SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLING ENGINE OPERATION TO SUPPORT EXTERNAL ELECTRIC LOADS

Methods and systems are provided for controlling operation of an engine of a vehicle to supply power to a power box that in turn supplies power to loads external to the vehicle. In one example, a method comprises, via a controller, detecting that the vehicle is in a condition of reduced air exchange, and in response to a request to operate the engine to supply power to the power box, alerting the vehicle operator of the condition and discontinuing engine operation if a response to the alert is not received within a threshold duration. In this way, engine control strategy may account for the condition of reduced air exchange when the vehicle operator has acknowledged that the engine is operating under such conditions.

An exhaust system with a first and a second exhaust conduit arranged in a parallel flow arrangement. The exhaust system further includes an exhaust gas heat recovery (EGHR) heat exchanger coupled to an exterior of the first exhaust conduit. The exhaust system further includes a first flow control valve controlling the flow of exhaust gas into the EGHR heat exchanger from the first exhaust conduit and a second flow control valve controlling the flow of exhaust gas through the second exhaust conduit.

Valve device

In a valve device (1), when a valve (33) is closed, an output shaft of an actuator unit (10) is connected to the valve (33). A control unit of the valve device (1) determines a control constant to be a value by which a response speed of the actuator unit (10) is smaller as ambient temperature is higher, and performs feedback control.

Methods and systems are provided for coordinated operation of electric variable geometry turbocharger (e-VGT), an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), and electric motor coupled to the e-VGT for expedited catalyst light-off. In one example, a method may include, during a cold-start, decreasing each of an opening of e-VGT vanes and an opening of an EGR valve while operating the electric motor for braking and reducing the e-VGT speed.

Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Assembly

An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler assembly can be used to perform heat exchange between cooling water and exhaust gas. The EGR cooler assembly includes an EGR cooler in which cooling water flows, and a diesel particulate filter (DPF) including a housing accommodating therein the EGR cooler and a filter unit for post-treatment of the exhaust gas. An inside of the housing is sectioned by a partition into a first space in which the EGR cooler is inserted and a second space in contact with the filter unit, and the partition has a flow hole formed thereon in order to allow the exhaust gas to flow to the EGR cooler.

CONTROL METHOD OF A VEHICLE HAVING AN EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION SYSTEM

A control method of a vehicle having an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system includes efficiently controlling a temperature of recirculated exhaust gas and, even when the temperature of recirculated exhaust gas excessively increases, damage to hardware, such as an intake manifold or parts of the exhaust gas recirculation system can be prevented. The control method includes: detecting the temperature of exhaust gas recirculated to an engine intake system by the EGR system; entering into a protection mode so as to control the temperature of the recirculated exhaust gas; determining a correction value such that the controller controls the temperature of the recirculated exhaust gas; and correcting an engine control value by using the determined correction value and controlling an engine according to the corrected engine control value.

Recirculation valve

A recirculation valve of an exhaust gas recirculation apparatus includes: a valve housing having a gas inlet into which a recirculation gas flows, a gas outlet from which the recirculation gas is discharged, and an intermediate inlet disposed between the gas inlet and the gas outlet; and a valve body selectively opening and closing the gas inlet and the intermediate inlet.
