DEVICE FOR ENGINE MONITORING
20210202926 · 2021-07-01 ·

A device for monitoring the function of an engine is powered by heat from the engine or other sources other than a conventional, external direct electrical power supply, which may create sparks and/or be unavailable. The device monitors one or more of heat, vibration, or other parameters and can detect certain problems with engine function. The device is particularly suited for remote engine monitoring, and can store and/or display data concerning monitored engine characteristics, and/or directly or indirectly send such data to a location removed from the engine.

FUEL INJECTOR MOUNTING ASSEMBLY FOR AN OPPOSED-PISTON ENGINE

A fuel injector mounting assembly in an opposed-piston engine allows for mounting of a fuel injector in a cylinder block without significantly deforming the wall of the cylinder into which the injector is configured to deliver fuel. The fuel injector mounting assembly includes a clamping arrangement to clamp the fuel injector to the cylinder block, an elongate tubular sleeve that sheathes a nozzle portion of the fuel injector, and a spanner nut attached to the elongate tubular sleeve. Clamping loads applied to retain the fuel injector in the cylinder block are controlled by the spanner nut.

Engine

An engine includes: a crankcase; a cover that is connected to the crankcase at a mating surface of the cover inclined toward an inner side in a vehicle width direction in going downward when the engine is mounted to a vehicle body, the cover covering a protruding end of a rotary shaft; and attachment bosses that are formed to be integral with the cover, have a predetermined height from the mating surface, and accept fastening members for fastening the cover to the crankcase. Accordingly, when mounted on a two-wheeled motor vehicle, the engine can restrain protrusion in the vehicle width direction and can be disposed at a position as low as possible with reference to the vehicle.

Internal combustion engine having structural frame

A structural frame is provided. The structural frame includes a bottom surface, first and second cylinder block sidewall engaging surfaces, the first and second cylinder block sidewall engaging surfaces positioned above the bottom surface at a height that is above a centerline of a crankshaft support included in a cylinder block when the structural frame is coupled to the cylinder block.

To minimize the risk of damaging an internal oil passage for conducting oil, the lower structure of an internal combustion engine includes a bottom wall (6), a side wall (7) provided along a peripheral edge of the bottom wall to define the oil chamber in cooperation with the bottom wall, a device mounting seat (52) provided on the side wall and configure to have a prescribed device (51) attached thereto; and an oil passage portion (57) formed in the side wall to define the oil passage (56), wherein the oil passage opens at the device mounting seat, and a part of the side wall adjacent to the oil passage portion is provided with a load absorbing portion (61) configured to be more readily deformable than the oil passage portion.

Engine device

An engine device including a cylinder block having one side portion to which a flywheel that is rotated integrally with a crankshaft is disposed. The engine device is provided with a starter that transmits a rotational force to the flywheel at a time of engine start. A flywheel housing, which accommodates the flywheel and includes a starter attachment pedestal for attaching the starter, is attached to the one side portion of the cylinder block. The starter is disposed inner side of the engine than a portion of the flywheel housing, the portion being located outermost in the engine with respect to a direction that is perpendicular to a direction along a crankshaft center and that is parallel to the cylinder head joining surface of the cylinder block.

COVER MEMBER MOUNTING STRUCTURE FOR ENGINE

An engine cover member mounting structure, including: an engine body; a peripheral member arranged on an outer wall of the engine body; a cover member arranged between the outer wall and the peripheral member; and a harness routed between the outer wall and the peripheral member, wherein the harness is held on a surface of the cover member.
