intake air supplied to the combustion chamber. The controller controls the intake air cooler to start intake air cooling in response to a request for switching the combustion modes, and after the intake air cooling is started, controls the intake air amount adjuster to start the switching of the combustion modes, and then controls the intake air cooler and the intake air amount adjuster so that the switching of the combustion modes ends after the intake air cooling is finished.
Method for operating an internal combusting engine, and corresponding internal combustion engine
A method for operating an internal combustion engine having multiple cylinders. A warm-up operation is carried out after the internal combustion engine has been started, during which a speed of the internal combustion engine is limited to a limit value. The limit value is selected during the warm-up operation at least temporarily as a function of a starting temperature of the internal combustion engine.
DATA PROCESSING METHOD
A data processing method of variable measurement data in an electronic control unit (ECU) is provided. The ECU that processes the data processing method calculates a filtering frequency based on a delay time frequency based on a transmission timing cycle of the measurement data and a processing timing cycle of the measurement data in the ECU, and also based on a pulsation frequency of the measurement data, and removes, from the measurement data, a component of the filtering frequency calculated in the calculation of the filtering frequency.
Management system and method for regulating the on-demand electrolytic production of hydrogen and oxygen gas for injection into a combustion engine
A system and method of managing an on-demand electrolytic reactor for supplying hydrogen and oxygen gas to an internal combustion engine. The system minimizes reactor's power consumption and parasitic energy loss generally associated with perpetual reactors. The system comprises a plurality of sensors coupled to the reactor measuring a plurality of reactor parameters, an electronic control unit coupled to the plurality of sensors and the engine, and a reactor control board coupled to the reactor and the electronic control unit. The electronic control unit: monitors the plurality of reactor parameters and the plurality of engine parameters; determines a reactor performance level; determines an engine performance level; determines a change in the engine performance level to forecast a future engine demand level; and determines an ideal reactor performance level corresponding to the engine performance level or the future engine demand level. The reactor control board regulates the reactor by modifying at least one of electrical current supplied to the reactor, electrical voltage supplied to the reactor, and temperature of the reactor.
Method for determining an air mass and direct water injection system
A method for determining an air mass in an air separator of a water direct injection system for injecting a water/fuel mixture into a combustion chamber of an engine of a motor vehicle. The air separator is disposed between a water pump for delivering water of the water/fuel mixture and a high-pressure pump for feeding the water/fuel mixture to a high-pressure injector for injecting the water/fuel mixture into the combustion chamber. The method includes increasing a pressure of the water from a first pressure value to a second pressure value by the water pump, determining a water volume delivered by the water pump during the increasing of the pressure of the water by the water pump, and determining the air mass in the air separator on a basis of the determined water volume delivered by the water pump.
Method for operating an internal combustion engine, in particular a gas engine
The invention relates to a method for operating an internal combustion engine comprising: determining a first set point value of a volume of air to be taken into the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine within one working cycle thereof by retrieving the first set point value from a first characteristic map stored in a memory device of an electronic computing device as a function of a current engine speed of the internal combustion engine and as a function of a torque to be provided by the internal combustion engine; and determining a second set point value by retrieving the second set point value from a second characteristic map stored in the memory device of the electronic computing device as a function of a current engine speed of the internal combustion engine and as a function of a current volume of air supplied to the combustion chamber.
EMISSIONS CONTROL FOR AN ENGINE SYSTEM
A method is provided for controlling an engine. In one example, the method may include injecting fuel to the engine; and during an operating condition, limiting injected fuel based on engine airflow to a smoke-fuel limit, the smoke-fuel limit transiently adjusted from a first smoke-fuel limit to a second smoke-fuel limit based on a duration operating at the smoke-fuel limit. In one example, the method may include during another operating condition, fuel injection not limited by the smoke-fuel limit. In some examples, the duration may be a time duration. In some examples, the duration may be a crank angle duration. In some examples, limiting the injected fuel is based on an estimated engine airflow and estimated fuel injection amount to the engine.
Injection control device
An injection control device includes: an arithmetic unit that obtains a valve-closing time for stopping injection of fuel from a fuel injection valve based on a degree of variation in a time change of a voltage generated when the fuel injection valve is driven based on a required injection amount; an injection amount change unit that increases or decreases the required injection amount; and a learning unit that repeats injection control of the fuel to learn the valve-closing time obtained by the arithmetic unit.
SURGE DETERMINATION DEVICE, SURGE DETERMINATION METHOD, AND PROGRAM
This surge determination device is provided with a surge determination unit for determining the presence or absence of a surge of a compressor that outputs compressed air to an engine on the basis of a rotation speed of the engine and an air flow rate.
Controlling Combustion Processes In An Internal Combustion Engine
The present disclosure relates to internal combustion engines. The teachings thereof may be embodied in methods and devices for controlling the combustion processes taking place in the cylinders of an internal combustion engine. A method for controlling a combustion process in an internal combustion engine may include: measuring an actual camshaft position; measuring the actual rail pressure; calculating a phase correction value based on the measured actual rail pressure and a mass of fuel to be injected; calculating corrected actual camshaft positions based on the measured actual camshaft position and the respective phase correction value; calculating a mass of air depending on the determined corrected actual camshaft position; and calculating a fuel injection mass based on the mass of air determined for each cylinder.
