Water cooled engine
There is provided a water cooled engine including a cylinder head with minimized thermal strain. A head water jacket includes an inter-exhaust-port-wall water channel between a first exhaust entrance port wall and a second exhaust entrance port wall. A cylinder head includes a cooling water injection passage provided at a bottom wall of the cylinder head. The cooling water injection passage is positioned on the exhaust end side, and includes a passage entrance provided on the exhaust end side, and a passage exit directed toward the inter-exhaust-port-wall water channel. An exhaust port wall includes a heat dissipation fin extending from a first exhaust entrance port wall toward an exhaust end. The space between the heat dissipation fin and a second exhaust entrance port wall forms a water channel entrance of the inter-exhaust-port-wall water channel.
Cylinder head with integrated turbocharger
A cylinder head assembly includes a cast cylinder head and a turbocharger housing integrally cast with the cylinder head. The integrated cylinder head and turbocharger housing includes: (i) a compact low wetted area to provide an uninterrupted flow path pointed directly at a catalyst face to facilitate achieving cold start emissions targets, (ii) a casting core assembly with specific core geometry and steps for assembly to enable core assembly while meeting all cylinder head and integrated turbine housing functional requirements, (iii) an oxygen sensor disposed pre-turbine in an integrated exhaust manifold, and (iv) a fully integrated PCV make-up air system.
Methods and systems for an engine with removable camshaft carrier
Methods and systems are provided for a cylinder head with an exterior wall including a removable camshaft carrier. In one example, a cylinder head includes a camshaft carrier removably couplable to a mount surface of the cylinder head and adapted to form a portion of an exterior wall of the cylinder head while coupled to the mount surface. The camshaft carrier may include a first section removably couplable to the cylinder head and a second section removably couplable to the first section, with the first section and the second section together shaped to receive a camshaft journal.
Cylinder head bolt boss cutouts
A cylinder head [20, 120] mountable onto a cylinder block [16] of an engine [10] is disclosed. The cylinder head [20, 120] includes at least one fastener boss [28, 128] configured for receiving a fastener [24], and the cylinder head [20, 120] is securely fastened onto the cylinder block [16] of the engine [10] by the fastener [24]. A boss cutout [30, 130] is formed on a lower portion of the at least one fastener boss [28, 128] that abuts the cylinder block [16] such that a contact pressure balance of sealing pressures around the cylinder block [16] is evenly distributed.
Systems and methods of compression ignition engines
Apparatuses, systems and method for utilizing multi-zoned combustion chambers (and/or multiple combustion chambers) for achieving compression ignition (and/or spark-assisted or fuel-assisted compression ignition) in an internal combustion engine are provided. In addition, improved apparatuses, systems and methods for achieving and/or controlling compression ignition (and/or spark-assisted or fuel-assisted compression ignition) in a “Siamese cylinder” internal combustion engine are provided.
CYLINDER HEAD HAVING BORE LOCATIONS ARRANGED FOR TIGHT PACKAGING OF GAS EXCHANGE AND FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS
A cylinder head includes a cylinder head casting having four gas exchange openings formed in a fire deck. A bolt bore and a glow plug bore extend through the cylinder head casting between an upper surface and a lower surface. The four gas exchange openings are arranged at twelve o'clock, three o'clock, six o'clock, and nine o'clock positions, circumferentially around an injector bore center axis. The bolt bore is positioned angularly between the twelve o'clock position and the three o'clock position, and the glow plug bore is positioned angularly between the three o'clock position and the six o'clock position.
CYLINDER HEAD ASSEMBLY HAVING FUEL INJECTOR SLEEVE FOR MID-DECK REACTING OF INJECTOR CLAMPING LOAD
A cylinder head assembly includes a cylinder head casting, and an injector sleeve within an injector bore in the cylinder head casting. The injector sleeve includes a first sleeve end, and an injector clamping surface formed by an inner sleeve surface adjacent to a cylindrical second sleeve end. The injector sleeve further includes a sleeve clamping surface in contact with an upward facing middle deck surface of the cylinder head casting, and a reaction wall extending between the injector clamping surface and the sleeve clamping surface to transfer an injector clamping load to the upward facing middle deck surface.
Parallel Intake Valve Tumble Flow Engine
An engine with a vertically oriented parallel valve and stem arrangement accommodating tumble flow to support spark-ignited fuel usage. The engine may be provided in a configuration generally suited for swirl flow, compression combustion fuel usage. However, the introduction of a unique, replaceable valve head assembly may be utilized to induce tumble flow within a combustion chamber of the engine. Thus, spark-ignited fuel may be utilized without requiring vast overhaul of the engine to accommodate such fuels. Notably, with the addition of such an assembly, diesel fuel may be replaced with natural gas on large scale equipment without the requirement of impractically burdensome or expensive measures.
Liquid-cooled cylinder head
Various embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to liquid-cooled cylinder heads. In one example embodiment, a cylinder head is disclosed including a component which extends into a combustion chamber, an upper cooling jacked, a lower cooling jacket, a plurality of valves arranged around the component, a plurality of cylinder head screws, an oil deck, a fire deck, a plurality of valve guides, and a fixed connection. The fixed connection is arranged from each valve guide to the component, and is a ring having at least one support. The support and the ring extend at least from the oil deck to the fire deck thereby hounding the combustion chamber, and the component is connected to the plurality of cylinder head screws.
Engine
An engine is provided, which includes an engine body including a plurality of cylinders, each of the cylinders being provided with an intake port, an exhaust port, an intake valve, and an exhaust valve, an intake passage and an exhaust passage connected to the engine body, and a turbocharger including a turbine provided to the exhaust passage and a compressor provided to the intake passage. A geometric compression ratio of the cylinder is 11:1 or higher. An open period of the intake valve is a range of 270° or larger by a crank angle.
