In this context, the vehicle in which the method is employed has an internal combustion engine that can be operated with a fuel, an air supply system, an exhaust gas system comprising at least an exhaust gas turbocharger, a fuel tank that is designed to supply the internal combustion engine with fuel, and a fuel vapor sorption system. It is provided that, in the method or by means of the device, a drive flow in the air supply system is regulated as a function of an altitude reserve of the exhaust gas turbocharger and as a function of an engine load point, so that the flushing air volume flow of the tank venting system that ensues is determined and can be supplied as a function of an altitude rotational speed of the exhaust gas turbocharger and as a function of the engine load point.
Method and system for variable displacement engine knock control
Methods and systems are provided for operating a variable displacement engine that includes a knock control system. Engine background noise levels for detecting engine knock may be the basis for determining whether or not the engine is operating in a cylinder deactivation mode. Further, select variable engine displacement modes may be avoided so that engine background noise level changes may be reduced to improve engine knock detection.
ENGINE DEVICE
In an engine device, when executing normal control that performs fuel injection and ignition as control of an engine, a controller estimates, in the case of a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio, an exhaust gas temperature based on first thermal energy that is based on a combustion gas temperature, a combustion gas quantity, and specific heat of combustion gas, estimates, in the case of a lean air-fuel ratio, the exhaust gas temperature based on the first thermal energy and second thermal energy that is based on an air temperature, a surplus air quantity, and specific heat of air, and estimates, in the case of a rich air-fuel ratio, the exhaust gas temperature based on the first thermal energy and third thermal energy that is based on a fuel temperature, a surplus fuel quantity, specific heat of fuel, and evaporation latent heat of fuel.
MIXED FUEL SYSTEM
The present invention provides a novel combination of devices to measure and transmit to an electronic controller data pertaining to differential pressures, temperatures, regeneration status, exhaust content, accumulated gas consumption and substitute fuel consumption. The electronic controller compares the data to thresholds; when the controller receives signals indicating these thresholds or limits are met, the controller causes the gas substitution rate to be diminished or set to zero until after-treatments elements are fully regenerated thereby facilitating integration of a mixed fuel system with an application internal combustion engine.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR ENGINE
Methods and systems are provided for controlling fueling and mitigating knock in internal combustion engines, such as multi-fuel engines. In one example, a method may include monitoring a frequency of knock events corresponding to one or more engine cylinders, and dynamically increasing a substitution ratio while the frequency of knock events is less than a maximum action threshold. In some examples, the method may further include actively adjusting one or more engine operating conditions to decrease the substitution ratio responsive to a severity of knocking in the one or more engine cylinders being greater than or equal to a threshold severity.
SUPERCHARGING PRESSURE CONTROL METHOD AND SUPERCHARGING PRESSURE CONTROL DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
An engine is provided with a turbo charger including a wastegate valve. A first setpoint of opening of the wastegate valve is set in accordance with a target boost pressure. While a difference between the target boost pressure and a real boost pressure is large, the opening is controlled to a second setpoint, wherein the second setpoint is smaller than the first setpoint. While the opening is controlled to the second setpoint, it is determined whether a condition for limitation is satisfied in which an intake air quantity is above an intake air quantity criterion and an engine rotation speed is above an engine rotation speed criterion. When the condition is satisfied, the opening is controlled in a direction to increase from the second setpoint. The engine rotation speed criterion decreases as the intake air quantity increases. The intake air quantity criterion decreases as the engine rotation speed increases.
