An air outlet for a nacelle for an aircraft turbofan having an inner wall and an outer wall connected to each other by a trailing edge, at least one radial through aperture extending over an angular portion of the air outlet and having inner and outer open faces and, for each aperture, a guiding device having inner and outer movable members movably mounted between a closed position wherein the inner and outer movable members respectively close off the inner and outer open faces, the aperture defining a closed cavity and an open position wherein the inner and outer movable members are configured to allow an external air flow to circulate in the aperture to support a reverse thrust phase.

COMPRESSOR FLOWPATH

A compressor section for a gas turbine engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a low pressure compressor including a plurality of rotor blades arranged about an axis, a high pressure compressor, and a core flowpath passing through the low pressure compressor. The core flowpath at the low pressure compressor defines an inner diameter and an outer diameter relative to the axis. The outer diameter has a slope angle relative to the axis.

A propulsion system coupled to a vehicle. The system includes a diffusing structure and a conduit portion configured to introduce to the diffusing structure through a passage a primary fluid produced by the vehicle. The passage is defined by a wall, and the diffusing structure comprises a terminal end configured to provide egress from the system for the introduced primary fluid. A constricting element is disposed adjacent the wall. An actuating apparatus is coupled to the constricting element and is configured to urge the constricting element toward the wall, thereby reducing the cross-sectional area of the passage.

Turbofan engine

A method for converting a turbofan engine including providing a turbofan engine and converting the turbofan engine. The turbofan engine includes a core engine (including at least one high pressure spool assembly and a combustion chamber), and an unmodified fan configured for providing at least a bypass flow bypassing the core engine, the fan being mechanically coupled to a low pressure turbine that is in turn driven by the core engine. The conversion includes modifying or replacing the unmodified fan to provide a modified fan, the modified fan configured for generating a reduced bypass flow with respect to said fan bypass flow during operation of the converted turbofan engine corresponding to at least one set of engine conditions, enabling said low pressure turbine to generate an excess shaft power above a baseline shaft power required for driving the modified fan during operation of the converted turbofan engine.

A method may comprise: laying up a first plurality of plies of material comprising thermoplastic resin and fiber to form an inner skin preform, the inner skin preform being a continuous sheet including alternating peaks and valleys; laying up a second plurality of plies of material comprising thermoplastic resin and fiber to form an outer skin preform; and joining the inner skin preform to the outer skin preform.

Variable geometry inlet system

A variable geometry inlet system of an aircraft engine includes an inlet duct. The inlet duct includes at least first and second sections moveable between extended and retracted positions such that the inlet duct defines a variable axial length of an inlet passage for selective flight conditions. The inclusion of acoustic treatment may assist in controlling noise.
